The Historical Birthdays MMP

Morning all. The MMP is good for my health because as I think about typing “pill taken…” I then remember to do so. One load of laundry working and maybe a second, and dishes will get washed sometime. Also will start the packing routine for the Great Trip Southward so that I’ll have time to remember something I forget.

Started raining during the night and looks like it’ll continue for most of the day, not stormy but what my Mom used to call a ‘good soaking rain’, so outside of procuring dinner no particular reason to go outside today. Tackleball will be watched.

swampy, obviously, you are a man of commitments…

Ms. Owl, quite a double feature!!

nellie, I really need to see a ENT one of these days; my hearing (especially in crowds) is getting worse, but lazy old me and doctors…hope you’re doing better.

boo fae, a 3 hour drive to spend time in (hopefully) warm and sunny Spain? I think you’ll do just fine.

JtC, lucky, my bed has a sit-down space at the end that is perfect for adding shoes to feet, so no chair needed; plus virtually everything I have is slip-ons, outside of one pair of gym shoes.

FCM,glad MIL (with, I suspect, you and FCD’s help) stuck to her guns and got the price she wanted. Now just the paperwork…

JtC, glad the smoker still lives; something will break around here one of these days.

OK, that’s all from Casa Rat. Some morning internettin’ and then try to beat the Church crowds to dinner. Ally’all take care.

Good morning.

It’s currently 30 degrees and dark outside. The expected high is 41 with sunny skies. Temps are supposed to dip tonight and tomorrow.

We did not make it to UHaul, which was annoying, but maybe next weekend.

I did some general tidying around the house, and that’s about it. I had GrubHub deliver dinner, which was meh, but no one at the house had to cook.

I’m sorry to hear about your ears, nellie. I hope you can be seen soonest and get on the road to recovery.

I remembered in the wee hours of the morning that I hadn’t paid my damn HOA dues for the year. I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I need to get that taken care of today. I’m surprised they haven’t sent me an email, but no one wants to be an officer on the board, including me, so things could have changed concerning who I should be giving my check to. This is the only bill I use a check for. I wish they’d just set up an account so I could send the money electronically.

FCM, glad to hear of the house sale and that MiL stuck to her guns.

Well, that’s about all that’s going on around here.

I hope you all have a pleasant day.

OK - dishes loaded into the dishwasher and kitchen tidied. I showered and dressed and ran some errands - gassed up the car, got replacement terlit guts, got a few things at WalMart, and stopped in Aldi. Note to self: avoid Aldi on Sunday.

I’ve got a load of towels in the washer and 4 more loads to get done. Not that big a deal - the machines do the worst of the work - I just need to fold and stow. Meanwhile, I can read.

Onward!

SWMBO wanted SOB for breakfast. So I made it.

It’s a rainy and dreary Sunday here, but at 45°F it isn’t nearly as cold as it could be. Sometimes it’s the little things…

I started my laundry this morning, but I’ve spent most of the day so far doing some case-tracking-log cleanup for my “old” volunteer committee. I sent everyone a note about the updates; hopefully the spreadsheet will be a little more useful going forward. I have a call scheduled for this evening with the former chair of my “new” committee, to start that transition: she had gum surgery last week and is still recovering/catching up on stuff, but I’m starting to get questions (and applications) from members and I need to know what to do! I’m hoping we can cover some basics tonight, then schedule a deeper dive for another time if needed. I’m also hoping to set up a Zoom with her former co-chair sometime today: he said he’s still interested in being on the committee and would have a bunch of free time today, but I haven’t gotten a response to last night’s “great! what time would be best for you?” email yet.

I’m currently as caught up on everything as I can be, and it’s almost 1:45 – time to relocate to the living room and do some reading while eating more leftover tuna casserole.

I have 1.5 books left in the series I’m reading, and after I’m all caught up I’ll shift my daily lunchtime activity to building a LEGO set for the first time in decades: a jazz quartet! I learned about its existence shortly before Christmas, but it was out of stock until recently. It was delivered on Friday. Earlier this month LEGO released a jazz club, but it’s $$$ and has 1300 more pieces. I’ll see how this one goes first…including how much swearing I wind up doing.

Checked my lottery tickets on the way back from Rite-Aid. I won $150 on Hit 5.

The jazz club looks like a lot of work, but a lot of fun too oopsie.

I got everything cut, coordinated and stamped for my Easter cards this afternoon. Right now, I’m taking a Sunday dinner break. The pork / mushroom stew turned out very well. After KP, I’ll be back to the studio until time to start prepping for bed. Such excitement!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got back to da cave and had N.O.L. and achieved nappage. Also, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Now we continue to sloth and chill. Rain is imminent, so good to be inside and dry I reckon. We have a bench at the end of the bed which works well for puttin’ on shoes and so forth.

FlyBoy congrats on the lottery win. A hunnert and fiddy bucks is a hunnert and fiddy bucks!

MOOOOOOM yay for the house sale and yay for MIL stickin’ to her price. May it all be completed soonest.

Nellie hope the ears are feelin’ better soonest.

Oopsie have fun with the jazz quarted thingy.

Afternoon all. The tackleball game is not all that interesting so I am visiting various websites on my laptop to get the system set up for travel. Have done a load of laundry and had meatloaf for dinner, mailed the only bill I was concerned about leaving behind (it came in the mail Saturday) and will get the dishwasher going here in a bit (will probably eat out tomorrow).

SOB? Have heard of SOS, but not SOB.

Flyboy, congrats on the extra $$$.

OK, may get the luggage bags out and start the packing routine…we’ll see.

Take care all.

Creamed chipped beef on a biscuit.

Only walked 0.92 miles today, but The Spousal Unit and I walked together. Almost a mile is pretty good for her. Then I chopped three or four pieces of firewood into kindling, and took out the trash and recycling.

Anything over a kilobuck, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital gets a cut. (You listenin’ St. Jude?)

Happy Sunday!

It’s been dreary all day, in the mid 40s.

I irked most of the weekend.
It was irksome.
Maybe one day I’ll get to be a retired drain on society, and live a life of sloth.

Every week I say I a going to get caught up and organized, and every week it doesn’t happen.

Glad your MIL’s house sold FCM
Another thing to cross off the list.

Congrats Flyboy on the win.
I assume SOB is shit on a biscuit?

Not much worse for pain than an earache Nellie.
I hope you get some relief soon.

Good luck with the drive Boo Fae
I couldn’t do it.

I always wonder about the connection between being committed in an institution, and being committed to a relationship.

JtC, some dogs are considered to be closer to wolves genetically than others.

They are a little harder to train, a little more independent, a little more “I don’t give a fuck” than other breeds. The lists vary depending on the site, but Akitas and Malamutes are almost always on them. Shar Pei usually are too.
Then again, I think all the Asian breeds have attitude.

Fantastic!

Things are wild here in philly. The city is going wild. Big crowds everywhere. I can hear the helicopters but the crowds are well away from my neighborhood. They are climbing the greasy poles. Hopefully here won’t be too much damage.

I take it the Eagles won.

Cleaned, napped, watching hockey. i pulled a muscle in my arm this morning. Using my hairdryer. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Well when quarterback #3 is injured, but has to go back in because quarterback #4 has a concussion, and your running back has to be your 5th quarterback to play for you, yeah. :grimacing:

Yes, the eagles did win. It will be a long night in philly.

I saw an urgent care doc. The ear thing is apparently caused by a sinus infection. I inherited crap sinuses, so I generally ignore symptoms. I’m on antibiotics. If the ear congestion doesn’t clear up, I need to see an ENT. I reeeeally hope it clears up, as I’d probably have to wait months to see an ENT. She also did this weird sinus manipulation because she’s a DO, not an MD (dammit).

Ten minutes later, I was at the pharmacy, and amazingly, my order was already ready!

Congrats, flyboy! I like your promise to St. Jude and hope he’s listening. If not, he’s probably busy with some hopeless causes, like a certain presidential candidate.

I’d better move around so I can stay awake until after dinner. My ear kept me up last night.

Remember when I tried to buy a cell phone, some time back?  We had travelled a significant distance to get to a store that we knew had the phone in stock that I wanted, it was late in the day, and when I tried to buy the phone, my card was locked?  Several angry phone calls to the number on the card, and known numbers for our credit union, failed to get me to anyone that could resolve the issue that day.

OK, it was just a cell phone, something that I did not urgently need that evening, but it caused us both to waste a lot of time and frustration.  What if we had been travelling further from home, and needed to buy fuel, or food, or lodging?  That would have been very, very bad.

Also, today is National Curmudgeon Day.
Get off my lawn.

{{{nellie}}}

I’ve had a card blocked twice. Both times while I was trying to get out of a pya parking lot. I understnd your frustration.

Maybe we can figure out the Saint for Crap Sinuses and light candles for nellie’s sinuses to give her a break. My sympathies as I have crap sinuses too. The eardrum hurt is the worst.
