The Forbidden Weird Wild West Mafia Thread

This strategy…honestly, I just really really dislike the way that a lot of claims end up being taken totally at face value, and especially in closed games I tend to play a very low-key game in which I preferentially try to find scum hiding in the ranks of the claimed.

Can I get some spoilers as well, please?

My general approach to claims is that, if the claim is of something that can eventually be confirmed, I’ll give the claimant the benefit of the doubt for long enough to confirm it. If it’s something unconfirmable, though, I don’t give it much weight one way or the other.

And I still can’t fathom why Meeko rolled thousands of dice or whatever it was to kill Tom Scud. Random is random; if he were going to choose his target randomly (itself already a bad idea), a single die would have been plenty.

My take on it was he rolled dice until they randomly came up the result he wanted.

From what I read, he used three different methods, and all three of them got the same result.

I die.

I really am an unnoteworthy player, aren’t I? I rarely seem to do anything interesting. Just searching for my name in this thread brings up my offer to bribe Chronos for analysis.

And yes, I was joking about that. I can’t spare a single in game dollar.

Not at all unnoteworthy. In the three games I’ve seen you in, you’ve used the powers you were dealt quite effectively twice, and even without powers, you’ve done a good job at Scum-hunting and saying sensible things.

So, how badly did I do then

Gah! I still can’t believe that they lynched me for that! That seriously, wasn’t even like, anything! I miscounted–not in a scummy way, but in a simple :smack: way. And I was acting waaay more scummy at points, things that people might have picked up on. Like how I kept poking Story’s comments about 3rd parties. Now, that was an actual scum tactic.

If it’s any consolation pedescribe - you were top of my scum list for that Day.

Then you should maybe have said something to that effect in the thread? Not that I have much sympathy for you, of course, you evil scum.

Of course, it’s possible that there were other subconscious reasons why folks were suspecting you, and that was just what was closest to the surface and easiest to articulate.

I was actually going to mention that I suspected Pedescribe earlier in this thread, but I couldn’t put my finger on anything scummy he’d done besides what had already been mentioned in-game.

I think Meeko’s attitude has a decent chance of hurting town, especially if it’s contagious. Say it with me, guys, “Power Roles don’t win games for town, good detective work does!”

You convinced me, CatInASuit.

I still think NAF will turn up PFK. Which means there is at least another scum out there.
Since cucuy got no result on his last investigation, I think he didn’t fail Boozahol’s investigation (unless Godfather).
Meeko and JoeyP blocked suggest not scum --if-- Oredigger is town. But why doesn’t he have a fail rate?

So if NAF flips town, lynch Oredigger. If there is a kill Tonight, lynch Oredigger. Otherwise it is a gamble between scum-Oredigger didn’t kill to imply he blocked Boozahol, or it is actually town-Oredigger who did block scum-godfather/hitman-Boozahol.

All assuming one scum left, since otherwise a pfk-NAF is a town loss. I can’t fit in a Godfather JoeyP (due to the Day Two voted as you argued), so that does have me worrying that there Ore+Boozy are town and the block on him failed.

Hey, is this heaven?

No, it’s Iowa.

Heh.

Can someone tell me what PFK is?

“Plays for Keeps” I think - a third party who wins at the expense of the others, as opposed to a third party who wins along with the other teams.

Ah, cool. Thanks.

Especially this comment from Meeko:

If the game is at lynch or lose now and you’re town, you cannot afford this.

I gotta agree with Boozahol’s vote for him, although if he’s (the single remaining) scum it’s also a smart move, since it keeps NAF around for lynching Tomorrow.

Although a Town NAF can then stop the lynch to get another Day of discussion.
