The Holidays Are Over and Life Can Get Back to Normal MMP

Glad Mr. Butters is doing better. DH seems to have slid back a bit of progress. :frowning:

The callers weren’t too godawful today, but I was ready to go off on the guy sitting next to me. I would find his phone manner off-putting at best if I were his caller, but that’s a sup’s worry. My issues involve yelling conversations OVER MY HEAD halfway down the row while I am trying to hear a caller (I should not have had to point out volume issues to a 30yo several times in one day) and SINGING when he’s between calls, regardless of whether I am. If he doesn’t dial it down, a chat with our sup will be in order. That’s just disruptive and IMO inappropriate to a call center.

Add me to the line for Key Lime Pie. LOVE that stuff!

Got a nice whiteboard magnet for the fridge. DH complains he has a hard time knowing what’s in there (it’s kinda small, so a bit crowded). Hoping a list on the door will help encourage snacking, since he is still underweight (still hasn’t hit 140 since his accident, and he’s 5’9").

Jack-in-the-Box has their fish sandwiches back!

Weather wasn’t the greatest, but copeable. I am getting heartily sick of the jerks (usually in taller vehicles) with the ultra-bright headlights blowing up my mirrors and screwing up my vision to the point that it’s a safety problem.

Mundane and pointless enough?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 53 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 62 and N.O.S. Where I am headed today ‘tis 56 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 59 and mostly N.O.S. for the day with a small craft advisory in effect, not that I plan to be out on the water today. We shall take off around seven-thirtyish and should be there by around eleven this mornin’. N.O.L. shall be served and then we get down to bidness. One of the plusses of this is the food is really, really, really good! OYKW shall be sans adult supervision. However will he survive!

Nettie Jack In The Box is jumpin’ the gun on Lent. Also, irk neighbor needs to be poked with a pointy stick and explained the meanin’ of inside voice.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas, alack, and bother I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Woke at 4… why why why???

I need to get some breakfast snacks for FCD’s meeting, And a pot of coffee. Then I have to try to keep Roxy up for a late nap, since Daughter is taking her to visit friends later. I foresee a busy day.

Happy Firday!!!

Happy Firday!

It’s a dark and brisk 27, feels like 16, degrees outside this morning, but the sun should be shining later, with a high of 34 predicted.
We had snow last night, but as far as I can tell the roads are clear so going to the park is still on the agenda.
Truth be told, I’d rather not go out today.
I’m feeling rather wussie about the cold.
These damn dogs are spoiled rotten, and I have nobody to blame but myself.
One good thing about carrying water to the park is that I carry hot water. I put the containers in a tote with my hats and gloves. My hats and gloves are always toasty warm when I pull them out.
Some of the dogs don’t like hot/warm water, but it won’t stay that way for long today and it will help melt whatever ice is in the bowls.

I got an email from the breeder yesterday, she has one male puppy left. Very tempting, but no no NO… no more dogs. Only two per person are allowed at the park, and at the Pooch Plunge, and my son would kill me.

My son was saying the other day how much Ripple has slowed down and isn’t as playful as he used to be. I said yeah, most dogs slow down around the age of two and that Echo, who is way more hyper and playful than Ripple ever was, will slow down around that time too. It was on the tip of my tongue to say, *and that is when we’ll get another puppy! *, but I thought better of it and kept my mouth shut.
We’ll let it be a surprise!
Maybe… because I don’t need more than two dogs.

I’ve never had key lime pie, but it sounds good.
I’ve been wanting a margarita but my son won’t go to lunch with me. I’m hoping to see the guy next door who gave me the cookies. I’ll invite him to lunch.

I’m glad your hubby is home and hope he is feeling more like himself soon Butters.

Hope your husband gets back into the swing of things too Nettie.

Got a text, people are going to the park so I need to get ready.

We’re all N.O.N. you know that right?

I don’t know why I bothered with coffee - half the people who showed up for the meeting brought their own. Oh well, it’s not like I made a special trip to buy it - I keep a bag of coffee in the freezer for guests who like it - like my inlaws.

Meanwhile, I’ve tidied the kitchen and fed Roxy. She’s watching Sesame Street. In a little bit, I’ll try to do something with her to help tire her out. If it doesn’t tire me first… toddlers are exhausting!!! My other plans include a load of laundry and the search for all the tax documents our accountant will need to do our taxes. Great fun there.

Next weekend, daughter and SIL are going to insulate the shop attic. I wish we’d thought to have them do it ages ago! It was 48° in the shop this morning, despite the heaters being on all night. **FCD **should have listened to me and bought the kerosene heater. But he didn’t…

Home from the park and thawing out. It would have been okay if not for the wind. It’s colder now than it was when we left for the park.

Going to try to complete my list today. Didn’t get much done yesterday.
I think it is supposed to rain/snow again tonight/tomorrow morning.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. It’s cold outside. And inside, since I didn’t turn the heat on before I went to bed last night.

You’re the fifth person to say that.

Yeah, you’d be dinghy to do that.

Morning all. No rain today in N. Ali-bama, it’s holding off for the weekend. Only getting to 51F today so the Furnace will get some work to do. Need to call the places to confirm they are coming to make pickups when they promised and do laundry. Booked a hotel for the 20th/21st since by then all bedding should be gone (the new bedroom delivers on the 22nd).

FCM, 48F! what does FCD work in, a parka and mittens? Hope he takes your advice on the heater (and thinks about what summer months will be like in the place).

Sari, my brother had 3 bassets at one time (sadly one passed this year and the other two are getting up there), so it can be done–maybe son will come around, you have a year or two to work on him…

Nettie, cow-orker needs to be taught some manners he should have learned from his parents, I doubt you’re the only one irritated by his conduct there.

Safe travels and a not-to-boring meeting, swampy.

OK, need to feed myself and make some calls. All y’all take care.

:dubious: Let’s see you say that at reassembly time.

ISWYDT.

Who are the other four? Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker, & Captain Morgan?

His office is quite comfy - it’s a smaller space and easy to heat. In fact, I think it’s a tad too warm. But the shop is about 1200 sq ft with a 10’ ceiling full of metal machines that store cold. He doesn’t have any manufacturing to do for the time being, so it’s not really an issue.

Pretty much what came from the meeting is that he’s got nothing to do till after a teleconference next week. For the moment, he’s crashed in front of TV. Not sure if we’ll do anything once Daughter gets home and takes the baby. We may just veg.

Our receptionist is retiring after about 30 years, so we’re having a going-away party today. I usually come into the office on Thursdays, but I telecommuted yesterday and came down today. We had a little more snow overnight, but the windshield cover did its job. As poor as the Prius is for driving in snow, I was able to back out onto the unplowed road and make my way a couple of miles to a cleared road. Traffic was not bad, and I got into the office almost 20 minutes early.

Still suffering the aftereffects of the cold. Thick snot, occasional cough. I have some nasal spray and some Day-Quil. Stomach’s still a little sore from coughing. I tend to get hungry, but don’t feel like eating. I’ll try not to get anyone sick at the party (I don’t think I’m contagious at this point), and I’ll see what there is to eat. The party’s at The Spaghetti Factory, which is not ideal since I’m avoiding carbs. I’m sure there will be salad available.

Da Jungle has been ------ odd? ------- about that whole subject. The places that have security screening for us it is only on the way OUT of the building. The old joke was you could bring a nuclear device in but don’t try to leave with a stick of gum. And considering I’ve never been at one of the really bad places and I’ve still seen people literally break down in tears … But I don’t think we’ve ever had an event so who knows? Maybe it was the time to add it.

Someone got an open fifth? Pass it over this way!
Other than that getting ready for tomorrows meeting and the annual snow that always happens meeting day. :smack:

Are they any good? I’ve noticed McDs advertising their fish sammies 2 for $5 lately, but the last time I partook I was unimpressed.

I feel ya. The local shelter has, or had, a sweet little Westie the other day and I was sorely tempted, But as much as I love our two boys, some days they just wear me out. Three might kill me.

We got a little bit of snow overnight, maybe a half inch. Pshaw!

Hope various Hubbies get to feeling better straight away. Happy Firday!

I’m scared to go outside, the whole world seems to be encased in ice. Thank goodness I have food at home.

Love snow, hate ice. Never saw any use for it outside the odd mixed drink or two.

McD’s Filet-O-Fish sandwiches are the best! Like Jack In The Box tacos.

Rustless Rat, thanks for the update. Sounds great. Professional kitchen and bathroom. Your priorities are in line. If I get close to Saturn V, I would like a tour.

The plumber is here as I type. I am excited about the new toilet. And no one has commented about it. As the new kid here, I have to ask is the subject of toilets taboo in the MMP?

Quiet around here; almost too quiet.

Still icy outside, but I did get the dog walked. And I have a wonderful pot of vegetalbe soup simmering away.

Two days ago I picked up a veggie tray at the gorcoery store. It had been marked down, although it still looked fine. I chopped all that up, added some frozen corn and one chopped potato, a few instant potato flakes for slight thickening, and a few chicken bouillon cubes. For not more than seven dollars I have a BIG pot of soup to chow on for the next few days.

FCM, don’t worry about the coffee, it’s never wasted!
