We’re back! I didn’t expect Greg Grunberg to be back, too. I thought he was strictly a one-shot appearance due to Kevin Smith, but apparently he’s going to be popping in from time to time.
And the good ole Allen Angst™ is back, too. Seems like all this show is ever about anymore is Barry trying to prevent a loved one’s death, either in the past or in the future. That gave them an excuse to pull out Vibe Vision™ to tease us with future headlines. The villain for the Supergirl/Flash musical crossover, in case you haven’t heard, you could figure it out from this episode: it’s going to be the Music Meister.
The Flash Museum, er, S.T.A.R. Labs Museum is also going to be closing. Does that mean H.R. is going back to his Earth? Or maybe his past is going to catch up to him, as the ending tease seems to imply. Whichever, dude still annoying and still doesn’t bring much to the team. Except for one thing - Cisco’s glitchy hologram was hilarious.
I enjoyed this episode. I really like the new H.R. precisely because he’s useless but tries. He’s a man for whom “greatness will never come” but he pushes ahead anyway. As long as “The Flash” doesn’t become as overdone as “Arrow” I’m ok with it, but it is certainly the low point of the show.
Who must be played by Neil Patrick Harris. Accept no substitutes!
The future of his Earth. I stand by my “Douche Harrison is Abra Kadabra” theory. Although…sending Gypsy (Gypsy!!!) to catch Kadabra is an iffy choice. Kind of like sending a fly to stop a nuclear missile.
As of right now, I think we’ve got a complete set of founding members of the ghastly Justice League Detroit? We’ve got Steel and Vixen over in LoT, Vibe (and now Gypsy) in Flash and Martian Manhunter in Supergirl.
I used to read the ghastly Justice League Detroit. Wasn’t its leader Aquaman? He had telepathic control over humans, not just sea life. Tried to control Batman once. Yeah, that ended well.
Just had a thought about how Barry may be financing the great apartment. Maybe he sold the “Hall of Justice” looking building. Then, at some point, it will turn out he sold it to some kind of villain, and they’ll have to get it back, and someone will say, “You know, this would be a really great HQ…”
Also, I’m guessing that turtle will turn out to be important in the future. A shapeshifter? Some kind of bug the current Wells has disguised is on it?
I’ve read it’s Gypsy. If she has powers like in the 1980’s comics, she can control others’ perceptions so that she seems invisible and can cause hallucinations.
OTOH, that Gypsy wasn’t a bounty hunter/cop/hired gun at all.
When Barry told Iris that he’d save her, he said, “I swear it on my parents’ lives!” Considering that Reverse Flash killed his mother and Zoom killed his father, that’s not such a great vow.
Just saw this. It annoyed me that they arbitrarily decided that changing those news items would save Iris. I got the domino 'explanation. but what makes those news items the dominoes? Changing one of them to demonstrate that the future can be changed - fine, what relevance do the others have aside from the writers have decided that’s the roadmap to follow?
The headlines and news items were the only concrete things that they knew of the future, other than that Savitar kills Iris. How else could they have determined that they were making any difference in the possible outcome?
What’s annoying to me is Barry already has tons of demonstrable proof that the future is malleable. How many times has he already changed the timeline himself? Hell, he just vowed to never do it again, after creating “Flaspoint” — and now he needs proof?
I love the show and am going along with it, but c’mon.
Two points, first if Iris knows when she is going to die, she might feel immortal till then since she knows when she’s going to die. Second, why don’t they just take Iris to “Supergirl World” to hide out when it gets close to her death. An article about an alternate universe would do wonders for her career.
