Home from all the doin’s. The service was nice and thankfully not too long. It was over in an hour and ten minutes. Then we attended the reception so’s we could speak to Jim. Now, usually this type of reception is little finger sammiches, lemon squares and punch. Not this one. Heavy horseovaries it was. Make your own little roast beast sammiches with horseradish mustard and pickled banana peppers, chikin fingers, pasta sallit, those little pinwheel thingys made with flour tortillas, cream cheese and other stuff, the other stuff in these bein’ slices of pickled okra (YUM!), pickled asparagus, little N.O.T. one could eat with one’s hands, lemon squares, fresh fruit, wine and both peach and raspberry flavored iced tea. Won’t be needin’ dindin now. Thus burgers and fries for N.O.L. tomorrow. Then we went by our friend’s place to have a bday drink. I had a very nice gin and tonic. OYKW had him a vodka and tonic the heathen.
So now we’re back at da cave and in chill mode. 'Tis hawt and hyoooomid out so glad to be in the cool a/c.
Hee, giggled at both the being joined by the knitting needles (because I had the same thought) and the suggestion for embroidery.
Went on a nice garden tour this morning, then worked in my own garden, then came in to hang out for a bit.
Have transferred pics to laptop and need to edit and upload to flickr.
Have also FINALLY updated the blog, including today’s brownie recipes. I added about 20 posts, including the deviled egg extravaganza from one of our March MMPs. It was amusing to go back through posts.
Got a delivery of Amaretti di Saronno cookies yesterday. Three tins of the mini cookies. I’ve always marveled at how one could make such wonderful cookies out of pulverized apricot kernels. They’re the perfect complement to canned Illy cappuccino or macchiato.
I’m making baked kitty. I got an IR heat lamp for the cat and after hanging it so it was at just the right height so that it was warm but not hot, she seems to like it. I also have it connected with failsafes so it can’t fall and on a timer so it doesn’t stay on too long. Never want your kitty over done.
Higgs is on The List perpetually. The other day after I finished cleaning the carpets, she peed in the dining room. This morning while I was scooping the cat box, she pooped in the family room. I swear, she thinks the house is her personal toilet! Stoopit dog. At least the poop is easier to clean up than puddles.
It’s mid-70s already and overcast - ugh! It felt oppressive when I took the idiot dog out, and I doubt it’ll get any nicer today. Fortunately, it’s an indoor activity day. I’ve got to wash all my knitting so I can take a bag of goodies to my mom. I need to pack for an overnight, and I’d like to find a piece of ceramics I can give to my friend, but pretty much everything nice has been sold already. I may give her one of the random pots that we put pennies in - it’s not like we need a gazillion of them.
I’ll be leaving around noon, and I mostly know where I’m going. I just need to find the address. I did save the email, so there’s that. And if I don’t find the sticky note today, I’ll find it in a month or so. Yeah, I’m organized.
My sweetie’s sleeping in - he had a rough few days on the bike and the walking around he did was hard on his back. He was going to mow today (the stuff I didn’t finish yesterday), but I kinda hope it rains soon so he can’t, especially since he tends to mow down my plants. Thus begins my morning.
No, it’s summer here - I think. I don’t go out if I don’t have to. But she likes to bake and since there isn’t a sunny window when the sun is at this angle above the horizon in NJ especially this close to the solstice, a heat lamp is the best option. Plus she never climbs up to her window perch any more anyway, but that’s another story.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a very hyoooooomid 76 Amurrkin out. It’s also overcast and a little drizzly. I do believe we shall have rain by late mornin’/early afternoon.
This mornin’ between the two services we shall have “Fifth Sunday Breakfast”, a tradition the Luteruns brought to us as it’s a thing they did before their service when they were in their own place. I shall have to eat sump’n before then as rumbly tummy won’t last that until ten o’clock without sustenance so mayhaps some toast will do until then. Anywho, I got some Jimmy Dean’s frozen sausage bizkits which need to be heated up in the nukelator which I can do at the church house. I also have some mustard and some grape jelly for condiments for those who desire. It’s cool in that those who come to the nine o’clock service and those who come to the 10:45 service can meet and hang for a little bit.
ΔΣ place a couple slices of bread on kitteh and you can have baked kitteh en croute.
Ok, now I need more caffiene and will make some toast for rumbly tummy. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence at some point.
