I can now feel my lips. Before cranking up the grey ghost, I called the pharmacy. The scrips that the oral surgeon sent over aren’t ready, so I’ll try again tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, I think I trust myself with soup. ![]()
Grandma will be in Indianapolis when we’re at the ocean.
Only if you trust the weather-guessers! ![]()
We had supper at Texas Roadhouse because why not? On the way, we had to swing thru CVS. When FCD picked up his gabapentin refill, we found 2 bottles of someone else’s gabapentin in the bag with his. I guess that makes up for last time when they shorted him 2 bottles…
No, he did get what was coming to him last time, and we returned the two bottles destined for some woman named Mary, because we’re nice, dammit, and poor Mary needs her drugs!!
It’s cold and rainy and ick out. We’re in chillage mode. Tomorrow after I pick up Roxy, we’ll swing by their house to let their dog out to pee and get some toys for the kids, then head to MIL’s apartment. Daughter will join us there and we’ll have a pizza supper. That way if they do head to Indy on Sat, Daughter will get a chance to see Aunt and Uncle before they leave. Plus, yanno, PIZZA!! ![]()
Time to assume the chillage position.
ETA: My girl in orange! They were collecting supplies to send to Ukraine.
Three biggish logs left. I’ve chopped up all the rest. The covered wood stack is essentially full.
Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions, had a fried chikin N.O.L., achieved nappage, day drank, and in general were our usual slothful retired drains on society. All in all a good day. It’s been really rainy most all day, but we took advantage of a lull in the rain at eleven this mornin’ and went to the Pubic Sto. We made it back to da cave and pulled in the garage just as it started pourin’ rain again. Go Us!
MOOOOOOM sounds like the Tobester has found a new game with goin’ up and down the stairs. Not too fun for grandma, but anything to entertain the toddler, right?
BooFae sorry about your friend’s husband. May she find peace in the comin’ days. Also, I know your staffer is goin’ to Athens, Greece, However, whenever I see Athens, my mind goes to Athens, Jawja, which is the home of the University of Jawja. This is now a totally usless thing you know.
Miss_Owl I am imaginin’ Ruble lookin’ down and sayin’ “go for the pornateria!” Just think, now you have time to go to even more amusement parks and ride even more roller coasters!
WetOne I like Gog as a nickname. Biblically Gog is a force of Satan. He might like that!
Kitten I imagine the plague did prolong your daughter’s church’s search for a new Rector. I am hopin’ to have this all over and done with by the end of the year. Typically a perspective Rector does not Celebrate the Eucharist before he or she is called by the Vestry and the Bishop. That way no one can say they are disappointed that one Rector was chosen over another. I agree about what an omelet is. It’s aigs and stuff all cooked together and optimally, all glued together with cheese.
Nellie sorry you had a rough night last night and glad you’re better today. I know OCD is real, but if he has had a WFH job before, maybe he could do so again with a plan in place to ensure he works the required hours. Makes me wonder what will happen to him once his mother is no longer there to support him.
Butters yum! Except for the candied carrots. I like my carrots uncandied. I prefer them roasted, but will eat them kinda boiled as long as they are not mushy.
red glad the extraction went well. May you continue a speedy and painless recovery.
pup you show up once and you are a Mumper, thus you are a Mumper. Also, looks like you might be in for some snow over the next five days. Be sure you have plenty of aigs and milk.
JtC one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Yay for gettin’ rid of the boots!
Cookie glad the wife got drilled and filled (that sounds dirty!) with no issues. A childish sup is a good thing.
MOOOOOOM I am surprised at y’all gettin’ someone else’s meds. At my pharmacy they show me my meds, plus check to make sure they are my meds, plus read the names and dosages of the meds out to me before they bag 'em and ring 'em up. Kinda makes me wonder if there has been some med mixups in the past for the to do all this, however. Also, pizza is always a big yay!
FlyBoy yay for havin’ < snerk > Wood! < snerk >
Huh. I was expecting poo jokes.
She’s a beautiful little girl, FCM!
Nellie, I’m sorry. That sounds really hard. I like the distinction between determination and hope.
I’ve entered my book in another contest, but I think that’s it. I’m now in the red against what I’ve earned from it.
Supper was good. We decided to plant cabbage and butter crunch lettuce.
I have already got into the bed. I hope I can get to sleep early.
What good kids!
I had a piece of The Wife’s leftover Thai BBQ chicken (no sauce), Beecher’s sharp cheddar, and Trader Joe’s turkey Summer sausage. Wifey had cheese, sausage, and Ritz crackers.
Watching hockey, and having some Glenfiddich. Having haggisspaghetti and meatballs for dinner.
I never Tyre of Biblical puns.

no one gets invited, you just wander in one day, and much like The Hotel California, “you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave”
Evening all. Garbage is at the curb and a Subway 6-inch is in my belly, so all is right with the world. The new space heater is working fine, I’ve turned it on full (it has 3 settings) to see what it can do and it’s pumping out heat just fine.
Have stopped mail for my travel time, need to stop the newspaper too, and I need to make a list of things I must take with me (Passport, Covid shot record, travel reservations) and things to be done (reserve a cab, leave travel info with neighbors and brother). I’ll still forget something, but hopefully it can be replaced on my travels if needed. Still having trouble thinking about vacation in February, although it is the summer/early fall in Argentina.
FCM, that’s a cute picture of the kids, and the good thing they are doing. And lots of folks wouldn’t have bothered to return the incorrect prescription, so yeah for you!
Cookie, if I don’t feel like messing up the griddle, I just toast bread and put a couple of cheese slices in-between, and stick it in the microwave for a few seconds. Works just fine.
JtC, nice of you to donate the semi-Uggs I have two bags of stuff for Purple Heart the next time they pickup around here (probably will be late February/early march), they are my go to organization. Also have some office-type electronics around here and Staples takes them so may have to plan a visit there when I get back.
Wolfie, so, did you get any snow??? And Bernese Mountain dogs are a beautiful breed.
OK, need to finish internettin’ and do some reading tonight, then off to bed. Catch up with you on Thorsday.
My damn furnace is doing the “not crossover every time” thing. Very annoying.
I don’t know how I managed to do this, but another part of the same knee hurts. I have no clue why. I don’t think it’s related to the initial problem. I’m icing it as I type this, so hopefully it’ll be much better tomorrow.
We can’t seem to get him to do so. He claims stomach issues or sleep issues. My sister can’t threaten him with no more support because she couldn’t follow through. He won’t be able to get SSDI. When my sister passes, he’ll inherit enough to keep him going for maybe 2 years. I’ve already told him nobody else will give him money. He was shocked, and I’m sure he’ll try to guilt one of us into it, but I don’t have that kind of money, and my other two siblings refuse, as will his cousins. I love him, and I’ll feel bad, but I’ve told him dozens of times he needs to have a Plan B. He says it upsets him to think about it, which will impede his (glacial) progress.

OK, here’s my wrong meds story. My son was in college and almost out of an Rx antihistamine. I picked up a refill and immediately mailed it. The pharmacist called: “Tell him not to take it!” She’d confused two orders. She said she’d overnight the right meds to him. The ones she’d given me were “little blue pills.”
I don’t think a 19-year-old college student had any need of those. FCM, kudos for doing the right thing.
Boo, I’m sorry you got depressed. It’s an understandable reaction. I think we mourn those kind of losses like we do that of old friends. Alan Alda, who’s 86, said something like the secret of happiness in old age is to keep accepting change and limitations. Easier said than done, but I think he’s right. You have a lot to offer, and the Dope and those kids and grandkids need you regardless of O2 needs.
JtC, good on you for rehoming the Ugh boots. (A student of mine called them that when his sister got a pair for XMas.)
Gentle hugs to those undergoing dental procedures.
Hey! That’s MY cooking secret, LOL!!!
They were nice boots, if I had never worn Uggs, I would have been very happy with them. I’m sure they will serve their new owner well. But…yanno…I’m all spoiled and shit. Plus, I have a nice clean closet.
I’m doing my best to donate things instead of pretending that I will use them someday…cause that is how clutter happens.
I used to make a box/pile of things to take to the thrift store, but the box would become part of the furniture and I would forget to deal with it for like forever and then it would become a chore.
I’m happy that nowadays I can just make a post online and have someone pick up each thing as I come across it. They get something nice for free and I don’t have to think about it anymore. I’m all sorts of lazy like that.
As far as your trip, if you have room toss a couple of charging hubs in your bags. I have been in so many really nice motels that don’t have but one or two USB charging ports that it’s automatic to just grab a few out of the drawer.
I hope you have a great trip and come home with many good memories!
This getting old stuff really bites at times, doesn’t it?
My elbow hurts. The side closest to my body, not out there where it could get bumped on anything. I can’t see a bruise and I can’t feel anything in that dime sized spot, but it has woken me up for the last three nights when I rolled over so I guess I really gotta deal with the lack of doctor thing.
DH and I did actually get out of the house (his irk site is currently stalled by some bureaucratic BS) by going to a couple of parks and playing with metal detectors. Finds were bottle caps and rusty wire. ![]()
Got home to two cats who were less than pleased by delayed suppers.
They’re now fed and we’re binge-watching “Cutthroat Kitchen” for the second evening in a row. We both had an ample lunch at Mel’s Diner (he had chicken-fried steak, I had fish & chips). Further calories can be by foraging, since we have various stuff in the fridge that should get eaten anyway.
So sorry to hear this~my knee humbled me this morning. A memo must have gone out that only aging joints got and not their attached humans. I think the memo said “revolt!”. Another theory, a low pressure weather front passed over both of us.
Thank you for the kind bucking up~what you said so resonated with me. I’ll hang in if you will. You breathe for me and I’ll drive for you.
Did two extra things today so I’m extra tuckered. Crawled into bed and looked at the clock and it was only 9pm. About 3 hours early for this wrinkly old night owl but the flannel sheets prewarmed by my little electric throw between the layers feels so cosy. I’m sure I’ll watch tacky shows on Netflix for a couple hours and burrow in. I often sign off about when doggioleaves for work-may not make it tonight so wear your warm coat and don’t forget your lunch.
Sweet dreams and sleep tight all. I may get all highbrow and watch Call The Midwife instead of nodding off to interminable Law and Orders.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
We did this once and the PO stopped delivery immediately - they didn’t bother reading the dates. We went a week without mail before I called to find out what was going on. This was back when we actually got real mail - before I put everything on automatic payment on line.
I forgot to mention that one of their teachers - Miss Natalya - is Ukranian.
Similar to what FCD is facing with his brother. MIL and FIL did everything for him because he wouldn’t and they worried. As a result, BIL expects everyone to take care of him. FCD told him flat-out that we won’t do that. We’ll gladly help if he asks, but he has to make the calls, etc. So now when FCD goes to the apartment, BIL goes to his room. Nothing like a pouty 63-y/o man-child.
Well put. I may put that on a t-shirt! Deal with what you’ve got, not what you had.
One thing I’m looking forward to on our weekend away is not having to get up and tend to the critters. I can sleep as long as I’d like! I may not sleep in, but I can if I want to! Normally, I feel guilty about Higgs not being able to go empty her little puggy bladder, so I tend to get up around 6, even when I don’t have anything to do. Anyway, for 3 days, I don’t have to sweat it! Huzzah!!
Today is Pizza with Grandma day. I found out last night that Aunt and Uncle don’t like pepperoni. Roxy doesn’t like mushrooms, and I pretty much want mushrooms only. I’ll figure it out, and there will be leftovers for MIL and company. I’ll probably go to Domino’s because it’s closer and it’s definitely cheaper than Pizza Hut. The other place thereabouts is Ledo - a local chain - and they use canned mushrooms, which should be illegal!!
Oh, and there’s a Little Caesar’s - we used to go there all the time in FL but I’ve not been to this one. Maybe I’ll look at their online menu.
So that’s the big plan of the day. Except for FCD taking his mom to the Dr this morning to get the prescription thing straightened out. And I really should rollsuck - the living room is looking particularly furry.
Happy Thursday!!
Good morning everyone. 31F this am and supposed to be dry for awhile and maybe sunny (55F) this pm. Up, coffee, feeling much better. Hoping this is one of the “up” days that Covid grudgingly allows during long recoveries.
Found out last night that my kiddo not only has the plague, but the flu alongside it. He and SO are miserable. Plus he’ll miss a lot of work, because there are still strict policies regarding Covid at some of his travel destinations.
Hilariously, the insurance company sent me a grave sounding email that they’d analyzed and met and cast bones and finally decided the truck was [drum roll] a complete loss. The same thing they told me two weeks ago. I wonder if the various departments know what the others are doing. I’ve been absolutely polite and friendly to the employees who contact me, because these failures are systemic and lay entirely at the feet of incompetent management – who, as always, cower behind lower level employees and the skirts of their lawyers. I’m convinced the low-level folk who I interact with are doing their best. Sorry for the continuing saga, but it’s gone from annoying to appalling, to comical. At least I can laugh at it now.
Me too. {{{Nellie}}} Sorry for what’s happening (or not happening).
For today? If energy levels remain high I will get out and begin reinstalling my equipment on the new truck. I’ll start with the fold-down ladder, as it’s necessary to easily clamber in and out of the bed to install all the other gear. Next will be the bed cover I guess, but not sure I’ll get to it today. Just one task at a time I guess.
Hope everyone has a good day!
