The greatest line from any movie or TV

Capt Kirk in Balance of Terror:

Full Astern!! Emergency warp speed!!

“I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks.” - Breaking Bad

I know you thought this was a manageable situation, but some situations are unmanageable.

Knockaround Guys

Since I’ve slogged through this entire thread so as not to repeat a quote (unlike some of you other lazy bastages), I’m going to permit myself a bonus quote. But I’ll link it to youtube, so if you don’t want to, you don’t have to listen to it and can keep my official count to one.

With that said:

Chevy Chase’s rant in Christmas Vacation, i.e.

“I want him brought right here. With a big ribbon on his head. And I wanna look him straight in the eye, and tell him what a cheap, lying, no good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-assed, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm headed, sack of monkey shit he is! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where’s the Tylenol?”

So many good ones to choose from, but I’ll go for one off the wall a bit. From the movie In Bruges, I give you the cunt rant.

TV:

No more, Butchie. No more o’ this.

“I AM no MAN.” -Eowyn, in Return of the King. Gives me chills every damn time. (Even though the original line in the book was way more badass.)

“It says ‘balls’ on your face.” -Garden State

That line is made by that music playing along with it, Great combination of song and script.

Agreed. There are some great quote lines in that movie. And for those that have never seen it (or if you did and missed it) you get a chance to see a younger “Uncle Leo” from Seinfeld fame.

After filtering out the ones that were already taken:

“Do you know what I really hate?”
“That your date melted?”
“Nah… you.”

All I need is a word and not a line.

It’s from Skycaptain and the World of Tomorrow.

LENSCAP

This thread needs more horror movies.

"Your suffering will be legendary…even in hell!" - Pinhead, from Hellraiser.

I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog, too.

This perhaps stretches the definition of “line,” but…I give you President Bartlett, from West Wing:

You’re a son of a bitch you know that? She bought her first new car and you hit her with a drunk driver. What, is that supposed to be funny? “You can’t conceive nor can I the strangeness of the mercy of God,” says Graham Green. I think I know who’s ass he was kissing there, 'cause I think your’re just vindictive. What was Josh Lyman, the warning shot? That was my son, what did I ever do to yours but praise his glory and praise his name? There’s a tropical storm that’s gaining speed and power. They say we haven’t had a storm this bad since you took out that Tender ship of mine in the North Atlantic last year, sixty-eight crew. You know what a Tender ship does? It fixes the other ships, and, delivers the mail, that’s all it can do. Gracias Tibiago Domine. Yes, I lied. It was a sin, I’ve committed many sins. Have I displeased you, you feckless thug? Three point eight billion new jobs that wasn’t good? Bailed out Mexico, Increased foreign trade, 30 million new acres of land for conservation, put Mendoza on the bench, we’re not fighting a war, I’ve raised 3 children. That’s not enough to buy me out of the doghouse?
Hace credam a deo pio? A deo iusto, a deo scico? Cruciatus in crucem. Tuus in terra sertvus, nuntius fui. Officium perfecti. Cruciatus in crucem. Eas in crucem.
(Translation: Am I really to believe that these are the acts of a loving God? A just God? A wise God? To hell with your punishments. I was your servant here on Earth. And I spread your word and I did your work. To hell with your punishments. To hell with you.)

All good, but since the season finale of Breaking Bad, this has become my favorite:

“I won.”

The entire movie Ocean’s 11 (2001) is quotable.

since a lot of mine were taken I offer up from Barton Fink:

Look upon me! I’ll show you the life of the mind!

Isn’t this line from the sequel “2010”?

It’s not in 2001 (although I haven’t seen any of the Special Editions).

Earlier today I posted Roy’s death speech as one of my favorite “movie monologues” in the thread by that name. Then, I looked into this thread for the first time, and would have posted it again, but no need- it’s been listed at least three times already. Kind of gratifying to see I’m not the only one.

My official entry to this thread will make no sense to anyone who doesn’t know the movie (Harvey), so with my apologies…
Wilson: “Is he alone?”

Bartender: **“Well, there’s two schools of thought, sir.”
**

Actually, that’s the line from the 2001 book. IIRC, 2010 has the line simply as “My God! It’s full of stars!”

and…

“Take me now, subcreature!”
