The Holidays Are Over and Life Can Get Back to Normal MMP

I thought more highly of you than that, missred. :dubious:

Well done, my friend!!

We’re back from breakfast and Lowe’s, and there are now 40 rolls of attic insulation in the shop awaiting installation. Since we bought more than 20 rolls, we got 30% off, so we saved over $350!! Huzzah! Daughter and SIL will insulate the attic next weekend.

Daughter just left to take Roxy to her grandmother’s for the day. I’m thinking today will include much chillage. The sun is shining, and it’s a bright, if cold, day. Amazing what a few rays of sun can do for one’s mood.

So, onward!

Happy Sunday!

Glad they figured out the pacemaker for your aunt’s mom shady.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, puppy crate cleaned (and said pupper walked), bed stripped, a load of towels and sheets in the wash and ready to do KP. Once that is done, I’ll purtify and head to White House to see about a table and chairs.

There’s a loud sound over Raleigh right now.:dubious:
[Tinfoli Hat]THE GUBERRMEMT IS PUTTIN’ OUT CHEMTRAILS![/Tinfoil Hat]

The sun keep trying to peek out but the temp is slowly falling. Who knew that the 36 degrees this morning was going to be the warmest part of the day?
I’m glad I don’t have to go back out.

I got my mother’s bd present ordered, but still looking at cat trees/scratching posts.

Last load of laundry is on the drying rack. I could do another load, but I don’t need to and so I probably won’t.

Making soup for tonight. Add cornbread and you have a meal.
The goofy Siamese cats are completely freaked-out about the aroma emitting from the offensive soup pot!
The little brats.

Tomorrow is trash & recycling day, so I thought I’d shovel a path to the street. I ended up shovelling all of the snow off of the driveway, and part of the street. Things kind of got out of hand. Anyway, the rain won’t have to melt through the snow, and the dark surface will help keep things clear.

No sign of hummingbirds the past three days. :frowning:

Father In Law (v.1.0) sent his son into the attic of the house they built with insulation sometime ago. Five years later, FIL (1.0) had occasion to visit the attic where he found three rolls of insulation and a cigarette butt.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got back to da cave, made and et sammiches, and accomplished nappage. All in all not a bad day. I have a pot o’ beef/veggie soup simmerin’ away cause ‘tis coolish and well, soup. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. Tomorrow is a holiday, so the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can shall be hauled down for pickup on Tuesday instead of the regular Moanday pickup.

Thus is life in swampland.

(and swampy): GMTA - I just cut up some leftover london broil and threw it into a pot of beef broth with veggies and some seasonings. I was going to do biscuits, but I like the idea of cornbread better!

**flytrap **- about 40 years ago, I helped my dad insulate their attic. Apart from being all bent over, I remember the itchiness! SIL is young and strong - he can deal!

It’s been a lazy afternoon of TV and afghaning. Quite satisfying!

No snow here, but we did get the first proper frost that didn’t fully melt all day today. Been far too mild 'til now, so I’m not sorry- if it’s too mild, we got loads of plant pests that overwinter.

Today’s major excitement was going to check on and give some extra food to the beeses. First time I’ve been down there for a few months; nice to know they’re not dead. A surprising number were out, it being sunny, though I bet with the mild weather they’ll be running low on stores 'cos there’s nothing much flowering, so they’ll just be using up energy flying round. I managed to panic myself by accidentally putting the suit on over a bee which had landed in my hair (didn’t expect 'em to be flying, so I was really close before putting the veil on). Fortunately, it was just being nosy, not aggressive, so I didn’t get stung; being stung in the head ain’t fun.

A nicer surprise was that the neighbours little street stall had duck 'n chuck aigs for sale, so I got a box of each. Very unseasonal. After buying from there all last summer, the supermarket aigs just looked and tasted sad, and I’ve been avoiding buying 'em. Thought I’d have to wait at least another month until I could get Proper Aigs again.

My goofy Siamese is annoyed by delivery drivers. She’s endured hearing the doorbell twice in 24 hours (groceries from different stores), and I’ve already warned her she will have to tolerate another delivery (The Jungle will be bringing a new toaster, since the current one has had it).

She does not approve of human food in general. Her usual reaction if it’s held out to her is to sniff, then do this remarkable “EEEWWW!!! You eat that???” face. Trust me, Princess, I feel the same way about your canned gunk.

Cold/overcast/gloomy here. I do have some chocolate chip cookies in the oven, courtesy of pre-fab dough (wasn’t feeling ambitious enough for scratch), and will be doing tater-tot casserole later (we LIKE the stuff!).

welp, relatives should be arriving to see great aunt down in OC so it’s fairly quiet here

weather the post Xmas thaw we usually get didn’t really happen and with the rain we got Wednesday its cold for here but as nuts mentioned above we need a few freezing days so some of the damn bugs will get killed off … we’ve been infested the past half-decade or so… A lot of it is people from other places bringing critters unknowingly and well bugs thrive in the desert mostly

Funny — so do the Peace Brigades International and War Resisters League.
Laundry has been done and some other puttering but mostly getting ready for the work week; thinking about lunches and stuff like that. Will start on the state paperwork from yesterdays meeting ------ some other time. Right now I am more interested in relaxing and maybe watching some football.

Even call center workers can get a little stabby-minded when someone foolishly uses the Q-word.

As usual, I made good soup! I also decided to bake a blueberry crisp, and I’m about to give it a try. It smells yum!

What can I say? I like living on the edge

And KC is Miami bound!

Evening all. The neighbors sent three kids and one parent and they got the job done in about 90 minutes, even if I did run out of boxes (had 30 boxes, thought that would be enough, ended up having to buy 12 more at Walmart and still needed a couple of my laundry baskets to finish up. Might be I have a few too many books…). But they moved the bookcases and one china cabinet I want to keep to the garage and helped on the rolltop desk (got it 90% done), so they were worth the gas money. Fence repair is tomorrow.

Sounds like everybody had a pretty good Sunday, so assorted hugs, grins, and attaboy/girl all around.

Catch you on the next MMP.

The Titans lost. :frowning: (I’m sure baker is celebrating) And the Packers aren’t looking too hot right now.

I didn’t go to White House (the table and chairs had sold), but did make a quick trip to the local Ashley furniture store. The only set that fit the bill was not in stock (the story of this search). There are two stores here in town that were closed today that I will check out this week some time. If they don’t pan out, I’m going to Wayfair or da Jungle.

Supper is in the oven / on the stove. Tonight is French onion stuffed (carmelized onion w/ a couple of tablespoons of beef stock and gruyere cheese) poke loin, garlic buttered carrots (the carrot peels backed up the garbage disposal, so the maintenance guy came over to clean it out) and butter fried cabbage. It’s beginning to smell good.

Johnny LA, whence this snow??? And it stuck? Ours from the other day melted pretty fast, and we’ve had none (that stuck, anyway) since.

I’m thinking of everyone with sick or lost loved ones.

I talked to my son. He and his wife both have crummy colds and are depressed over having to put Angel Dog down on Monday. Also, one their other two old dogs seem upset about the loss or the change in routine or something–restless and waking up son and wife at night. I guess everybody’s grieving.

I cleaned out the freezer. I have Raynaud’s, so I have to wear gloves to do it, then take them off to clean out whatever containers I’ve removed. Trying to decide which I hate more, cleaning out freezer or fridge.
