The I stayed up until midnight just to post this MMP

That is incredibly inconvenient in a million different ways, but I say you’re better safe than sorry!

Up, irked, cleaned up.
I ate left over pizza rolls which were better than I thought they would be.

Sah-dog likes them too.
I need to run to the store and then back to irk.

I have some kind of thing going on and I don’t know it it’s a bug bite or what.
I have a bright red lump about the size of a 50 cent piece. It was surrounded by a large pink area about the size of a saucer, now the pink area is only slightly larger than the red area. I’m not feeling sick, I’m not running a fever and it doesn’t hurt.
Today the pink are is smaller, but the red area has a purple crater in it and the skin is peeling a bit.
I wonder if I got bit by a spider or maybe a deer tick.
I suppose the sensible thing would be to go to the doctor, but nobody has ever accused me of being sensible.

{{{Gotti}}}

I’m not sure if it’s good or bad?

I’ve been bitten by millions of ticks and never had a reaction, but perhaps you should check out Lyme disease.

I’ve never had a reaction to ticks before, but I have to spider bites.
I have a hard time believing I could have had a tick on me for very long without noticing. I never got the bulls eye but from that link not everybody does.

I’ll watch it and see where it goes.

Good point.

Deer ticks are teensy-tiny and not black like your standard dog tick - the sooner you start treatement if it is Lyme, the better. I have 2 friends who didn’t get treatment for months - they’ve now got chronic issues. My mom went to the doc within a few days, and she was better in a matter of weeks.

**Sari **- DON’T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY!!! [/nag]

**Spidey **- throttle, altho he isn’t all that aerodynamic. The windscreen diverts a lot of air, tho, so it’s not that huge an issue.

T-storm warning/watch in effect. Very overcast out there. After we feed the doggies, we’re going to Salsa’s for supper. Yum!

I heard on NPR today-so it must be true-that deer ticks spend most of their time annoying a “white footed mouse”.

Cut little fellows.

I had a tick on me for a day unnoticed last year. I mowed the yard one day, th the following night, DH spotted the tick on my side. I’m pretty sure there aren’t any ticks at my office.

Clever bastard was just out of sight, and if I hadn’t reached for something, thus exposing it to his view, it may have stayed on me even longer.

I found one last week. “Why the hell do I have a scab on my hip? <yank> Damn, this scab has legs…”

Per my doctor, the tick has to be attached to you for a couple of days to transmit Lyme Disease. If it has started to bloat, be concerned.

Also, look for them at pinch points. Any place were elastic rides, as well as a belt. Very rarely will they attach to open skin such as an arm, chest, or abdomen for example. Had one on my neck one time, but that was at a house fire and I had an SCBA on, so there were plenty of pinch points on my head.

Seen any Sri Lankan spiders in the area lately?

There has been a problem with Burmese Pythons in Florida lately. I’ve heard they like the taste of no-counts.

This won’t really help anyone, but it’s an interesting article on the unusual biology of the Lyme pathogen.

Family Jewels.

I feed those bastards to mynepenthes.

Ok, I know few mmpers care about this, but I just need a place to vent a little.

Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of my son’s death. I’m better each year, but, it’s still a trial.
We got the results of MIL’s chest CT yesterday. She has a thoracic aortic aneurysm. The won’t/can’t operate. She’s 89, has Parkinson’s and is overweight. She doesn’t want a surgery that has such a small chance of survivability.
Hubby and I understand and support her decision, but it doesn’t make the reality any easier. The doc says it’s “stable,” meaning it could blow tomorrow or months from now, but, it will blow out, and she will die a quick, but painful death.

I love her like my own mom. My mom’s been gone for years, and MIL has treated my like her own for 18 years.

My heart aches.

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this, but, I REALLY HATE HUMIDITY!!!

Had an okay day at work today, but in the afternoon I was a bit lonely, because I was the only one in the office. Just me and Tchaikovsky.

I should organize some music soon, but I don’t know if I’ll get it done today.

Hugs, chocolate, and other needed items to all as desired.

The new glasses are a definite improvement.

The prospect of triple-digit temperatures for roughly the next week is NOT an improvement. I was happier with rain! About my only consolation weather-wise is that I don’t live in Death Valley.

DH is trying to make sense out of UI paperwork. He got not only the previously mentioned letter about a phone interview regarding his application, but a continued claim form (we’ve not received any notice that he has an active claim), with the first week on the form being his last week of employment, and the second week on the form being the “waiting week” (CA makes the newly unemployed take an unpaid week before benefits start being paid).

Damn.

{{{{Nurse}}}}

My clinical experience with an aortic aneurysm did not have a happy ending, so I won’t share that story.

{{{picu}}} I’m sure no parent can ever “get over” the death of a child. So sorryabout your MIL. I can understand her point and just hope when the inevitable happens it is quick and as painless as possible.

Home from Evening Prayer over to the church house. ‘Twas nice as usual and the last one until August. Since July is a big vacation month we traditionally don’t have any type of mid-week activities although vacation bible school will happen durin’ July. Since I don’t do VBS I have no idea when.

Sari I second, third, fourth or however many down the line I am the idea of gettin’ that seen about just in case it is a tick or spider bite. I’m pretty sure it’s not a Sri Lankan Spider bite because I think they just outright eat their victims.

gotti that sucks but I can understand spineydoc wantin’ to be double sure.

I’s tahrd. Gonna go snoop facebook for a bit and then go beddy bye.

Nitey Nite Y’all!
