The I Have No Idea of The Day, Date, or Month MMP

Happy treason day, former colonials! :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s likely to be pretty chaotic here today; today is the day the pubs open, having been closed since March, as well as restaurants and hairdressers. Lets just say, I’m not convinced this is a good idea, especially reopening the pubs on a Saturday…

I may nip up to the fruit 'n veg place later, but I’m going nowhere near a pub, nor am I planning on driving anywhere, especially this evening.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (mostly N.O.S.?) with a predicted high of 92 and partly to mostly N.O.S. for the day. JDD and Partner are comin’ over around eleven and we shall all frolic at the cee-mint pond for a while and then partake of ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, garlic bread and watermelon. That shall be the extent of our Fourth of July celebration. I’m sure there will be Earth shatterin’ Kabooms around the ‘hood this evenin’. There were some last night but apparently everybody was over it by ten o’clock. Here’s hopin’ tonight will be the same.

Since I can’t, or don’t know how to yet, do stuff in big, bold fonts and stuff I’ll just say Happy Independence Day/Colonial Treason Day to all the Amurrkin Mumpers.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Hoo and Rah!

Happy Fourth/Sattidy Y’all!

I heard a few Kabooms last night, but it’s normally very quiet around here on the 4th. It’ll be interesting to see what tonight brings. We’ll be leaving between 8:30 and 9, and I expect we’ll leave Mom’s around 3 or so to get home in time to feed Higgs. I need to pack the car and pack our swimming stuff. Probably should make a list…

Happy Saturday!

Happy 4th of July

It’s already hot outside.

I slept in until 6 this morning.

No dog park today as it is closed for the fireworks display tonight.
I could have gone to the other dog park, but it’s kind of suck ass, no seats, no trees, no shade, no water, no cage, and while not a concern for me, the fence is only three feet high.
I’ve also heard you’re not supposed to take your dog offleash there (so then what is the point?) and a number of people bring dogs there that shouldn’t be off leash and will tell you you need to leave before they take their dog offleash. One of them told the airedale dad that. He laughed and said go ahead, an airedale is just a pit with fur. He says everywhere he goes people think his dog is some kind of doodle.

Echo went all Tasmanian Devil on the airedale yesterday. Usually I grab her when she does that, but I figured since she can’t hurt him, and he’s so goofy and will think she is playing, so he won’t hurt her, let her go on with her big bad ass self.
She figured out that he didn’t give a crap about her attitude and soon they were playing again.
Good lesson for her, I’m always telling her that one day her alligator mouth is going to get her canary ass in trouble.

Not much planned for today.
My son got the rest of the rocks put down yesterday. I was supposed to go out with him but I got stuck on a call from irk. By the time the call was done and I went outside about a half hour later, he was done. I had wanted to supervise, but he knew what to do.

I’ll irk a bit today, and there is always houseirk to be done.

Glad you and hubby and pup all are safely home now Butters.

All righty - the car is all packed except for the deviled egg fixin’s - they’ll go in last. The dishwasher is sloshing along. The critter fountain has been cleaned. I’m dressed in presentable garments.

All systems go! I think Higgs will be happy to be left home - no one to bother her and we should be back shortly before supper time.

PARTY ON!!!

Grump. Up by 6:30am, so nappage is a definite possibility. Due to hit 90F again, so just as well the lawn’s mowed. Nothing on the agenda so will probably self-isolate with my library again. Might unpack the new trimmer/edger I bought last week and have a go at the growth around the house, but not a big worry.

FCM, hard keeping track of the men and women here. In fact, I think we’ve got more ladies than gentlemen posting reguarly in the MMP now. Enjoy the party!

Sari, glad all the rocks are in place.

Butters, news on husband-unit just keeps sounding better and better. Maybe this operation was the golden one. I’ll keep hoping so.

Nut, think you’re wise on the pubs front. Are they limiting numbers/social distancing at them? Our restaurants are open but at about 50% capacity.

It was relatively quiet fireworks-wise last night, expecting many more bangs and booms today. All y’all have a good day, Independence or not.

I made fish’n’chips tonight. I used cod, and I don’t think I’ll get that brand again. Bones.

That’s what happens when you buy Dr. McCoy brand fish. :skull_and_crossbones:

Today I will get the worm bin cleaned out. I will.

Happy Treasonous Colonies Day!

Supposedly both, but the actual implementation is being left to the discretion of individual pubs, and a half-full pub doesn’t make much money, so…

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today. I’m also not working.

I don’t think I’ll ever browse Craigslist for “used toilet”

Happy Fourth of July/Colonial Treason Day/Saturday!

Have a safe trip and fun day FCM
You could have put the toilet in the yard and planted flowers in it.

Only 9:30 and the dogs are driving us crazy.

Well… It’s sunny. The hardware store doesn’t open until nine. If they’re open today. I’ll have to wait two hours to even find out if they’re open.

The Daughter and The Son–two separate households, two different but adjacent counties, little contact between them–are both awaiting results from COVID tests.

Both have felt crappy, The Daughter with slight fever that comes and goes, The Son no fever. The Daughter is currently battling a Urinary Tract Infection, which is probably the source of the fever. Both kids have sinus problems, and we’re back up to full-smog status in SCal. The Son’s symptom is shortness of breath. When each separately contacted their Primary Care, were told to get tested.

I doubt they have it, but the protocol is to be tested. Unfortunately, there is a massive, massive backlog of tests, so it may take longer than the “three to five days” people are told.

The Daughter gave a lovely description of the nasal swab. She said it looks like a little mascara brush, until it is shoved a foot in your nose. Then it turns into a huge wire bottle brush, and the technician tries his or her best to scrape all the way back to your brainstem. Yes, you get a nosebleed.

She says the throat swab is almost as much fun.

COVID is creeping closer, guys.

Maybe the Mt Rushmore guys need nasal swabs done?

For some reason The Book of Faces thinks being a good citizen and looking ahead are abusive topics and wouldn’t let me post today’s Saturday Shorts. Fortunately I also post them in Another Place that isn’t run by an evil empire.

Are You a Good Citizen?
The Benefits of Looking Ahead

Happy Independence Day! Have I mentioned that it is my least favorite holiday due to the fact that I hate, I hate, I hate fireworks?

Nick deserved the conk on the head from Sputnik.

Surprisingly we heard nary a firework last night but there is always tonight. Both my critters are afeared of big bangs and thunder.

I am doing an experiment cooking dry beans from a non soaked state in the instant pot. It’s almost time to see if it worked or if I have bean mush.

I hope everyone enjoys any celebrations they have or attend. I only wish I had a watermelon but don’t wish it enough to go get one.

Hello all - I hope everyone is doing well.

Hubby had kidney stone issues this week, which tied things up. He’s passed a few and is doing better. I’m trying to get him to go to the doctor to at least get a status check on this kidneys, but he’s “fine” and doesn’t wanna.

My sister was just told that she needs to have a heart valve replaced immediately. I am worried.

I also had some dental stuff done. I have facial nerve issues (a perk of my medical issues). The tooth they were working on exacerbated those nerves and I was out for a few days.

All of which to say, I have read very little. I’m sorry. I hope Butters’ hubby’s surgery went well.

The fireworks here have been going off for weeks, but last night’s were really loud. Akiko decided that enough was enough and was barking and growling. Then she sat down right on top of one of us to make sure we were accounted for. Yoshi seemed completely unfazed.

I’ll try to do a better job of checking in. Somehow the new Board has messed up my routine and I don’t get over here as much. I’ll work on it.

I hope everyone is well. Happy Saturday!

Afternoon all. It’s 92F at 1pm, so staying inside seems to be a good idea. Watched one of my favorite old war movies (“The Enemy Below” with Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens) and some soccer. I think nappage may be upon me quite shortly.

Sunny, good ta’ see ya. And yes, Butters hubby came through with flying colors…hopefully sister will have the same degree of success. And ouch! on the nerves…

Vow, hope the adult kids are ok. Have heard about the COVID test, I probably should have it (no symptoms but I’m old) but really don’t like having things shoved way up my nostrils.

Nut, so far our restaurants are behaving, but I don’t frequent bars so I don’t know how they’re doing here (bars in the USA tend to be much less family-friendly than pubs in the UK).

Watching the Fort Madison, Iowa railcam and they’re firing off a cannon salute to the 4th of July. Ruble would be pleased.

Take care all and hope the 4th of July earplugs work.

A few distant bangs last night, but I’m sure tonight will get stupid. I’ll have to plug in the floor fan for some white noise. Grilled sausages for dinner today and a heapin’ helpin’ of my shrimp/pasta salad to go with.

New renters across the street. Real go-getters. I can’t believe they’re putting that much work into a rental unit. They’re repainting the walls and refurbishing the floors. He’s already removed the dead stump of a tree that was cut down ten years ago, and is cleaning out all the crap that has accumulated from past tenants. The landlord is useless for repairs and told them to “do whatever you want to the place.”

I have cleaned out the worm bin. I repeat: I have cleaned out the worm bin. Now I don’t have to worry about for three more months.

Just waiting for the sun to go down so we can contribute to the fireworks noise tonight. Unlike some people, ours will be done before 11.
