The "I guess I'm the first one up" MMP

One day closer to the weekend is all I can say really. I. Hate. This. Job.

Congrats on raises and service awards and babies and anything else anyone is celebrating!

Howdy Y’all! Irk well, it was. Dindin was leftovers.

Yay for the service award BBBobbio!

Yay for the raise Spaz!

Yay for the job interview shadow! Appropriate/inappropriate appendages shall be crossed.

Yay for non-pukiness LiLi! May it continue to be so.

MOOOOOOM your virtuousity does indeed deserve two ice cream sammiches.

ETA: I say send the bully fishies to fishie military school!

**janis **- I get the feeling that fish have their pecking order, and the two big meanies feel compelled to let the n00bs know what’s what. These two particular buttheads do it to all the newcomers, but after a day or so, they quit it. Meanwhile, we have rocks and such arranged so the littler guys have places to hide. And since we no longer have the predators, we’re pretty sure the flame won’t become sushi like the last one did.

But if your friend has any insight, I’d love to hear it. The underwater soap operas are a trip!

Your e-drinks are on my e-tab. Or is it i-tab now? I’ve lost track of which vowel means “cool and digital” now.

Congrats on the raise, Spaz!

Good luck at your interview, Shadow!

Another sucktastic day at work; this of course, is nothing new.

That flame angel is very pretty, FCM.

Nothing much else going on. Just another day over here in Taterland.

Well, I missed Monday morning posting, but at least that means it’s not Monday morning anymore! I have no idea what’s going on in the MMP these days - but your poor gramma, SpazCat. Here’s hoping she recovers quickly and is able to put mended foot to the behind of the genius who did that to her. Hooray to Taters, Shadow, and big hooray to LiLi!

I’m recovering from day #2 of the new job, trying to work the kinks out of my back and shoulders from being at a desk, on the computer alllllllll day (surprised I can stand the sight of my computer now that I’m home). I was laid off about 2 months ago and have taken a long-term temp position, which wasn’t my first choice but I’m trying to be thankful for the money, the opportunity, and being out of the house, and have hope that other employers will be more interested in me now that I am working again. I do have an interview Thursday evening - already had a phone interview and passed the skills testing so we shall see what we can see.

The heat and humidity been oppressive so I haven’t been too inclined to leave the house more than necessary lately but tomorrow should bring a cool spell - only 76 degrees. I’m thinking it will be a good evening to put a chicken on the rotisserie for supper. And I am looking forward to attending a surprise birthday party this weekend at one of my favorite area bars (no one spill the beans!!!)

Ugh. Toofache. Tonight I was lying on my bed reading, and my cat Nick snuggled up beside me. Oh, how sweet. Until he wet on me and my bed. Apparently he has another UTI. Started him on clavamox. Then I went out to water the horse and saw my doberman chewing on half a dead rabbit. Threw the bunny on the burn pile across the road. Later stepped in the other half of the dead bunny. My life in the country.

LiLi - {{{pukey vibes}}}

StG

Cool fishies, Moooom. Well, fishy, really. The arrow crab is a little bit creepy.

Yay for the raise, Spaz! And I think we should pick a new vowel to represent cool/digital.

Sounds generally icky, St.G. Especially the bunny.

Welcome back - and yay on the new job, Fearless One.

Today’s public service links:

For Harry Potter fans: a blog entry about how Hermione is the real hero. (The title is “Harry Potter is the Boy Who Lived. Hermione Granger is the Girl Who Studied And Saved Everyone.”) The writing isn’t great, but the idea is interesting.

Also, really cool pics and essay by David Hume Kennerly about Betty Ford. It’s a blog post in the NY Times, so you might need to register to get to it. The photo of her dancing on the Cabinet table is amazing.

Off to sleep.

Hugs.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 77 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 97. Definitely July! I am a July baby so that makes me just like the weather, hot and steamy.

Ok, I got nuttin’ else so I’m off in search of caffiene and brekkie. Then, alas, I must purtify for irk.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Blurf.

That is all.

Blurfity blurf.

Woke up way too many times. Can I stay home today too, please?

Hugs.

Yesterday afternoon I stepped out to check on some transplants I’d made and my neighbor (a real southern matron and ringer for Laura Bush) pointed up to the mercury streetlight. There was perched the biggest hawk I’ve ever seen. It was a rusty brown, beige chest and there were two Mockingbirds going crazy with frustration flying around to harass him. You could actually hear them as they flew into him and batted him with their wings.

An hour later I went for an evening walk, ran into my archaeology neighbor who pointed to, yes, the streetlight, and there still was the hawk with attendant Mockingbirds. They looked almost comical in stature, maybe a tenth the raptor’s size and weight, but committed, persistent little fellers they were. Remind me never to piss off a Mockingbird.

Good party here last night. Many bottles of wine brought by and consumed by guests. Lots of fun.

Oof. Tired today.

Rumor has it this was Harper Lee’s original title but her publisher convinced her to change it.

Yawn. Is it really mid-July already? One more day until my 3 day weekend!

My current knitting project. I’m using a pinkish-orange silk blend. I’ve only knit a couple of rows, but it’s from the hem up, so it will get faster as I go along.

Off to work.

Fly-by post! Off to knit at Waffle House. ::vroooooom::

I don’t know if I’m going to get my bloomers done in time. I got the fabric cut out yesterday, between one thing and another didn’t get the edges zigzagged. Mom’s going to help me tonight, but if they don’t get done tonight they’re waiting until after Faire.

I’ve got a easy little freelance job for next week. 50 bucks. Of course, I’ve got a tire with a slow leak that will probably have to be replaced. That’s happening Friday, along with buying groceries, making lemonade, and loading the car. (I’m hoping to get packed Thursday night, except for food).

ETA: Oh! And Mom bought me a bowtie last night! Now I just have to learn to tie it and figure out which shirts it goes with (probably not the purple paisley one). It’s a light olive green and blue plaid, much more subdued than that sounds.

Thanks, TygerGirl. Now I want to sew. What do I want to sew? Curtains, a dress, play clothes for the kids? Gnat could use some dress-up clothes.

Thanks!

And thanks for the update, gt. Congrats, LiLi!! Fingers crossed for a little girl. And appropriate levels of pukiness.

Cool fish and crab, FCM!

Was that chaoticbear zooming by?? Did he come back while I was gone? Welcome back! Good to see you!

Good luck to those looking for jobs. I’m interviewing someone tomorrow and probably someone else next week. So fingers crossed on the hiring side here! One of the people we work with is leaving so it’ll be a bit of a PITA until they get her backfill hired and trained, which takes considerable time.

Sorry for the sucky job, mmmmms. Is this a new-ish job or the same one as ~6 months ago?

I need to get knitting pics posted. I don’t have anything as elaborate as you do, shadow, but I did just finish a pair of socks that I was quite proud of. They weren’t anything special, no pattern or anything, but it’s only my 3rd pair of socks so just finishing them was an accomplishment. My cousin’s wife is expecting their 2nd baby so I think one of baby blankets will have to be for them. Or I’ll make a new one since I really like making baby blankets.

KT’s working from home so we went out for lunch together. There’s a place near here that has an awesome Greek salad with tomatoes, bell and banana peppers, kalamata olives, chickpeas, beets, lettuce, and feta with gyro meat on top. That’s good stuff! I just wish I could figure out what’s in their dressing so I could make it at home.

Very subtle how you managed to work that in there, bear:stuck_out_tongue:

It’s supposed to cool down a bit her - highs in the mid-80 for the rest of the week. Yay! I may even be able to open the windows at night and enjoy the 60s…

Taz is back on The List. He peed on my side of the bed yesterday - right about where he usually sleeps, the bastard - and I didn’t discover it till I was getting ready to go to sleep. It seeped all the way to the memory foam topper, so we had to strip the bed completely bare. I sprayed the topper with Nature’s Miracle and aired it on the deck all day. I’m taking him to the vet now. Stoopit cat.

Laterz!
