Noooo. It’s not taboo at all! I’m dealing with a toilet tank that seems to be a bit loose, and it’s wanting to leak a little. My husband won’t be back home for another week. He’ll deal with fixing it, then. It’s not too leaky. Yet, anyway. We’ll see how quickly the leaking progresses.
We get much more excited about TP, or the lack thereof.
I was listening to one of Marie Kondo’s books and she was talking about some clients of hers. One man had 600 toothbrushes stored under the sink. Totally crazy right. Another woman had 220 rolls of plastic wrap, Marie figured out it would take the woman something like 90 years to use all that plastic wrap. I agree that 220 rolls of plastic wrap is excessive.
Then she mentioned the client that had 80 rolls of TP. My first thought was, what is wrong with that? That’s only 40 rolls per bathroom, not excessive at all.
When Friend1 got a new toilet I sent her a Toilet Warming Gift.
I wanted to get her a toilet paper tree

but since her bathroom is tiny I got her a poodle

instead.
Moon Unit - I don’t know if any subject is taboo in the MMP. Some TMI is less than desirable, but still not taboo. Speaking for myself there - some folks seem to enjoy the TMI, but the classless shall remain nameless.
We dined at Texas Roadhouse, and I overate, ergo, I’s stuffded! I do like their salmon, tho. We’re now in for the night. I’m hoping for a better sleep than last night, but we shall see…
nettie, when I made the transition from a pickup to a compact car, I noticed the BRIGHT headlights on the massive SUVs too. They bother me when it’s rainy.
ruble, wait for metal detectors going out now that you’ve had active shooter training. My irkplace is a bit like da Jungle in that regard (our brass gets together with the brass with some of the other distribution centers regularly and they tend to have the same rules for security). Be forewarned.
Irked until 1:30, shopped for groceries, came home, walked the dog and ate the supper that Captain D fixed. Tomorrow, I’m headed to London, KY for a memorial service. That’s about four hours up the road, so I’ve arranged for the neighbor who works at the doggy daycare to come over to walk Nelson. He likes her and she enjoys playing with him.
Evening all. Moonunit, toilets are up for discussion always, just sometimes things get lost in the passing discussion (just like real life). My next home improvement (once the budget recovers after this), is a bidet-type toilet for the master bathroom. And a tour of the N. Ali-bama area can either include the Saturn V site or the Jack Daniels distillery (I know what Spidey, ruble, and doggio would choose, but you may be more refined…).
Spidey, I wont be the one putting the table back together; it’s new owner (whoever that may be) gets the pleasure.
Cupcakes, the soup sounds Yum! And glad you and the ice didn’t have a close encounter of the oowie kind…
It looks like the next few days will be interesting at Casa Rat. Saturday the Downtown Rescue Mission is coming to grab as much furniture as they can use. Sunday my neighbor’s kids and friends will help me pack up the books and move the bookcases to the garage. Moanday I’m getting the fence repaired, Tuesday the "Chunk N Junk folks will get the rest of my stuff, and Wednesday the painters arrive along with my Bedroom furniture…so the next five days will be interesting. May not be online much, the computer desk needs to get out of the house too, but the library wireless works fine so I’ll try to keep my fellow MMP’ers updated.
All y’a ll take care now.
I am so grateful my joints were good today. I had a great workout at the gym: an hour’s weight training and an hour on the treadmill (13 degree incline). Like the masochists say, it feels so good when it stops.
Rubles, was the video on ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training? When I was teaching, we had to watch an ALICE video made for corporate America.
For those who don’t check other threads, VOW’s husband had a heart attack. Please see her thread.
IMO JitB does much better than McD’s on the fish sandwich. Of course, this can depend on location. I had two yesterday, at different locations about 10-15 miles apart in the same urban area. The one I got for lunch was a lot better than the one I had for dinner, closer to home.
Pretty sure about the only major taboos around here would apply across the board, such as not flaming other MMPers, posting graphic pictures, etc. Not that I’m a mod or anything. ![]()
My mother-in-law just passed away. We’re done with the police and the funeral home initial arrangements. Not sure yet what tomorrow will bring.
Happy Saturday!
It’s a snowy, cloudy, 27, feels like16, degrees outside. Getting ready for the park.
I suppose everybody else is going since I haven’t gotten any text messages saying otherwise.
The dogs will be happy, me… glad I have toe warmers.
Hubby is back in the hospital. I am in Miami. I have a room rented at the Homestead Air Force Base. It’s about a third the cost of one right around the hospital. It is 29 miles away but those are the race track miles so not long. Hubby is still being affected by the poison (to him) given him 10 days ago. It has attacked his lungs in addition to his liver, kidneys etc. it takes a long time to clear. We are not out of the woods yet by a long shot. Still need those prayers and good healing vibes.
Hubs son Tommy is on his way down from middle Jawja. He is a fire chief up near Atlanta and is used to working 24-48 hour shifts. When he gets here later today I will go check into the room and sleep a while. I have had 4 hours in the last 2.5 days. Then tomorrow he can go rest for 8 hours then I am going home (3 hours ride) and getting a full night then dropping Buddy at the Vet for boarding. Then I won’t need to go back to the Keys for a while.
OK, Mumpers, enough of the bad stuff! I demand you return to happy news and sunshine.
{{{Butters & MrB}}} - Glad Tommy will be there to give you a little break. Healing thoughts headed southward!!
{{{Sunny & Family}}} - So sorry for your loss.
{{{VOW & sweetie}}} - healing thoughts coming to your sweetie, too!
Seriously, folks, enough is enough! Everybody stay safe and healthy out there!!
Woke to a dusting of snow. When I checked a weather site last night, it said we wouldn’t get any precip till late this afternoon. It appears they were incorrect. Fortunately, we don’t have to go anywhere today, and the county did treat the roads yesterday, just in case we must venture forth. SIL doesn’t work till tonight, when it’s supposed to be raiiny and freezey… dammit.
My fun day involves laundry and cleaning the critter fountain, and I’ll probably push the vacuum cleaner around a bit. I’ll also have to venture out to the office to print some stuff. But mostly, I’m hoping to veg.
Happy Saturday!!
Good grief, so much in one evening…
Butters and Hubby, nothing but positive waves and hope going your way. Glad you’re getting some relief. Hope the recovery is smooth.
Vow and Husband/Daughter. Best thoughts your way, hope the recovery remains smooth, sounds like this has been coming for awhile.
Sunny, I’m sorry for your families loss. Condolences and best wishes.
Got up and disassembled my bed in preparation for the donated furniture exodus today (if they don’t want any of it, I will be most disappointed). Moved the car out to the street so they can also rummage through the garage if they can use anything there. Soccer is from 2-5pm today so I hope they can finish by then.
Rain is in the area but not to severe, looks like ruble may be catching some precipitation today. Temp is supposed to get to 57F today, but freezing temperatures are expected early next week.
All y’all take care now.
{{{Butters}}}
I left the park early, I am frozen.
Going to eat some breakfast and then log in to irk.
I need to get some laundry done.
Making hamburgers for dinner, and if any ground beef is left over, a meat loaf for tomorrow.
Don’t irk too hard MetalMouse, sounds like a lot of stuff going on.
Sahirrnee, I never asked, what kind of dogs do you have? That would like going out in cold weather? Huskies?
My Mauser is smooth coated and neither of us like walking early in the morning before I go to work.
Shar Pei
Ripple doesn’t like to stay out long in the cold. Echo loves being outside.
Tried to post a pic but photobucket seems to be wonky today.
Just ordered the attic insulation for the shop. We’ll pick it up tomorrow - 40 rolls. Daughter and SIL will install it next week. With luck, it’ll make the shop less of a meat locker.
We had some sleet earlier, but it seems to have stopped for now. Still, weather promises to be nasty most of the day.
I’ve cleaned the critter fountain, and I’m about to haul laundry downstairs. Hard to get motivated, tho. Probably because it’s so dreary out there.
{{{Butters}}} I hope your hubby recovers smoothly from this point forward.
{{{VOW}}} Best wishes to you too.
We stayed up pretty late last night. My husband got up early and has been notifying everyone. I slept in longer than I intended. I don’t know yet what the day will bring (beyond coffee).
Good grief, no! I could go on for minutes about toilets! I likes 'em tall and elongated.
TMI WARNING! I need to do something about the toilet in the little house. The water in the bowl is too high and when I sit on it my dangly bits get wet. I’ve messed with the innerds to no avail and may just have to replace it, but Wifey wants me to put new vinyl flooring down when I do that, so it hasn’t happened yet. ![]()
[/TMI]
Put me down for the distillery, if I ever get back that way.
I hear ya about location. Like I said, our McD’s is uninspiring and our local Jack inna box runs over their tacos with a floor buffer before handing them out the window. Of course, after those craptacular tacos I got from Taco Hell the other day, I may have to give JITB another try. (Or go back to making our own. )
I’m so sorry, Sunny
That sucks. My thoughts are with you.
Photobucket has been wonky for years.
I’m happy to report that I’m feeling better. We were afraid they were going to cancel my surgery next Wednesday, but looks like it’s a go after all. I just want to get it over with.
Holy Catastrophes, Batman! I’m so sorry so many are going through such crises.
Butters: daay-um, it’s like the scary roller coaster ride that won’t end. I’m glad you’ll be getting some sleep. I don’t know how you’ve managed on so little for this long. Sending good thoughts.
**
VOW**, I hope Mr. VOW makes smooth and steady progress. I think a shocker like a heart attack must seem unreal to him now. (Heart attack? Me?!) It’ll take time to sink in, I’ll bet. Sending you good thoughts, too, for rest, stable health, and a smooth and swift recovery.
Sunny: I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m thinking of you and your family.
