The I Have No Idea of The Day, Date, or Month MMP

Late to the party, but virtual high fives to Butters. So glad all went well and that benefits are already apparent! I love the Rocky theme for COVID discharges. Last time I was hospitalized, births were announced with Brahm’s Lullaby. Always gave me a smile.

Moooom, as I understand it, aneurysms are not uncommon and rarely rupture. Most are tiny, so docs just monitor them. I had no idea they could be fixed without surgery, so I learned something today. Sending best wishes for your brother.

What’s with the tea hate? I love tea. I can’t drink the black stuff because I get migraines, but green tea is yum with a little lemon and a whisper of honey, and I love apple cinnamon spice herbal tea.

shoe, sorry your mom is coming, since she’s been…difficult. I take it she ignores COVID concerns, or does she plan to quarantine for 2 weeks before she sees you?

Off to walk to the pharmacy. I didn’t get a walk in today because various people needed to talk.

@kaiwik, we will of course require puppy pictures. I’m generally not that big a fan of small dogs (I grew up with Dobermans as our primary dog breed), but Pomeranians are amusing and cute. The ones I’ve met were generally not of the high-strung yippy Mr. Muffykins “rodent in a dog suit” variety, either.

Got a sweet surprise in the mail today. A package from Chewy. I was initially a little worried because I didn’t remember ordering anything from them, so… was it an accident? Did I forget some autoship? Inside there were two wrapped presents: small painted portraits of my two cats. The one of my girl is really wonderful. It’s 100% definitely her, sad eyes and button nose and all.

There they are. Aren’t they sweet?

here they are in photo form, for reference. My girl (the black one) really hates having her picture taken, but really loves belly rubs. Also, that’s kind of her permanent expression: always a split second away from getting spooked and taking off. My boy (the tabby), on the other hand, is a total ham. Hard to believe he’s the real feral and she’s the fake one.

They are VERY sweet! How cool are these? (Answer: VERY cool!)

I went to the pharmacy and came home irritated. A huge sign at the door–you seriously couldn’t miss it–said wearing masks was mandatory to enter the store. The couple in front of me were not wearing masks. There was nobody at the door to stop them, so I asked the pharmacy tech. (Note: I am normally not that person, but this disease is an exception.) She said they could only suggest people wear masks; if they don’t, there’s nothing staff can do. Her coworker confirmed this.

Mind you, our governor issued an order requiring masks in public spaces. Whatever. If you don’t mean “MANDATORY,” then don’t say “MANDATORY.”

OK, deep breath and letting this go now.

Butters, hooray!

Your boy tabby has the most beautiful long whiskers!

I’ve always been this way. It’s a part of my space cadet credentials. Somebody once asked me how old I was and I said “Ten. I mean eleven. Yeesh, twelve!” I don’t have to worry about senility and Alzheimer’s. Not because I’m immune to it, but because nobody will notice any difference.

Happy dance!

This is cool. In all this doom and gloom the people in the hospital need these reminders that there are winners.

Not only do I have to go to the office today, but I have to go to a subcontractor’s office. And I made plans for dinner. So today is going to be really weird. Not only do I have to put on shoes and socks, but I even used the hair dryer.

And I’m really glad this virus isn’t transmitted by mosquitoes. It seems the season started on Sunday and I am on the menu.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

I like the “For the love of God, put on some pants” expression. But that is a neat gift.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 92 and maybe rain this afternoon or not. TWPTB are in willy-nilly mode again. The big plan of the day is a trip to the Pubic Sto’ to lay in some provisions. I think OYKW is goin’ to do that, which will be fine by me, as I really have no desire to be about the public today. Anywho, they have a kinda deal on shrimpies (price is a little less than normal) so shrimpies 'n grits are on the menu for today along with bacon wrapped spareguts roasted in the oven. YUM!

Butters YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! So glad that went well for hubs. Any idea when they’ll spring him?

dots the portraits of the kittehs are great!

{{{MG}}} Hope you made it through the night OK.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

We had some rain and thunder in the wee small hours and a serious threat around lunch time. But I should be able to get my walk in this morning, so huzzah for that. Then at 10, I’m taking the bags of clothes to the thrift store, followed by a trip to Food Lion because sodas and cherries are on sale this week!

Then right about the time the sky’s supposed to be most open, I have to return to the hospital for a follow-up mammo and ultrasound. So I’ve got a full day ahead.

We did carry-out Chinese for supper last night - I swear, the child’s lo mein was a big enough serving to make 2 meals for me! And my chicken and broccoli was also 2 meals in one. Even FCD had leftovers from his combo. Today’s lunch is set, but I’ll still need to figure out supper. Maybe something with ground beef?

For now, I’m going to finish breakfast, then head out to hike the neighborhood.

Happy Wednesday!!

I ended up not drinking yesterday. But I did eat seven cookies (not all at once.)

Back from my walk. It was cool out there, but HYUUUUMID!!! ugh.

Hmm…I was quite sure I’d posted something here this morning but it must have been on my list of things to do that got interrupted by my boss and her skype message that just said “bloody Russians!” They are indeed worthy of her ire, since they’ve messed up a bunch of marks and made a lot more work for us. Add to that all the other bits and pieces that haven’t worked with our end of session process this year, and it’s still a busy day here.

Yay for Butters and Mr Butters! I’m so glad the surgery went well and his recovery looks good, now you can swan around the hospital in your stunning new fashions without having to worry about him so much.

It’s grey and gloomy outside today, nice to have the windows open and a cool breeze coming through the house too. Since it’s Wednesday and would normally be pub night, and we’re going grocery shopping later, there may be the purchase and consumption of some fine real ales. One of my usual Wednesday night pub friends would normally be ecstatic about hostelries opening up again this weekend but he’s been waiting for an ileostomy reversal operation that is now scheduled for 7th July so he’s staying at home like a good boy instead. I’m happy to let the initial rush settle before I consider it too. Instead, I’ve booked us tickets for an afternoon at the zoo

Our local zoo has an online booking system to keep numbers down. You have to book an arrival time (mine’s 2pm-2.25pm) which is all pre-paid online with a barcode to show them when you arrive, and I’ve pre-paid parking as well so I’ll get a token for the barrier to get out of the car park when we leave. Each timeslot has a limit to the numbers and there’s a one-way system to walk round the area. It will be our first proper outing since mid-March which is very exciting!

And there’s giraffes! Did I mention there will be giraffes?

Morning. Portraits are lovely Dots Maybe I should upload a photo of my BuddyBoy and hope to get one. Today marks one year I lost my best dog ever Lucky Louie not a day goes by I don’t think about him

I slept finally. Sleep is a wonderful thing. I did have a few beers from the hotel pantry because the bar was closed but it was open at 7 am yesterday. May be an early bird bar.

Hubs called and is so excited that he can breath. His voice sounds normal and strong. He has literally been given a second chance at life. He is waiting to be moved into a normal room but is not available yet. Maybe when the Dr comes round they will just let us go home. I don’t want him released too early but if possible I would be thrilled.

I can’t visit until 3 so I’m just going to putz around the room and straighten up. Gonna have a PB and J for breakfast.

Y’all be good.

The zoo in Baltimore is now open with what seems to be a similar system. We’ll take Roxy soon - she’ll go crazy over all the critters!! In fact, I’m thinking we’ll get a membership - just 3 visits will cover that cost easily.

Not sure when the Smithsonian Zoo will open - hope it’ll be soon. The only problem there is parking. We usually take the subway, but I’m not sure I want to do that myself, let alone with a toddler…

Yay for Mr Butters!

I’m considering having a day out tomorrow; I’m finally going to be returning all the lab gear I half-inched for my project, and I might be able to combine that with a garden visit. I have a free pass, it just requires booking, but I need to coordinate with when I can drop stuff off… There won’t be giraffes though :frowning:

Hopefully the rain will stay off long enough for me to go on a walk. Maybe I should go check on the :bee: s as well, but it’s quite showery, and they don’t like unexpected rain in the hive any more than I would in the house. I could fit that in on the way back tomorrow, thus being unnecessarily efficient.

Morning all. Put on the sleep mask and stayed in bed until nearly 9am. Raining out but I must face it for today is the Great Grocery Stocking for July, so a-shopping I will go.

Butters, amazing progress, when 2 weeks ago things were looking so bleak. Happy news.

Dot, nice portraits (and photos). Not a cat person (I get along with them), but hope they make you happy.

nellie, mandatory or not, fools will always be with us. At least now you can spot them more easily…

MG, cookies are good.

Boo fae, what do the ‘Bloody russians’ have to do with your marks? I though they were too busy subverting elections and paying bounties? Best luck to your friend and enjoy the zoo trip. Giraffes are cool.

OK, need to prepare myself for the great outdoors. All y’all take care on Hump day.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

It’s only four miles away, so I thought it would be neighbourly.

And of course, I have to post Canada Day, by Stompin’ Tom Connors.
