The Holidays Are Over and Life Can Get Back to Normal MMP

I saw a hummingbird. Unfortunately, the feeder was frozen. It’s inside now.

It occurred to me that we’ll never know if my lamp solution to keep the hummingbirds from freezing will work. We’ll only know if it didn’t. (And then only if we find a frozen hummingbird near it.)

I threw some birdseed out in the snow for the cheepie birds, and put some in a pie in just insude the catio. The cat’s are not interested in going out in the cold.

The propane company has put us on today’s delivery list. I brushed snow off of the vehicles. I started the Jeep and the Prius, and shovelled the walk in front of the door and put some rock salt down. I know I can use the Jeep if I need to go out. I don’t know if the Prius is movable.

How on earth are Tootsie Rolls considered candy? I just had 2 minis and they are horrible

How is chocolate flavored wax *not *considered candy?? Tootsie Rolls are only candy if there is absolutely nothing else available, including them nasty circus peanuts!

Roxy slept just over 2 anna half hours. Her mama will be here in about an hour, then I can head to the main credit union office. I checked the balance of my 401k and I’ve got the phone number so Dave can contact them and transfer my funds. I should probably look up the account number too…

One of your hummingbird does cheep. I can’t Google which one at the moment.

I would die of starvation before I ate circus peanuts. Many years ago the person I was road tripping with was going through a CP phase. Many bags consumed in my car. I’m surprised I didn’t puke from the smell. Once she went through a Krispy Kreme phase and that was much more tolerable.

I’m so happy for you and hubby, Butters.

It’s not been a nice day at all,
I needed to send in my estimated taxes, no printer to print out the form, couldn’t find an envelope - so the IRS is getting a nice card with a heart on the front, wrote everything out by hand. Dropped off the clothes at GoodWill, went to the wrong door, then had to drive around the block because of one way streets, no parking in the loading zone. Left there and the street heading for the PO and grocery store was blocked - fortunately cleared up so I didn’t have to detour. Got to the grocery store, they didn’t have my order. The damn website sent my order to the other store - pisses me off because it always wants to send me there, it’s like .2 miles closer but it is harder to get to, and the neighborhood is a bit sketchier. I KNOW I changed to store, because I do it every time, because even though I click the box to say to keep store2 as my store, the damn website sends me to store1 every time. Traffic was horrible getting there, delivery trucks all over the place, asshole people who shouldn’t even be driving, drunk/stoned/stupid people stepping off the curb into traffic. Messed up my order too… well didn’t really mess it up, just did things a little differently. I ordered ten 1 pound packs of ground beef, and they gave me one 10 pound pack of ground beef. Same price, and now I have to divide it up into ten 1 pound packs.

I ordered my son’s books. I’m a little worried because I got one of them from da jungle for $55 but it is $285 from the school bookstore. The ISBN numbers are the same, the covers look the same, same edition, comes with the access code - so why so much cheaper? One of his other books was $14 cheaper from da jungle, and the last one is about $30 cheaper but not in stock at da jungle. Then the bookstore charges $14 for shipping, which I don’t understand because I thought the PO charges a flat $5 fee for books? Fourth class seems to have no book, which is cool with me.

When I went to make a payment on my hospital bill I got a message that I had to talk with a repesentative. Had me worried but it seems my bill is for 4 separate accounts and since the first on got paid off I need to use the number for the second account. Only the second and third accounts had rather small balances, to I paid a triple payment, paid off the second and third accounts and dipped my baby toe into the fourth account.

I got my washer fluid filled, I could have done it myself but I got my son to help me. My new phones are hooked up, I got one with 4 handsets. I can put two of them upstairs so I can irk from up there without having to carry the handset around with me.

All small things but at least they are off the list.
All the bills have been paid. I still have a whole mess of phone calls I need to make and I just keep putting them off.

There is also the mystery of how a keyfob from a car dealership by my mother’s ended up in my shoe.

My great grandfather lived on circus peanuts and rc cola. He always had some for us when we came to visit.
I hate both of them, just the thought makes me feel sick.

Yep, they do.

But I was talking about the juncos.

Fresh circus peanuts are nasty; stale they become divine!

Going through about 3 hankies a day. If this keeps up screw the environment ---- I’m opening the Kleenex!

Butters, I’m happy your hubby is home, but I know it’s not all roses. Since his health has been so precarious, I’m sure you’re uneasy. I hope he improves steadily.

Sari, the markup at college bookstores is unbelievable. Most college kids get their books either buy from cheaper sources online or rent them.

It has been blissfully quiet after 10 PM after I went to the complex manager the other day. She sent the guys upstairs a text reminding them of quiet hours and listing the stuff that’s forbidden then, which is basically a list of all the stuff they were doing between 1 and 3 a.m. It’s so great getting to sleep through the night!

It’s snowing but not hard. I have to talk myself into walking to the gym. When did I get to be such a wuss? :frowning:

Did laundry, walked Gordie. he had words with the crew cleaning the apartment across the hall(It takes him about 2 years to figure out that the neighbors changed, before he stops barking at the new folk, and tries to protect them from The Invisible Mole People. Protective, but about as sharp as a sack full of wet mice. :D;)). I’ve never had a circus peanut. I do have a Tootsie Roll Pop frequently, as it is part of my section’s 2nd Period ritual at hockey games.

The hummingbird?:dubious:

Yay for Hubby being home, Butters!

Yay for your hubby being home butters!

wet one, I stopped considering tootsie rolls candy after getting enough of a raise in allowance to graduate from the penny shelf at Bickel’s Grocery to the nickel shelf. :stuck_out_tongue:

Felling a lot better, though not yet 100%. Irk was better today and I had my quarterly review (I think it went well). Tonight, it’s just Nelson and me, the studio project and TV. Yay!

So tell me Doggio, how is it that you have managed to get this far in life without ever experiencing the culinary delight known as a circus peanut?

You know, I think my son has never experienced a circus peanut.
I have been remiss.

Haven’t eaten a Tootsie roll in 10 years or a circus peanut in 30, but I agree that both barely meet the minimum standards for edibles, much less candy.

Only one contractor showed today, the other never showed/never called and the guy today was 50% lower than the other contractor, so he got the job (just e-mailed him the signed contract). Also did much for getting the house ready for the Great Repainting/Reflooring. Rewarded myself by letting the Burger King handle dinner. Still raining a bit, but mid 60’s outside.

Butters, hope husband-unit has taken this warning to heart (so to speak) and will take better care of himself in the future. Being home often helps with the healing process. Best wishes to him and you.

Sari, like nellie says, college bookstores charge like movie theaters do for popcorn…way beyond the bounds of rationality. Good on ya for finding cheaper sources. But damn, I’m tried just reading your list of stuff to do.

ruble, hope the nose stops being politician-like (always running).

flyboy, you might not know if you’re doing any good, but at least you’re trying…and that’s a win in my book.

All y’all take care now.

Had a good chat with our money guy - I need to email some stuff to him, then we can move my 401k funds. Then **FCD **and I went to Red Robin for soup and salad. He had the soup, I had the salad. and some sweet N.O.T. fries because I lurves them.

Now, we’re home in chillage mode.

Many people say I’m very trying!

We lost power for a couple of hours. I was just about to get in the shower. I got a battery-operated lantern and showered anyway. If I’m going to freeze to death, I’m going as a clean ice cube. Then I fixed a tuna sandwich for dinner and huddled in bed until the power came back on. Thank you, utility workers! I am so grateful for heat and lights! But then I realize how many homeless people out there have neither and am ashamed of my spoiled self.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 74 and cloudy for the day. Not anything planned for the day which is fine by me. We might or might not go grab a burger and a beer from the place down the road. Sup shall be country fried steak ‘n gravy, squishes, green beans, smashed N.O.T., and cornbread cause I desire some down home foods and so shall cook said foods. Tomorrow I head out for Honey Creek for church development thingy. Thus OYKW will be unsupervised until Sattidy evenin’. How ever will he survive!

Butters yay for hubs bein’ home. Hopin’ he’s feelin’ better soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Had a mostly sleep-filled night - huzzah! I still woke early, but I amused myself with my tablet till I decided to get up. Daughter has left for work and I’ll need to get Roxy up soon. SIL is off today and he and Roxy are getting their flu shots - FINALLY!! Anyway, I need to get her fed before they leave.

My day will be back to work - **FCD needs me to do some drafting for him. I also need to start rounding up stuff for the accountant for taxes. And I should probably sort thru the papers on my desk again. Why do I let that stuff accumulate??? <headdesk>

Today marks the end of our mild weather, if forecasters are to be believed. We might even see snow on Sat. Sub-freezing nights are predicted for the next couple of weeks. So winter returns. Just in time for my mom and my sister to head to the Caribbean.

I had an email from my mom this morning wishing me an early happy b-day, since they’ll be gone, and telling me she’s no longer sending cards (with checks) except to the little ones. Frankly, it’s cracked me up that she’s continued to send me $50 every year for the last 40+ years. In my 20s, it was a boon. In more recent years, tho, it’s seemed a bit silly - like she feels obligated. Anyway, I’m glad she’s stopping.

Speaking of social security - I just re-read the letter - my payments don’t start till next month - I forgot they pay a month in arrears. Dammit. Thankfully, we have savings.

Happy Thursday!!

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. it rained overnight. It’s warm now, but it’s supposed to stated getting cold this afternoon. Goodbye Fool’s Spring, hello Winter.

Pure blind luck.

The government is always looking to get you in the arrears.
