Canes win, short handed and busy at work.
Sweet
Cheers and good night, have to get up early to make the loud for a Disney Boy Band but I have Queens of the Stone Age on Sunday
Jim
Why am I up at 1:30 AM?
About five seconds after we went to bed and turned out the lights, the burglar alarm starts shrieking. No sounds of apparent burglary, so we go around and check doors. All are locked. Look at panel - no alarm event was captured.
and no call from the alarm company. We reset it, and go back to bed. Five seconds later, the thing starts chirping a trouble alert. We call the alarm people since they weren’t calling us. She asks when’s the last time the battery was replaced. Beats me - we’ve been here for two years, and it was there when we moved in.
For $105 plus parts, they could have someone here later today to swap the battery. I ask, and no, that does not include changing the batteries on the various sensors around the house - they’d be extra. Screw that. For thirty bucks at Amazon, I’ve got new batteries for everything on order, to arrive on Tuesday.
I thought it was just smoke alarms that would start beeping in the middle of the night with a dying battery. Apparently burglar alarms wait until the last moment and freak out completely.
Meanwhile, I have 65 pounds of panicking dog. We’re polar opposites as I took a pain cocktail before going to bed. I’m about to the point that I will be unable to notice her shaking, but she’s gradually getting better.
Will the production you’re playing for use the original words, or an updated set of words for the “list” song?
A while back I went to a production here in Topeka, Kansas that used an updated list and had Koko ranting about folks who text while driving, or talk on their cellphones. But what actually brought some people to their feet, with clapping and cheering, were these lines aimed at the Westboro Baptist Church(I’m ashamed to say they live in Topeka)
“and those that walk Topeka streets with signs that hate insist,
I’ve got them on my list,
They never will be missed…”
Up, caffeinated, and off to work. More tailgating today.
I didn’t get to sleep till after midnight. I was up before 5 - thanks, Higgs. I’m letting my sweetie sleep another hour, but we’ve got to leave around 7. We’re going to my mom’s first and dropping the dog there, then on to the show. I wasn’t too keen on leaving the dog home alone for 10 hours or more unable to go out…
I’ve made good use of my time at least. I’ve got a load in the dishwasher, and all critters have been fed. I’ll get the cat box later after I’m dressed - I don’t want to be standing next to it in bare feet - ick!
**Jim **- I think I was kidding about tossing scanties at the band. I’m pretty sure I was…
Methinks this is gonna be a long day. I see a BIG cup of caffeination to get us on our way. Happy Saturday anyway!
Moooooom, what Nuts said is quite right - you can expect (hopefully) pleasant daytime temperatures and minimal dreariness here in August/September. If you’re packing for the brisk weather in Iceland and Norway, you’ll have the right kind of clothes for the UK. And an umbrella, of course. No self-respecting English person leaves the house without an umbrella, no matter what the forecast says.
The guys are supposed to be collecting our interior doors today to take them off to be chemically stripped of all the old paint and varnish. They said some time between 12 and 2pm so I am sitting here in the hope that it’s closer to 12 than 2 as I need to get out and do some errands in town as well.
I changed the bedding as soon as I got up, taking advantage of that precious few minutes when the cats are face-down in their food bowls and ignoring the bed completely. Otherwise they will both settle on there for the long day’s snooze, and it would be so unfair to move them, right?
Tomorrow I will be trekking to the big DIY store for paint and several sets of new doorhandles. Such excitement, huh?
Yes, we changed a few of the words. ![]()
Blurf.
A day filled with rehearsals today. It’s gonna be gruelling. I’m worried about the conductor. I’ve known him for about 8 years, and I’ve never seen him this stressed out. I’ll try to do whatever I can to make him less stressed, though I’m not sure there is much I can do. I’ll see.
And then, later tonight… who knows what’ll happen…
Life is an adventure and I’ll take it.
waaaaah. my knee hurts. waaaaah.
also blurf.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 45 Amurrkin with drizzle and fog and a predicted high of 61 for the day with rain and general dreariness. Good day to stay in da cave.
Plans today include makin’ chewy tollhouse cookies, makin’ a dindin of fried chicken tenders, rice ‘n gravy, field peas with snaps, and bizkits and watchin’ a couple of movies this evenin’. JDD and Partner are comin’ over around four for drinks and an earlyish dindin. This should be fun as when we’re all together it’s a time of general silliness and carryin’ on. They will, of course, spend the night as alcohol will be involved and nobody leaves da cave drivin’ when alcohol that puts one over the limits is consumed. That’s a firm rule.
Baker HEE! Those lyrics are hilarious.
Spidey ain’t too much more evil lookin’ than a wet cat.
{{{Rosie}}} feel better!
MOOOOOOM y’all have fun! I say y’all throw trashy undies at the band!
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then purtification and cookie bakin’ shall commence.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
what kinda cookies you bakin’, there, 'bear?
Mawnin all and happy Caturday
Up caffinating and getting ready to make the loud for a Disney Boy Band, sadly I am afraid that my giant Rock and Roll beard may be permanently harmed by exposure to crapitude and tween girls. QOTSA should redeem it tomorrow.
Have a great day all
Cheers
Yes Mooooom, I knew you were kidding but dayum, the mental image was fun. My boss is a rather proper Englishman and the things we Americans sometimes do are a bit disconcerting for him.
Gotta run
Jim
Good morning!
I fell asleep freezing at around 9 and woke up at 3:30 feeling like I was on fire. (No, not menopause yet, I had the electric blanket on.) But for some reason I couldn’t fall back asleep for about an hour. Then I was awakened by pouncing dogs at around 7. Now I’ve just been trying to clean the house a bit before RT gets home. I haven’t gotten very far but I’ve at least put clean sheets on the bed and filed some paperwork. Very soon I have to pack up my things and head to the gallery.
Too bad Capt isn’t coming on tour anywhere near me. There’s quite a few local dopers that could probably go. : pouts:
Rosie I’m bakin’ chewy chawklit chip cookies.
There is a five year old boy trapped in the body of a 59 year old man here at da cave. I have two batches of cookies done and he is so excitated he can hardly contain himself. He’s had three cookies and I told him no more until after N.O.L. So, I’m gettin’ “sad puppydawg eyes.”
Happy Saturday!
I woke up too early, fell bad asleep and now I’m up too late.
I am freezing this am, I don’t know why because the heat is running.
It’s a chilly 27 degrees outside with a projected high of 31, so it won’t even get above freezing outside. I haven’t heard from the realtor, I hope we go this weekend. Interest rates have come down. If I don’t look at houses then Sah-son and I will go grocery shopping. If I do go he will just have to make do with pizza again today. I hate to make him suffer  If he could have his way it would be Ginos one day a week, TacoHell two days a week and pizza four days a week.
FCM I really want to go, and throwing panties at the stage sounds like fun to me.
Cookies are all baked, chikin tenders are soakin’ in buttermilk, and the kitchen is all cleanded up. The five year old managed to con three more cookies. “Sad puppydawg eyes” wins every time. Spoiled brat! He’s gone to take a nap and Ima surf teh intartoobz for a bit.
Looks like panty throwin’ wins!
I done killded the MMP again!
OYKW aka spoiled brat wants pizza. Hey, he’s buyin’ so who am I to object?
I ordered it via teh intartoobz and he’s gone to pick it up. Win-win for da bear!
Home from grocery shopping but we ended up just going to the corner store. The grocery store lot was packed and Sah-son is feeling sickly. Then I started getting nauseous so it’s probably a good thing we cut the trip short.
The realtor isn’t available to go to back out the Hagerstown until next weekend, that sucks. He offered a referral to someone else so I may take him up on it. He found a house here in the armpit in my price range but the condo fees are $165/month which pushes it right up out of my range. Taxes, insurance and car insurance are higher here too.
However the way I am feeling now I won’t be going anywhere today.
Pizza has been ingested. Nappage may occur.
Dang! I done killded the MMP again.
Peas and rice are cooked cause they can be reheated at eatin’ time. Gonna gear up to fry chikin’ strips soon as well as make bizkits and gravy. JDD and Partner are due over around four to hang at da cave. Lookin’ forward to that. We haven’t gotten to see them a whole lot this past month.
