Keith, I’m sorry about your car. That bites; I hope your insurance covers some of it or something. Hit and run drivers are the scum of the Earth, they really are.
That being said, I’m sorry everyone’s jumping on you. As someone who is amongst the ranks of the ever-so-slightly horizontally gifted, I wasn’t offended. I think that lately there’s been a trend on this board towards being less tolerant of people while they’re ranting. Personally, I think it bites. I’m always afraid of offending someone now every time that I post, and I’m just about as PC as they come. C’est la vie.
OK, so are you gonna explain why you disagree with me or just insult me like the dimple-whipping hoo-di-hoo that we all know you are? (Sometimes I just can’t stop myself from hurling insults at people, so I at least call them something that doesn’t mean anything.)
The lady who ran into the OP has a life-threatening condition that is the result of unaddressed issues going on for a long time. To me, this shows that her character is such that she’ll just let shit happen without being proactive and taking care of things. So, she runs into the OP’s car. Instead of doing the responsible thing and taking care of the problem she just goes on down the road and tries to ignore it.
I know that people have different metabolisms and that some people have glandular disorders or whatever, but the fact that the woman is morbidly obese shows that she’s not taking care of whatever particular problem she has. The fact that she may have a medical condition doesn’t excuse her; she needs to take care of the medical condition.
Please explain the flaw in my reasoning. I’m really curious why you think this is all nonsense.
I’d believe that Keith Berry was just venting and being descriptive about his assailant were it not for the gem about the “equally fat” woman in the passenger seat who was presumably the driver’s daughter. She had nothing to do with the accident, she was not in any way responsible, there was no reason to mention her except to make a dig about her fatness. That’s when the rant went from acceptable angry anecdote about the culmination of a string of bad car experiences to an excuse for making snotty remarks about fat people for their (the remarks) own sake.
Forgive the back to back posts but I just saw this little bit of nonsense.
How’s this, at its most basic – you cannot know from looking at someone what conditions or lifestyle choices are at the root of their obesity. You also cannot know whether or not they are currently under a physician’s care, or what their situation is.
Simply stated: you cannot make any reasonable assumptions about a perfect stranger’s life, health or character based upon their body size. Period.
Bashing fat people is generally wrong, but the whale that committed the hit-and-run deserved to be called fat, among other things. Someone shoud tell the no-license-plate-having globe that her arse looks like a giant condom filled with cottage cheese.
I can’t believe that you don’t think that how a person acts and reacts in one area of their life will affect and is affected by how that person acts and reacts in another area of their life.
I did not say that all fat people will run off after they hit a car. I was merely saying that the fact that the OP pointed out that the driver who hit him was morbidly obese does actually pertain to the main point in the OP and is not just a gratuitous aside.
The fact that the lady is morbidly obese (coupled with the fact that the lady doesn’t have a license plate) is evidence that the lady is not the most conscientious person in the world. If you can’t see the difference between the above sentence and the sentence “I think all fat people will run off after hitting a car,” then you are beyond my ability to help you.
And look, I’m the first to admit that I could also lose a few pounds. I wouldn’t consider myself fat by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m definitely not athletic by any means. And look, I’m sitting here posting to a goddamn message board when I should be working, so . . .
Becasue we all know that calling someone a “Disgusting Fat Pig” is less hurtful than calling them a “Disgusting Fat Homo”.
Yes. I am equating the two. While getting picked on at recess certainly can’t be considered comparable to the horror of the holocost, WHY you’re getting picked on probably doesn’t matter a huge deal to hurt feelings.
If a kid gets bullied because they’re large, or if a kid gets bullied becasue they’re jewish - they’re still bullied.

You’re overweight.
She’s a disgusting fat bitch.
I see . . .
So TaxGuy, what you’re saying is that all aspects of a person’s life are COMPLETELY within their control, and anything that’s “wrong” must be so because the person has not applied himself/herself to the problem? And, of course, if I perceive anything “wrong” about you, I am allowed to use it when making disparaging remarks about some other aspect of your behavior? Even if what’s “wrong” with you is none of my damn business?
Except for the most part we are not talking about mere “getting picked on” for the victims of racism, bigotry and gay bashing. We are talking about things a thousand times worse, if those victims are lucky.
To equate the two in any way is absurd, and insulting to the memories of those murdered, beaten or systematically oppressed. While the “fat crack” was not needed. I found your post infinitely more offensive then the OP’s. I suggest a healthy dose of the History Channel International and the Mathew Sheppard story if you still think these two things are remotely equal.
Hurt feelings? I am sure the victims of racial, religous and sexual orientation discrimination and abuse wish that’s all they had to worry about.
You most certainly are saying that. When you say “she is fat so she’s not conscientious” and you’re using that as a reason for the hit and run, you are essentially saying that all fat people aren’t conscientious and will hit and run. Or is it just this particular fat person you profess to know about? So which is it? Just this fat person or all fat people? Because I just see a wild generalization coming from you. I seriously hope you’re just yanking our chains and that you don’t really believe what you’re saying.
She’s a scumbag, but not because she’s fat. She may even be lazy and not have a medical condition which makes her that way, but you can’t assume anything about her. And it doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t be a good, conscientious driver.
Maybe I’m misreading your reply, and by “she” you mean all fat people…the behemoth in the OP is clearly a terrible driver who should have her license taken away for a year or two.
BTW, I can make at least a couple of smart-ass assumptions about her:
