The I stayed up until midnight just to post this MMP

It’s been a hell of a week, and my weekend is chock full too.

We went and saw Mom at hospice yesterday. She’s getting weaker by the day and they don’t have the pain management dialed in yet. I hate to see her suffer. She was very pleased to see us though, and we chatted and held her hand. We got her to eat just a little too.

I need to take Brandi to the vet today for her shots and then both dogs will be current and caught up. I’m going to check with them and see if they offer boarding services as well. I still need to find someplace to put the dogs when we head off to my daughter’s wedding next month. I can’t believe her wedding is less than a month away.

After the vet visit, I have errands to run and chores around the house that need doing. I don’t think we have any evening plans, for once, and I’m glad. I’m just plain tired.

I’m gay and graying too, just sayin’

Back to stringing new lines for another phone…this one’s really unusual. A phone and fax (thermal!) combo for the Merlin PBX. Bigger than a square foot, so it’s a real desk-eater.

I just stole this off a good friend’s facebook page:

Bacon Brownies

1/4 pound bacon, cut into 1/4-inch dice
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
Fry bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until nearly crisp, about 5 minutes. Add honey and stir until the foaming subsides. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon to a plate to cool.
Mix melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl; mix in eggs.
Sift flour, cocoa powder, and salt together in a bowl; add to the egg mixture. Fold bacon and chocolate chips into the mixture; pour into the prepared baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 25 to 35 minutes. Allow brownies to cool for 20 minutes before cutting into squares.
Serves: 12 (or in SOME people’s case, serves 1)

same friend - different recipe

Amaretto Brownies

1 1/2 cups chocolate syrup
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup amaretto liqueur
3 drops almond extract

1 cup chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking pan.

Mix chocolate syrup, flour, white sugar, 1/2 cup butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl until smooth; spread into prepared baking pan.

Bake in the preheated oven until the top is dry and the edges have started to pull away from the sides of the pan, 30 to 45 minutes. Allow to cool completely.

Beat confectioners’ sugar, 1/2 cup butter, amaretto liqueur, and almond extract in a bowl until smooth; spread over cooled brownies.

Stir chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons butter together in a saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth, 1 to 2 minutes. Let cool slightly and drizzle over frosted brownies.

Serves: 24

gotti did you have to travel back in time to the late 70s/early 80s to do that?

Have done nuttin’ all day. All wet out so no mowage is happenin’. Woe is me.

I may, however, be compelled, compelled, I say, to make bacon brownies.

credit where credit is due - both brownie recipes are from Backwoods Home e-zine

And I’m done. I mowed the ditch, (very slippery and mooshy) cleared the fallen branches from the front yard and mowed, then mowed the side yard. I bet I had to stop 8 times to clear the discharge chute - the grass was high and wet and I guess I was trying to cut too wide a swath at a time. My right arm was muddy and grass-stained.

But now I’m showered and relaxing with a cold beverage. **FCD **should be here within an hour. I expect he’ll be pretty well pooped. And I should hear that my kid got safely to Orlando in a couple of hours.

I need to get things together for tomorrow. Going to a party given by one of my high school friends, then to Mom’s to spend the night and get some plantage. I need to wash the hats and afghan that I knitted - I don’t like to donate items that have critter hair and spit on them. The dog and the cats seem to think they can nosh on my yarn while I’m knitting. Idiots…

I’ll be glad when my sweetie gets home - I’s stahvink! I want lunch!!!

And I’m neither gay nor gray - even tho I’m older than the bear. Good clean living, you know. Oh, and **swampy **- you remember the shoe my sis made for you? She’s making one for my friend, only using a flip-flop because it’s summer. But yours is a one-of-a-kind. I trust it’s enshrined in a place of honor!

Not gay and not greying, although you’d think at my age I would be. Greying that is. Thank you great grandma for the not going grey genes.
She was 78 when she died and was just starting to go grey.

So is today a good day or a bad day?
I got woke up again today by the hounds from hell barking and banging around early this am. I don’t know what all the banging is but they sure do a lot of it.
Later, as soon as I opened my bedroom door to leave for the store hound from hell #3 starting barking and growling and had to be stopped from charging down the hall to attack me and/or Sah-dog.

So I went to the store and bought 2 Powerball tickets and the guy says ‘buy this other ticket, $2’. I said ‘huh?’ and he said ‘just give me $6’. So he doesn’t give me the ticket and I’m wondering what was going on and it was an instant winner and I won $50. It’s one of those 5 Card Cash tickets that I know nothing about, but hey I’ll always take $50.

So I ate half my sandwich, shared my barbeque chips with the dog, and I’m planning what to do with my windfall.

not gay, and gray only until the 17th when I have a salon appointment

Blurf.

I think I’ll pass on the bacon brownies- I like my arteries unclogged, thanks

Just picked about a kilo of strawberries, and the first of the redcurrants. It looks like about the same amount of strawberries will be ready tomorrow as well- I wish I had a bigger freezer. I’ve no idea what to do with them all. Maybe some form of jam?

MOOOOOOM the shoe is enshrined atop a curio cabinet in the study. It has gotten many an ummmmmm… oooooookaaaaaaaaaay… WHAT???.. and even a few 's.

My sweetie got home safely. We went out for a quick lunch. He’s now crashed in front of the TV. I think I’ll join him with my knitting needles.

It must have been a rough ride if he needs to be joined with knittin’ needles. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here I sit all gussied up on a Sattidy afternoon when I am usually at my slobbiest even. OYKW is in the process of gussyin’ up as I post. It’s dreary and cloudy out but no rain at the moment. This, however, shall change.

I shall grill burgers and make fries for dindin when we return this evenin’. I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a good ol’ homemade burger and fries.

Not even noon yet and it’s 96 out there. No, I am NOT going outside unnecessarily!

Otherwise, blurf.

Brandi does not like the vet. I think she was more stressed because she was separated from Polar than anything, but I couldn’t get the poor girl settled.

However, she has her shots and I got her nails clipped too. Her nails are black and I hate clipping them because I’m always afraid I’m going to cut too far and cause them to bleed.

Unfortunately, because I never received her shot records from her previous owners, and we slipped on the shots, the vet decided she needed all the shots and has to go back for a booster in three weeks. This may cause a big issue with kenneling; but we shall see. I know she was current on everything when we got her; she had just been flown in from Arizona, but I can’t prove it.

Oh well. It’s my fault for slipping up on the shots.

Still need to run errands, but I sure don’t feel like doing them.

So very tired. I got about five hours of sleep last night.

At least I’m on weekend now and I don’t have to deal with the Ferret on Tuesday. Yaaaaaaay.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Daughter arrived safely in Orlando sometime after 2-ish. So I can relax. Yay. Time to turn off the computer and knit the night away.

MWAH!!

*They’re coming to take me away ha ha
They’re coming to take me away ho ho hee hee ha ha

Oh wait they can’t take me to the funny farm
I am already there

I saw a play this afternoon. Some of my friends were in it.

It was actually a series of short plays, all on the theme of gay marriage. It’s interesting that since the US gay marriage laws were changed recently, some of the plays seemed a little out of date.

They were very good plays.

I should practice my clarinets tonight.
