The I Got Called Out During The Sermon MMP

I really should pull out some chicken and the crockpot soon. Found a recipe on an e-mail list I’m on that looked promising.

Chikin tenders fried. Bizkits bakin’ and gravy about to be made. Go Me! I’ve had to slap hands to keep 'em out of the cookie jar lest they spoil their dindin. Now I have three five year old boys trapped in adult male bodies to deal with.

Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) is home safe and sound, no thanks to her Dark Satanic Mill.
She said they gave the employees who came in McDonald’s for breakfast.
I had visions of the guy with the whip on a slave galley walking between the benches. “Who ordered the egg McMuffin?”

The snow is melting, but not fast enough for me. There will be ice when she ventures forth again early tomorrow damn morning.

I’m not sure men ever really do grow up. (grinning, ducking, and running)

Thawing the chicken for the crockpot concoction, which calls for putting the chicken (I’m using a little more than the recipe calls for, just to use it up) in the bottom of the container, adding a box of stuffing mix (using turkey, since that’s what I have), then layering on a mix of cream of _____ soup (using mushroom w/roasted garlic) and sour cream. This concoction then gets to brew for several hours on low. Hope it works as well as the recipe makes it sound like it will.

I’m sticking with on-hand ingredients since it’s raining and windy here. I’m thankful for rain, California being in a drought, but could do without the wind, and have no desire to venture forth for anything I can do without.

We do our best not to.

So I’ve noticed. :stuck_out_tongue:

In our production of The Mikado, we’re having Nanki-Poo (yes, that’s his name), our lead singer, have a shamisen (Japanese stringed instrument) as a prop. Guess what - I just saw a lady playing a shamisen in the subway!!! I take it as a good omen.

I just came from a grueling, intense (but fun!) 4-and-a-half hour rehearsal for the Mikado. Nice to kick back, hear a little shamisen music, and chill out in a web café before tonight’s epic party.

If I survived 4 hours of a rehearsal with bruised ribs, I can do anything.

Life is good.

We grow up. We just stay juvenile is all.

Martinis are bein’ had as I post. Not me though. I’m in a gin and tonic mood. Gin and tonic is that most Episcopal of all cocktails I do believe. At least it ranks up there with the all important Post Eucharist Bloody Mary. There’s talk of gettin’ in the hot tub. Personally I don’t think it’s cold enough out for that. It’s a balmy 63 Amurrkin out.

Ok, back to bein’ the host with the most.

I attended the Bar-Mitzvah of a wealthy guy’s son, and there were several sites for making bloody marys set up.
Something else you Goyim stole from us.

I hate you.

But you know that.

swampbear, I wish you could come to Topeka next Saturday evening. Our congregation is having a wine tasting party, kind of a last hurrah before Lent starts. And we do take Lent seriously.

Each person that brings wine also brings some kind of nummy finger food. I’m making spanakopita, little triangular filo pastry filled with a spinach-feta mix. I’ll buy a Greek wine to go with it.

Actually, I know that any Dopers withing reaching distance of Topeka are welcome!

That is good stuff.
I found out where to buy the pastry from a Greek guy that has a convenience store out in the boonies where I lived. He shot two robbers once, BTW.

Seems like a reasonable person.

Dang Baker and all we do is pigout on pancakes and bacon. We do have beer as well. We do Shrove Tuesday as a fundraiser for our Deacon’s ministry so it’s a real good cause. The wine tastin’/munchie eatin’ thing does sound fun though.

It’s movie time! The chosen movie is O Brother Where Art Thou.

Oh and this is a sightly inbreiadet psot.

ETA: Nitey Nite Y’all!

I like pancakes, bacon and beer. In fact, I prefer beer to wine. but beer, as an accompaniment to pancakes and bacon? Not so sure. But hey, I’d give it a shot!

Home at last - *loooooooooong *day! We walked around the motorcycle show for about 2 anna half hours. Then back to Mom’s for a nice late lunch. Afterwards she gave me a long-overdue haircut, then I showed her how to resize her photos on the computer. When we left, we went to my sister’s house - **FCD **is going back up there on Monday to use his chainsaw on some downed tree parts at Mom’s and sis’ yards. He’s such a nice guy.

Looks like there will be 3 Mumpers at Jim’s to do in March. I’ve got tickets for me and my sweetie, and I’ve informed the others which table they need to reserve. So yay!

Early to bed tonight - I’s tahred!!!

Lessee, 18-19 hrs each way, but Monday is a holiday. Hmmmm ::Ponders::
Will you throw in some fresh baked goodies? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure! What do you like? I make pies, scones, cookies, sweet rolls, muffins, and much much more.

BTW, what holiday are you speaking of? Or is it a work day?

Wait a minute, here in the US I forgot about President’s Day. And my calendar also lists something called Heritage Day, for Canada.

It was Bob Marley Day at work. The door be jammin’, the registers be jammin’, the film processor and the film scanner be jammin’.

The Canes lost, but there were two nifty things. 1. The Canes gave a shout out to the opposing team’s players going to the Olympics. 2. They had a little girl doing one of the commercial timeout contests. Then they showed a message from her dad in Afghanistan on the Jumbotron. The she turned around and Dad was there. Everybody cried on that one.

swampy, I have gin and tonics when I feel my scurvy and malaria acting up.

Well, the chicken is OK, and to my relief there WAS enough liquid in the recipe (I was kind of worried for a while there).

I did go to bed early last night - around 8:30, I think. Woke around 4:30 to answer bladder’s call, then Higgs started making noise a few minutes later. She’s been let out and fed, and I’m awake and functional, so there’s that. It’s another cold morning, but we’re supposed to see 40° today, which works for me.

I’ll be hemming towels today, and fixing a pair of jeans for FCD. That’s pretty much my big plans. The tops of my feet hurt after walking around the show yesterday - it feels like someone pounded them with a hammer. Getting old sucks sometimes.

And Mumpers going to see Jim’s show in Annapolis are all booked and ready! Yay!! Why does it have to be a month + some away?? I demand immediate gratification! Incidentally, Jim, so we know you, you’ll need to wear a red carnation or something. We can’t be throwing trashy scanties at the wrong guy!!

Happy Sunday!
