Serious Ortiz and Damon (twice) first-pitch action - 8-1, Bosox!
Exactly what alternate reality are we in?
If this is a dream, don’t wake me!

If the Sox win, I’m gonna cry. You don’t want to see me cry, do you?
I wouldn’t have to see it! I bet you don’t even have a webcam.
Still 8-1, at the stretch.
Can this be??
8-3 top of the seventh.
You wouldn’t believe how packed the trains to 161st street were tonight. Or maybe you would.
If we lose, there’ll be no joy in Mudville tomorrow morning. My co-workers will be wicked grumpy, grumpier than they have been with the sleep deprivation. Arrrgh.
OH NO! I said wicked!! That’s Boston slang! They’re so insidious!
Anyone have a clue about why they took Lowe out and brought in Pedro?
8-3, and the crowd came back to life.
And then Bellhorn crashes a ball into the foul pole screen!
9-3!
Dude, I won’t be sure that the Yankees can’t come back until it’s four innings deep in game 3 of the world series.
It isn’t so much that I believe the Yankees can come back, as I’m aware of the Red Sox’ preturnatural jinxed-ness. I remember 1978 and 1986. I won’t believe they’ve won until after the last out.
Okay, okay, a little from column A, a little from column B. The Yankees are good. Damn good.
Although my Sox pain theory requires the Sox to break new ground in the modern era of fan torture. Throughout the past few years my non sox fan friends (which is most of them considering my location) have opined the imminent demise of teh sox at various times. My response: Not yet, wouldn’t be painful enough. (and each time they have managed to stave off defeat until such classics as last years ALCS). So I am not sure that a late inning collapse here would sufficiently break new ground painwise (we only think it would peg the torturometer, but no, this one goes to 11).
As an aside, though this belongs more in the Fox baseball hatred thread, Sox fans do not give a shit about making history. We just want to win the damn series.
At least Lowe’ll get the win.
He and I were teammates in high school. (Well, for a few weeks; I quit one game into the season. I’m such a dumbass.)
Happy
Only 3 more outs…
ixnay on the erconfidenceovay!
Cabrera sac fly, scoring Nixon…an insurance run!
10-3.
Three more outs.
Can it happen?
Hmm. I’ve only the tiniest bit of turmoil in the pit of my stomach.
Three outs to go.
Will it be foulke? Embree?
It’s okay, it’s only Matsui. He always gets on base.
(seriously, what is his batting average against the rest of the league? It can’t be that great or he’d be one of the greatest hitters ever)
One more out.
Sa-weet
It’s a shame that the Red Sox will end up losing to the Astros or Cardinals. Stupid curse.
Rivers run uphill, the French Army conquers the world, and the U.S. pays off the national debt.
Heh, there are BoSox celebrating on the mound in the middle of Yankee stadium. The apocalypse is here. Boston has so much momentum and confidence now, can they be stopped?
