The Exorcist. (Fox TV series) Anybody else watch.

Caught the premier. I didn’t have very high expectations as I don’t normally like “Exorcist” type movies. I have to say though, I found this show to be surprisingly intriguing.

Of course, since I like it, that’s pretty much a guarantee it will be canceled.

I watched it and, like you, wasn’t expecting much. I wouldn’t have even known about it but I happened to see a write up in the local paper that afternoon that sounded fairly good. The big teaser for me was “. . . if nothing else, watch it for the last five minutes”. I’m glad I followed their advice.
It’s good to see Geena Davis and the cast as a whole is doing well with a premise that could easily go very wrong. The hardest thing for me to watch is Alan Ruck as a the father with dementia. I’m really looking forward to the next ep.

Pleasantly surprised and I’ll definitely be tuning in for more. I liked the occasional nods to the movie as well, eg the swirling leaves, Tubular Bells, etc.

Bumping to see if anyone is still watching. I’ve been very pleased with the slow buildup, twists, and production values. It’s one of the few shows that passes The Better Half’s very critical muster, which shocked me.

Are we alone?

we were watching - then it started getting tedious - I’ll agree that the overall buildup, etc were really well done - and some very creepy creepy scenes were fantastically played - but we stopped @ the end of ep6.

Pretty much as I feared / predicted, now that we’re into the full blown exorcism part it’s just become sort of redundant. I think it would have been better as a 2 hour movie or even a miniseries. I’ll probably keep tuning in but at this point it’s almost background noise as I’m not really paying a lot of attention anymore.

Yeah, the only reason I’m still watching is to see if there’s anything going down with the Pope. Those posters which show only the back of his head with the slogan “He’s coming” are really creepy. I’m figuring either the Pope is some archdemon already or they intend to possess him. That would be some coup for the Devil!

I’ve been watching the show and agreed that the actual exorcism has kind of dissipated some of the tension, but while doing that they decided to introduce the pro-demonic cabal, which is quite interesting. So turning from straight demonic horror to a conspiracy show… which I’m ok with. I’m wondering in which direction they turn for the conspiracy. It’d be pretty fun if they went deeper into Christian mythology and demonology for their plots going forward. With exorcisms here and there as the Hellmouth (or whatever) opens further in Chicago.

Though Season 1 is only 10 episodes, so we’ll have to see what they can accomplish in 3 more eps.

I’m watching, though according to last week’s Entertainment Weekly, it is doing extremely poorly ratings wise, so I think there is a good chance it does not get renewed for a second season. I hope if it does it will end on a satisfying conclusion…

That stinks, but I bet part of the reason is that this is the type of show that is exactly up my alley and I didn’t even realize it was into mid-season already. I’ll try to do my part by binging on what’s out there so far on VOD.
