The I Have No Idea of The Day, Date, or Month MMP

Hey, you have enough patience to make a chess board. I’m told I’m a patient person (kind of a necessary quality for a teacher), but if I tried to make a chess board, I’d run out of patience pretty fast. Also fingers, which would make playing chess a little harder.

MetalMouse, I’ve had my fair share of scratched corneas, too. Sorry you’re in the club. I’m pretty good at living on top of discomfort, so I used to stick in my contact (back when they helped), and put off getting it checked. Used to drive my eye doc nuts. If I had a scratched cornea, they’d put me on antibiotic drops and bump up the steroid drops, and I can do that on my own. This doesn’t feel like a scratched cornea. Really, it’s not that bad. I shouldn’t have mentioned it.

Also, kudos on your donations. You’re a stand-up guy…or, er, mouse, as the case may be.

Butters, I can’t tell you how happy your reports on Mr. Butters’ progress make me. To hear about someone turning around like that from a relatively noninvasive procedure is so uplifting.

OW, maybe we should establish an annual Rubles award. Doggio’s a strong contender for this year, don’t you?

OMfuckingG did I need that shower. Got a damn heat rash today, running orders out to customers. Hope they appreciated their damn weed, dammit!

No thunderboomers tonight … except the man-made kind. Fireworks. Many, many - unlicensed, random Joe Schmo and his many beers - fireworks.

Last night/this morning, I was having my usual early morning bio-break (pee, snack/water, smoke, potty again, then yawn back to bed) and was amused that (right exactly at 4:20 a.m) there was a sudden burst of fireworks. Guess I’m not the only insomniac stoner around here.

Dinner is bacon-and-potato-and-onion hash. Why haven’t I made this in so long? I even washed some dishes.

Oh!! It literally rained cats - but not dogs - this morning. Really. I’d let Nikki out and was standing in the doorway with her, contemplating life and such, when a cat dropped off the roof. Flattened out and looked around all freaked out (and embarrassed) while Nikki simply flattened and freaked.

Herding cats!

I dashed out to ward off the airborne intruder while looping behind Nikki to herd her back in - and had a brief moment of wondering if they’d reverse things - then RoofCat shot off and a rather dazed looking Nikki slunk in and we stared at each other with a “WTF did that just happen?” expression on both our faces.

Well for all my fretting about storms taking the power out, it didn’t rain a drop for the rest of the day.

I still feel punky. I’ve been wondering for a bit if I might have some kind of food sensitivity. One feature of this whole thing is that it activates my hypochondriac buttons. Since I don’t know what it is and and is doesn’t fit into the obvious/common boxes, I sometimes go all “Maybe it’s a circulatory problem? Maybe it’s a food intolerance? Maybe it’s a parasite? Maybe there’s poison gas in my house? Maybe I’m actually an android and my batteries are bad? Maybe an evil wizard is trying to take control of my body, but he’s a trainee wizard and a C student at best and is really just making a mess of things?” Seriously, though- there are certain foods that have predictable effects, but lately, it seems like there are a whooooole lot of them and it’s hard to discern what the problematic link(s) might be.

Anyway, PT early in the morning tomorrow and my cat is snuggled up against me trying to purr me to sleep. It’s surprisingly effective, so I’d better double-check my alarms before she succeeds in hypnotizing me.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
Last night:
Weatherman: “Only a slight chance of very isolated showers…”
Weather: :sends three thunderstorms over my apartment:
Me: “Gordie, do you wanna go out, it stopped raining?”

Make sure all your replies are on a diffrent line from the quoted text. Discourse seems weird about it. And I will have to grow a beard I guess

MG, Yay cookies!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 with a fifty percent chance of rain this afternoon, which means it will probably rain. We had a buncha rain yestiddy afternoon/early evenin’. Two big events goin’ on today. Well, big here at da cave, anyway. This mornin’ I shall betake myself over to the church house around nine to assist with mowage, while OYKW cranks up the smoker for ribs and chikin’ boobs. We know how to really live it up do we not! The ribs are for a Sattidy Fourth of July/Colonial Treason Day feast. We shall partake of two of the boobs for tonight’s sup (they are huge!) and the rest will become chikin sallit, a thing we both lurve.

Dots I say at least go by the party if you can. The kid will appreciate it I am sure. Also, thanks for the info on uploadin’ a pic. I shall try that later. Hope PT goes well today.

MG glad you went with cookies instead of booze.

MOOOOOOM yay for the good medical news!

Cats ::tacklehug:: Come back and play some more. Been really enjoyin’ your instructional short films over on the book of faces. I love lookin’ at those films from the Prelinger archives. Anyone curious, google Prelinger Archives. All kinds of those old educational films and other weird stuff there.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must make myself a bit presentable. No need to purtify so much as I’m goin’ to mow grass, but one still must look somewhat presentable I suppose. Woe.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

blush Thanks. I may link them here too just for the entertainment value.

Up, sheveled, caffienating. Soon I’ll have to make my long commute to work from the chair at my personal computer desk to the chair at my irk computer desk. A whole six feet! Yes, I have joined the ranks of the irk-at-home crowd. Didn’t really have a choice, but I fought it as long as I could.

I’ve got tomorrow off, though. Yay four-day weeks!

Looks like another hot one ahead for us. I’ll go get my blood drawn (thankfully, it’s not fasting bloodwork) then I need to run to Lowe’s for a couple of bags of composted manure for my plants. Did I mention I have 11 cuke shoots already? Plus I think my basil is coming up, too. I need to get a bigger pot for one of the 'mater plants, and I may look for thyme seeds while there.

I should also drive John Deere over the newest grass - it’s getting really tall. But I’ll leave the blades at the highest setting till the grass is more established. Not much else planned for the day - I’ll figure it out as I go along.

Happy Thursday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s another day of fixing end of session issues for graduating students so the little cherubs can get on with their lives.

metalmouse, the bloody Russians only returned one set of marks for a module and never told us they’d got a second set so students should have received an average of the two. That means going back to the records and amending all the marks (differences went from a student losing three marks to another who gained twelve!), then getting Registry to undo all the results, end of session calculations, and producing a new datasheet for us, we amended that, checked and double-checked it, uploaded it, re-did the EoS processing and then had to add all the details to Chair’s Action once it was approved by the rep for the Board of Examiners. And that’s just one small mistake…bloody Russians!

mooooom glad to hear the good news from the boob-squishers. It was good to get a result so quickly and relieve the stress. You can now mow with abandon

Hmm…lunchtime, really don’t know what I want for lunch. I suppose I should go and stare into the depths of the fridge until inspiration strikes!

Morning. Today is going home day we hope. I am a little disheartened as I don’t think we will get out and homeward bound early enough to fetch **BuddyBoy **. When I called yesterday to check on him the lady that answered the phone said “When are You coming to get him?” I said hopefully tomorrow and she said “morning or afternoon” and I told her it would be afternoon. She was pretty nasty to me. She said they could not give him a bath as he was having none of that and I told her fine. Now, I have to call back and tell her we may not make it before they close for the day. I even considered getting up at 5 am and going and take him home and coming back for hubs. This is a 125 mile trip one way. Hubby nixed that idea. I already rented the hotel room for tonight because visiting hours aren’t until three and check out is 11. Wasn’t gonna sit in hot ass car for four hours.

I know Buddy is antisocial and doesn’t like people except me and hubby but all they have to do is put him in a cage with some food and water and leave him alone. Just one more night. So I am trying to work up the courage to call that bitch and ask/tell her I can’t get him til tomorrow most likely. If we could get out of here by one we may be able to make it but my experience is it takes almost all freaking day to discharge. I can’t ask anyone else to go get him as he doesn’t like anyone and will bite them too. I really think this is all fear aggression but what do I know? I got him when he was 3 months old so who knows what happened in those first three months to make him so mean.

I am tired too. Sick of hospitals, sick of it all. Just tired of this virus. I am so grateful hubby is doing so well though.

Butters, safe trip home for you and husband-unit. And you are paying them to take care of Buddy, right? Tell them to suck it up, they’ve had ill-tempered dogs before, I bet.

Boo fae, still confused. You have Russians teaching at the school? Or some of these courses are in Russia?

swampy, cat, peeked at the Prelinger Archives, looks interesting (I like the old British Pathe site too), may have to find some time to browse.

Dot, give in to the Feline side of the Force…sleep…sleeeep…

shoe, been quiet on the fireworks side here, but I expect it to pick up soon. And the case of the roof cat was worth a grin for a Thorsday morning.

nellie, having worn glasses since I was 7, so any eye issues will catch my attention. Hope they’re doing better and glad it’s not the cornea.

Looks like the rain has moved on (20% chance today, 10% tomorrow), so Firday will be mow day. Need to mail letters/bills sometime today, but no rush on any of them. Breaking fast has occurred and we’ll see what else the day holds.

All y’all have a good Thorsday.

Most people think that it means having to cut out 64 little squares of wood and then painstakingly gluing them all together, but it doesn’t.

I have had blood drawn - it was super quick and easy. Then I ran to WalMart for some dirt and a big pot to put it in. On the way home, I went to Aldi - that place was a zoo!!! But I got the ribs that I stopped for, plus some other things.

Got home and started prepping the ribs for the oven when SIL informed me that they’re having dinner with friends tonight. So either FCD and I will have ribs or I’ll cook these up, then reheat them for tomorrow, and we’ll have something else. No biggie either way.

SIL is now taking trash and recycling and I’m finishing lunch. Then I’ll head out and play in my greenhouse for a little bit. After that, who knows??

Were there giraffes in Aldi Moooom? Does your Aldi have the weird middle aisle? I’ve never found giraffes in ours yet, but it wouldn’t really surprise me.

Stuff dropped off at skool (former skool now?). Had a wander round the site and a nice long chat with one of the lecturers about what on earth to do next; he said he’d keep an eye out for things, and has a lot of contacts in the sector, so something might come of it. He’s one of those people who always leaves me feeling optimistic after a chat, so even if not, it was helpful.

No giraffes, but lots of non-food items that come and go for no apparent reason. I did pick up a little gizzie that supposedly slices veggies into noodles - can’t wait to try to make zoodles!

I have transplanted my cherry mater and watered a bunch of stuff. Now I’m in the a/c. What to do, what to do…

Okay, the lockdown is obviously starting to affect my mind.

I just washed some windows in my house. This is definitely abnormal behavior.

Took today off due to lack of sleep, thanks to a little brat of a “neighbor” who decided that calling me a racist and talking about how I’m going to die in my sleep is a sane response to being informed that her neighbors do not appreciate loud music and bright headlights aiming into bedroom windows from 10’ away at 11:30pm.

The nightly game of “was that a firework or gunshot?” is getting scarier, since the bangs are getting louder, and I don’t live in a great neighborhood, so it could go either way.

I am not looking forward to finding out what level 7 of Jumanji 2020 is going to be.

Howdy Y’all! Mowage got accomplished over to the church house. I got back to da cave, showered, et a bologna sammich (cause I’m all gourmet like that), and have achieved nappage. OYKW cranked up the smoker and it smells soooooooooo good. Actually the ribs and chikin are out of the smoker now. The ribs have been wrapped in heavy aluminum foil and will get finished in the oven on Sattidy. They will fall off the bone. The chikin is in a pan which is wrapped with heavy aluminum foil. Both are now in da fridge. Need to figure out what we shall have beside smoked chikin boob for sup. Maybe succotash and smashed N.O.T.?

We got tshirts for our Back Forty Mowin’ Crew. I have uploaded pics to imgur and will now attempt to see if they post here.

Well I’ll be hornswaggled! It works! Thanks Dots!

VOW I don’t think you can taste the cilantro in Arizona Dreaming. See if they have a little starter envelope. (Also, with Penzey’s I’m pretty sure you can return it if you don’t like it.)

Since I can now do this, here’s a pic of me in my spectacular new spectacles!
