The Historical Birthdays MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 55 and N.O.S. We have had a cool down after all the rain yestiddy. No big plans for the day which is fine with us. It shall be a day of sloth and high general overall uselessness. Sup shall be chili and fixin’s with cornbread. Since the chili is already made it will be easy-peasey to make.

Nellie, Boo etal gettin’ old ain’t for sissies. I wake up and wonder what part of me will decide to ache today for no apparent reason.

Pulley happy truck makeover! I was gonna say remodel, but makeover seems to be more of what you’re doin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Are you a Bernese Mountain dog?

We got 6" of snow yesterday with more forecast for this afternoon. I shoveled just enough of a path to get to the cars and the front sidewalk and up to the front porch for the mailperson. Then went for a walk. It was 6pm, so dark and the trees looked so beautiful with the snow coating all the limbs and twigs.

red sounds like the dental surgery went well; that’s great!

plain Ritz or the Garden flavor Ritz? I just discovered the Garden flavor and REALLY like them!

Am looking forward to a travelogue. I enjoy being a vicarious traveler.

It’s the European and US Figure Skating Championships week so there will be a lot of watching figure skating in the next 4 days. Have never watched the European Championships before and it was interesting yesterday seeing different skaters and different routines.

Watched the women’s AO semis this morning, pretty good matches. The final between Rybakina and Sabalenka should be very good. Only other plan today is to go to Yoga this afternoon. Hubs is planning to make chicken parm for dinner, I’ll brine the chicken for him. Will also make Honey Roasted Root Vegetables as an accompaniment.

Make it a great one and drive safe if you have snow/ice.

Morning all. Need to do a little shopping, mostly to try out size 44 jeans at Duluth Trading (my current size 46’s need the next-to-last hole on my belt to stay up) and too look at carry-on travel bags at Wal-Mart, so that should occupy my morning, then to the gym this afternoon to burn some calories. Only getting to 44F today, so a good time to be inside.

Yanker, sorry to hear about the kid; that’s a tough combination. And maybe one day you will get that magic check from your insurance…hopefully before you have tyo trade in your new vehicle…

FCM,enjoy Pizza Day. My PO is pretty good with the dates; now, I’ve had to deliver mis-delivered mail twice to my neighbors this week…

nellie, charging hubs are on my list, already have a couple of convertors for the plugs.

OK, need to break fast and make myself presentable for the public. Take care all.

I hope that your knee feels better soon nellie.

Sounds like you’re moving in to your new truck yank. Hope your son et al recover soonest.

I had the first decent night’s sleep since Friday last night with only a couple of tylenol for pain. I’m still sore, but that’s to be expected. The dental sugeon told me that the wisdom tooth behind the extracted one may shift a little, now that there’s room to do so, making it semi-useful.

I need to purtify shortly to head to the pharmacy. While I’m there, I may pick up the very few groceries that I’ll need for the week.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

the libre thing is done and lager’s insulin has been increased by a half unit. now they want me to try transitioning him to a new can food. the other attempts at transitioning to a new or different food have not gone well. lager is happy to eat, just give him anything. sadly, his stomach and intestines are much pickier about what goes through them.

i have brought 2 cans of the new food with me to work so i can scoop out teaspoon sized bits. this will be easily done at work, i would have to lock myself in the bathroom at home. i will put the bits in an ice cube tray and freeze them to take back home.

the idea is that the frozen bits will thaw in his auto feeder and hopefully he doesn’t destroy the feeder to get to the bits.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 6c/42f with no predicted change today, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “People gripe when it’s hot. People gripe when it’s cold. What-the-fuck-ever!”

nellie and BBBoo you both need a big hug, or several, just because.

Wolfie you don’t need an invitation, just show up and plonk yourself down!

Yanker sorry to hear about the kid, that’s a rough deal to get both at once.

JtC nice of you to donate a pair of winter Crocs

Busy irk day today, got a lot to do but getting nowhere fast. I have a big spreadsheet to sort out for the summer exams schedule, my boss was going to do it but she’s stuck with other things so I’m getting it all going for now. It is truly a nasty little beast.

We have a date for our friend’s Celebration of Life so will have to make plans to be up north for that, it will be a sad occasion but also a chance to see some people we haven’t caught up with for a while.

'im indoors is threatening to become 'im outdoors tonight and meet up with a friend of his who has reappeared after an absence of several years. The guy’s a conspiracy-loving anti-vaxx nutjob so 'im indoors is welcome to the experience. I am taking the chance to have the house to myself, cook whatever I want for dinner, and have a nice soaky bath. With such a lovely evening planned, just watch the bar-steward cancel!

Regular ones. We don’t eat a lot of crackers, and those are what’s in the cupboard.

I’m up and about, just finished a lovely breakfast of French toast and thick bacon at my local diner (their signature sandwich is the Wet Judy). This diner is an experience - the F-bombs fly and we’re all one big, dysfunctional family.

Now I’m off to run some errands before the promised snow appears.

You can’t throw this into the mix without further explanation!

I think I’ve figured out the secret to getting Tobias to nap - I don’t give him his bottle till around 11 - by then he’s pretty tired and he’s usually sucking down the last of it in his sleep. Yesterday, he slept for over 90 minutes - hoping for at least the same today!

I’ve got an apple cake in the oven - I haven’t made it in eons and I thought it would be nice after pizza. I was going to do brownies, but I think I like this better. It sure smells good!

And I’ve decided which pizzas to order - going with Domino’s because Little Caesar’s is way too expensive - they no longer do pizza-pizza when you got 2 for one price. And, frankly, I think Domino’s has done a good job making a tasty crust. It’s no longer second to the cardboard box.

Now, just hope the kid sleeps a good bit.

So it was things getting jammed up on the belt, and not enough loaders, in case you were playing Brown Bingo. But I bought 4 cases of beer at Teeter, so it all evens out.

No. Giving information to another department is like giving your hair to a Voodoo priest. And nobody want’s to be Accounts Payable’s zombie.

The good knee, apparently.

The Pandemic has taught me that a significant percentage of my friends are batshit insane. Hope he enjoys.

Works for me, too. :champagne:

Have fun storming the castle!

Yes, we are all gorgeous and we know it, thank you very much! :dog:

After all the dire snow warnings, it turned out to be a nothingburger. Enough snow to get the plows out but nothing like what was predicted. We just don’t get much snow around here any more. The snow forecasts for the next few days remain the same but I doubt that will amount to anything, either. Right now the sun is shining in a clear blue sky.

I am getting sick and tired of being cooped up in my apartment. Next Monday I get to have my brace adjusted and that till allow a little more bending of my knee. I’m still considering what to do for my sister who is so much help.

It’s been said that the only time everyone sees each other is at Weddings and Funerals. Hope 'im indoors isn’t tempted by the Dark Side…

With some trepidation I goggled “Wet Judy” and I think this is it: https://s3-media0.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/NZEZpgJty1-uUmjuXQW1KA/l.jpg Basically, Egg+Hashbrowns+thick cut bacon on what looks like Sourhough bread…not bad.

Rocky, hope the new food helps Lager.

Wolfie, I go with Weather Underground, even if they are a worldwide conglomeration, they seem to hit it close most of the time.

Cupcakes, your Mumper name may be a suggestion on what to do for sister. And hope you out and about soon.

I have been relatively active this morning, bought 3 pairs of Jeans (44x32, yeah!) at Duluth Trading and got about 25% off on sale, and got a fairly cheat 20" duffle bag for carry-on items for the trip, so that was a good morning for me. Also glad I put the trash can out last night, they came early today and that is back in the garage.

Just had a small mid-day snack with Diet Pepsi (I am trying Diet Pepsi early and Pepsi Zero in the evening, right now I think I’m going to go with Zero as my main beverage, but both are acceptable). Now to work up the ambition to get to the gym…need to keep those new pants fitting well…

Take care all.

I just knew that I could count on someone here to ask about this. MetalMouse found it! It’s Italian bread and also has cheese. It comes with over easy (dippy) eggs unless you specify otherwise. You also have your choice of meat (regular bacon, thick-cut bacon, turkey bacon, sweet sausage, hot sausage, ham, burger patty). Some people choose more than one meat - two meats has become unofficially known as an “orgy” and three or more as a “gang bang.” This is a classy place!

The story behind the name is that employees of a nearby business created the sandwich and named it after a co-worker who was – how shall I put it? – very free with her affections.

You may now all clutch your pearls and fall onto your fainting couches!

This diner has been in a number of TV shows and movies (American Rust, Mayor of Kingstown, and a bunch of others that I don’t remember).

Happy Thorsday!

It’s 41 degrees outside, cloudy and rainy.

I tried to work with unemployment again today, I skipped yesterday.
Chat told me I have to go online and reopen the case. Online gave me a bunch of shit.
If I try to use the phone, it hangs up on me.
Maybe it remembers me as the one who told them to fuck off when I thought it was a recorded message and it wasn’t.
Tomorrow, I’ll try calling from a different number.

I haven’t talked to anybody in the family about the estate. I just get more pissed off when I do.
The lawyer won’t talk to me because he represents the Trustee.
And there is some problem with the papers we received to fill out.
We’re just going to fill them out and send them back anyway.
If it fucks things up, oh well, everybody else is fucking up, why not us too.

I sent OAOASO a text saying what he owes. He gave me a bunch back saying his phone should be paid off and he doesn’t owe that much and whatever other bullshit he wanted to spew.
I told him it’s not open to discussion and I don’t want to hear it.
I’m done.

The roofer is coming tomorrow to sign the contract for the work. I’ll be happy when that is done.

My son got a raise, so he is happy.
I think it is a pitiful raise, .60/hour, but it’s something, and I’m not going to say anything that will bring him down.

I’ve had a lazy morning. I fell asleep after getting home from picking up my son. I woke around 10, then fell back asleep until 11, and only got up them because a friend called.

I’m sorry about your knees Nellie Painful knees surely suck, you don’t realize how much you use them until it hurts to use them.

I’m sorry about your eyes, Boo

I’m glad your dentist trip went well Red

Welcome back Ms Owl

Ouchie, Cupcakes
I have area rugs in my house and I have learned the hard way to be careful with them. Even worse is that the dogs have a tendency to run over them and flip up the corners.

Your poor son, Pulley.

I got the news that I have been dreading
and I can barely type it
Ripple does have cancer, Mast cell.
You’d never know anything is wrong with him though
I have a call in with an oncologist in VA, but they haven’t called back.

{{{{{{ for you and ripple }}}}}}\

I’ll be holding you both in the light :candle::candle:

Well, damn, sari. I was really hoping against hope it was benign. I understand mast cell tumors are very treatable, though, so my fingers remain crossed for your exuberant little guy.

My knee is MUCH better today. I even ran a block with no ill effects. I think the problem was that I was favoring the outside of the knee. I recognize that I’m getting older, but I know that if I chalk up stuff to old age, I’m one step closer to giving up activities that are good for me.There was an older guy (late 70’s) who owned most of the mountain I used to hike up and lived in a house 4 miles up. He used to walk down and up the mountain every day, throwing rocks down the sides as he went. . That’s how I want to be.

I walked 4 miles and did 5 on the treadmill, so I’m falmost back to where I was before the October surgery.

HOORAY! Well done, sir!

Do they taste the same? I’m not a cola drinker, so I don’t know if caffeine affects taste.

OWL, the sandwich sounds wonderful, and so does the diner. Has it been on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives? Also, I wonder if Judy knows a sandwich was named after her. I guess the name counter-balances Spotted Dick.

FCM, the cake sounds yum!

Aw, poor ripple. I hope there is an easy fix.

Oh no! Skritches and gentle hugs to Ripple.

Oh no! I’ll add my prayers that this will be easily and painlessly resolved.
