Speak of the devil (just a saying Meeko, nothing personal)…
Why are you sorry for NAF, if you voted for him because he is scum? You should be sorry for town for placing a literal OMGUS vote at this point in the game.
And as you noted before, only your death will verify you. The fact that there is no other way is part of the game - deal with it and come with arguments.
Did you vote to lynch scum where it wasn’t a bus? Can you convince the rest there is only one scum left and it is not Oredigger and that he doesn’t have a fail rate, meaning his block makes it unlikely you are scum?
But more importantly: is there anymore more scummy then you? You don’t need to be verified, you need to find scum!
(Of course, if you are scum: good job on using your play style to your advantage ;)).
Actually, if I think NAF is PFK/Third Party (scum with Day Kill and Vote Buy power?! No way) lynching Boozy Today isn’t that bad an idea.
Yeah, I just read that in Orediggers post as well - not following that closely. And Godfather with an extra kill is unlikely, so in was wrong.
If NAF does stop the lynch, it doesn’t hurt town unless at lynch or lose Today, so town will have to find someone else to lynch if he’s not scum. It won’t hurt to lynch him again, unless there is another extra kill.
Yeah, Meeko’s first game, he was a Mason, and his second game, he made an uncontested claim of a name that everyone was certain would be Town, so I think he’s gotten it into his head that “Meeko gets confirmed” is an inevitable event in these games. Of course, it’s not, and this game, he has no more proof of his innocence than anyone else.
I don’t understand at all the claims that NAF is overpowered as written. He’s effectively a stock inventor if his claims are true–3-4 powers, some of which have failure rates, with one-two one-shot spectacular things he can do (like stop the lynch).
I mean, he might be relatively powerful, but no more than a standard vig.
Probably part of the perception is that he’s a very good player and often knows how to use his powers repeatedly and with great vigor in order to help town in novel ways, so he pulls more weight than is typical anyway.
Part of it is circular reasoning: People assume he must be Scum because he’s overpowered (though what the reasoning behind that is, I don’t know, especially considering the quick and successful lynches of MentalGuy and Storyteller), and some of his powers would indeed be overpowered in the hands of Scum. If a Scum had the ability to stop lynches, buy votes, and Day-kill, Town wouldn’t stand a chance.
So the argument goes something like “He’s overpowered, and therefore must be Scum; he’s Scum, and therefore his powers make him overpowered”.
I have no idea who could be scum at this point since Joey could be a Godfather and NAF could be non-town. The only one I’m sure of is Boozy but I blocked both NAF and Joey on nights when there were kills so unless they are both scum and out guessed me (wouldn’t take much) I’ve got no read on what’s going on.
I’ll wait on spoilers since this thing should be over pretty quick.
NAF’s making a convincing case at this point I’m leaning toward Joey but I’ve seen scum NAF make very persuasive arguments before and so I’m always wary of trusting him.
I’m glad I pressed cucuy on this because his earlier post didn’t explicitly state he investigated him a town, just gunman.
So we got Boozy as Town Gunman or Crimson Thorn Godfather with an extra kill (IIRC he made it when only one scum left and killed town).
Small possibility the CT role-blocker messed with this investigation.
We got NAF with:
-one claimed successful watch
-one claimed (possibly, but not likely successful) self protect
-one claimed failed Day kill
-one claimed failed watch
-one successful Day Kill (killed town)
-one successful vote buy
-one remaining claimed vote buy
-two claimed lynch stops
The failures were not known to NAF. Ok, not scum with those powers, but could still be PFK or town. Both the watch+kill makes it seem imbalanced to me, but it’s evened out by the failure rate.
And last JoeyP, who got investigated and blocked (but with other scum around). He also voted Oredigger with pedescribe to save himself and Mental Guy Day Two.
Except Allwaker was scum roleblocker right? He and MentalGuy voted JoeyP that Day.
Still I’m going with JoeyP as the Crimson Thorn Godfather.
I think the game’s pretty much over, now. I see three possibilities (well, I know which one it is, but I’ll avoid spoiling it):
1: NAF is Scum, and has the vote-buy power he claims. In this case, nobody can stop him from getting engineering the last mislynch. Game over.
2: NAF is Scum, but is lying about the vote-buy power. Both the other players have their votes on him, and have no reason to voluntarily move them off. The last Scum dies, game over.
3: NAF is Town or third-party (it doesn’t even matter which, at this point), and has the vote-buy power. He can completely decide the lynch, and just has to decide whether Boozy or Joey is Scum. Outcome isn’t yet determined, but nothing anyone else can do can matter (aside from possibly convincing NAF one way or the other).
I would like to see a game with color that made that completely clear, though. Maybe in a game with a supernatural or science fiction theme, you could have them discover a way to bring the winning faction back to life. In a more realistic game, perhaps they don’t actually die.
Oh, and here’s something I said on the spoiler board that I think deserves more general comments:
Just want to point out that it would be inanely stupid for a 1 on 1 not to be a Scum win, at least for color reasons. Think about it. The only reason the Scum kill at Night instead of during the Day is that they don’t want anyone to know they are Scum. But, at 1 on 1, there’s no one left to find out that won’t be dead.
The reason I suspected a 3rd party was entirely based on the unreveal. I’m still not sure why you did that, Mahaloth. I was very surprised there was no resurrection component to this game. And I couldn’t picture Scum with that power.
With the idea that there must be at least one 3rd party, NAF just seemed like a good fit. I should have stuck with my first intuition, that NAF’s powers were all one-shots.
