The second season of The Flash culminated with Barry, hurt over the loss of his father, running back in time to save his mother from the Reverse Flash. Even viewers who weren’t aware of Flashpoint and its consequences knew that Barry altering such a character-defining moment couldn’t be good for the timeline. Viewers who were aware of Flashpoint from the comics or its movie adaptation Flashpoint Paradox knew that Barry saving his mother was a really, really Bad Idea. Well, here’s the trailer Season 3 of The Flash, just released at Comic-Con, the first episode of which will be called “Flashpoint”: - YouTube
I was just going to post about The Flash, but the CW shows are all interconnected (including Supergirl now), so feel free to post about them as well. Such as this trailer for Legends of Tomorrow: - YouTube
Flash is the only show left out of their whole interconnected world. Arrow was horrible last season, I only lasted a few episodes of Legends, and Supergirl was cute as hell but everyone around her sucked.
Legends’ Big Bad was indeed underwhelming; the standalone episodes like Jonah Hex and future one-armed Oliver were much stronger. But the final episodes were pretty solid. Next season, as per the tease at the end of the first season, we’re going to see the Justice Society of America. Plus, apparently, the Legion of Doom.
Supergirl certainly laid on grrl power a bit too think in the initial episodes. I think it really found its footing around episode six or so. Except for Jimmy Olsen; he just sucked for the whole season and I wish the writers wouldn’t try to force his relationship with Kara. For the next season, they’ve actually cast Tyler Hoechlin to play the Man of Steel.
I watch 'em all. I put off Supergrrl 'til it was over and binge watched it. Yeah, too much oppressed woman stuff. It’s not 1950 anymore.
Legends has potential, but they’re struggling to find their groove. Arrow sucked its first season too, so maybe they’ll work out the kinks. I hear they’ll have two new cast members next season.
I just knew there would be a musical episode. Urg. Oh, well. Half the cast are song & dance types I guess.
Some other news I liked. There will be a four-way crossover between shows (Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow) in December, and Lynda Carter will play the POTUS on Supergirl.
Also, Calista Flockhart will be moving into “special guest star” territory on Supergirl due to the show filming in Vancouver. Cat Grant will appear in fewer episodes because of Flockhart remaining in L.A.
According to the executive producers, Flashpoint is going to affect the entire CW-verse, especially Arrow. One can hope that will include bringing Black Canary back from the dead, but that’s probably not gonna happen. I think Supergirl will merge during the big four-way crossover, sometime after the official events of Flashpoint but possibly a consequence of it.
And with Cat Grant appearing less, Kara’s new boss will be Snapper Carr.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Snapper was the Justice League of America’s teenage sidekick/mascot for the first few years back in the Silver Age. He was a finger-snapping hero worshiper until the writers became tired of him and had him betray the League. None of which probably matters for the TV series.
Oh jeez, flashbacks and horribly pronounced Russian.
Maybe they’ll bring Oliver’s best friend Tommy back from the dead. Wasn’t he Malcolm Merlyn’s son? They seem to bring him back in flashbacks often enough. Give him a few weeks of “training really hard” and he could be a superhero.
The products have did that they’ve always planned for 5 years of flashbacks. The 5th season corresponds to the 5th year, when he goes to Russia and after that, they are done.
The CW has released a new version of the Superhero Fight Club, inducting Supergirl. Unfortunately, they want you to install their CW App to view the whole thing. However, you can see a trailer for it here: - YouTube (Whoever heard of such a thing, a trailer for a promo?) With a little digging you can find the full version floating around, but I can’t link to them here. Honestly, most of the best parts were in that trailer.
