Was there ever any question that Savitar would be defeated? If you had figured out last week that HR had replaced Iris, then the episode played out pretty much as you’d expect. If only HR hadn’t revealed himself almost immediately, then maybe Savitar would never have realized the deception. He’d have carried on for a few hours until the moment he derezzed and the drama with the Speedforce coming back for blood would never have happened (since Jay Garrick would still be trapped in there).
How does the derezzing process work anyway? When Eddie shot himself, Eobard derezzed almost immediately. Now Barry alters Savitar’s moment of origin, and it takes a few hours for Savitar’s ultimate destruction. But when Barry does something new, Savitar remembers the event immediately.
That felt like a lackluster finale. The death worked exactly as everyone guessed. To me it would have been more interesting if Savitar/Future Barry really did want to turn over a new leaf.
One thing: my DVR cut early. Did anything happen at the end after the close up of Iris crying?
How the hell did Iris SHOOT Savitar with an ordinary bullet, while he was moving at super speed toward Barry?!?
For one, he would have been moving way too fast for her to draw a bead on him, unless she had superhuman sharpshooter reflexes. For another, even if she did have superhuman sharpshooter reflexes, Savitar runs faster than a speeding bullet! The bullet would not have caught up with him!
So, with H. R. dead, is Harry going to hang around for awhile, or is Team Flash going to welcome a new doppelganger next season? It would be good if Harry stayed around to help find a way to bring Barry out of the Speed Force before heading back to Earth 2. (And maybe he could help Tracy with her grief over losing H. R.)
Also, the whole earthquake / lightning storm was still going on until he walked into the speed force. With the carnage all around, I kept wondering how many people had to die so that Barry could say all his good-byes.
So Tom Cavanagh has played 5 different characters on “The Flash”. (Almost all without holotechnology.):
[ol]
[li]the real Dr. Harrison Wells (Earth-1, seen when Reverse Flash kills him and his wife)[/li][li]Reverse Flash, pretending to be Harrson Wells E-1[/li][li]Dr. Harry Wells E-2[/li][li]H.R. Wells E-19[/li][li]Iris West disguised as H.R.[/li][/ol]
I wonder if the presence of Clifford De Voe, the supervillain genius The Thinker, will mean the show doesn’t bring in a new Wells. Wells has always been a genius or someone supposed to be a genius.
For that matter, how did Savitar take out 2 speedsters by chopping down trees as he passed by them. At the speeds they were going, the trees wouldn’t even have begun to fall yet.
I just had a thought: Wally lost his powers due to Savitar losing his memory because Barry lost his memory. Now that Savitar is no longer with us due to his never having been created in the first place, Wally should no longer have powers either.
Which means taht Wally could never try to help and release savitar from the speed force by accidently throwing the thing that would not be created that would release him.
I really hate time travel - who writes this shit anyway?
