The I stayed up until midnight just to post this MMP

Irked. Delt with employees who whine more than the rioting children.

{{{{picu}}}} and we do care.

sari, get that checked out, stat!

Hope it’s nothing serios, gotti.

What does a Whiskeypalian pray for at that service, Swampy?
Jewish stuff is telling G-d how cool he is, and Please Don’t Forget About Us.
Praying for an ill person is to comfort the person and family; we don’t believe G-d makes tics on a notepad, and intervenes if enough folks ask him to.
Some folks say Kaddish for their dead family members. It is more or less a reaffirmation of belief in G-d despite the crap that happened.

I am afraid that you are correct.
I think I will make shields from jam lids for White Footed Mice, and get them some of those little swords that impale the olive on my martinis so they can fight Sri Lankan spiders. They will have to fight them in groups, but Mommy White Footed Mice can have up to forty babies a year, so that should not be a problem.

I dealt with rug rats from the day care in my building.

Fifty of the little bastards, having played in a sprinkler, standing about cluelessly in bathing suits, blocking the front door.

Believe me Bobbio, I have my own nightmare stories. I did adult cardiovascular surgical critical care before peds.

Thank you all for the supportive words.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply you are uncaring. I guess I was just thinking every family goes through this sort of thing at one time or another and while friends are as supportive as possible, we each have to deal with it on our own.

I know I’m not really being clear. Just believe me when I say I appreciate every one of you.

Long hawt day. Started at 8 and just got home. Put in three roof vent fans in the shop, wired them and am now moving 5400 cubic feet a minute of hot air
out of the shop. After that we worked on closing in the newly insulated walls, we are about 80% done. We have added about 1600 sq/ft of air conditioned space. PITA but well worth it.

That is all I have for ya’ need to eat, shower and chillax, beer is required.

Nuts Air rifles are legal in the UK right? Get one and go all Charles Bronson on their *^%$

Jim

Yeah, like there is a G-d damned thing we can so.
I hate this. We can admire each others hobbies, we can admire each others babies, we can laugh at each others jokes and puns, but there is not a G-d damn thing we can do about each others pain.

I am so very sorry.

Well, the Catholic evening Prayer from the Liturgy of The Hours is
opening versicle or (for morning prayer) the invitatory
a hymn, composed by the Church
two psalms, or parts of psalms with a scriptural canticle. At Morning Prayer, this consists of a psalm of praise, a canticle from the Old Testament, followed by another psalm. At Evening Prayer this consists of two psalms, or one psalm divided into two parts, and a scriptural canticle taken from the New Testament.
a short passage from scripture
a responsory, typically a verse of scripture, but sometimes liturgical poetry
a canticle taken from the Gospel of Luke: the Canticle of Zechariah (Benedictus) for morning prayer, and the Canticle of Mary (Magnificat) for evening prayer
intercessions, composed by the Church
the Lord’s Prayer
the concluding prayer, composed by the Church
a blessing given by the priest or deacon leading Morning or Evening Prayer, or in the absence of clergy and in individual recitation, a short concluding versicle.
dogbutler, practicing Catholic*

*I keep practicing, because I ain’t too good at it, yet.:wink:

picunurse: I thought I had read something about aneurysms being treated with stem cells, but it looks like it’s still experimental. I don’t know if there would be any clinical trials yet. In the process I found this site which doesn’t seem to have any academic credentials but they did have this article from the Mayo clinic which they characterize as “minimally invasive.” I’m sure I’m being a pain in the ass, but there’s always the chance something might be useful.

we’ve killed about 10 brown recluses since our home was sprayed 2 weeks ago. I am so freaked out I can’t sleep

Today would have been Dave’s 48th birthday.

His nieces and son and I are going to get together tonight to celebrate his life and the love that he shared with so many. I didn’t get to see him on his birthday last year because he had work and I had school. I know it sounds corny but at least that has changed, he’s with me all the time now. Happy birthday, my love.

Happy Thorsday!

I’m up too early again, talked to my friend, I wish she’d get a day job so we could talk at normal hours but she sleeps all day. Sah-son stays up all night so he can avoid the other people in this house. He’s got to get a job or go to school but I don’t feel like pushing him right now.

It’s a cloudy 71 degrees outside with a projected high of only 86. Lots cooler than yesterdays 95.

I got Chinese for dinner last night so it will be Chinese for breakfast, N.O.L., and dinner for the next few days. I always buy way too much, but since I like leftovers it works.

I hate doctors, hate hate hate them but I am considering going.

**Apes[/B ick! I had a brown recluse when the Sah-son was a toddler. I vacuumed it up. Once I had a wolf spider too, they are some scary spiders. My cat was batting at it and it was jumping at my cats face. I beat it to death with a yard stick and even then I felt like I was too close to it.
Then there was the time I was walking from my kitchen to the living room and saw a snake slithering across the floor. Freak out time!
Some things belong outside, two of those being spiders and snakes. And mice. And ants.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a hyooooooomid 71 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 91 and maybe afternoon evenin’ showers/tstorms/apocalypse. We shall see.

**{{{StickyBuns}}}

Apes ICK! Hope y’all have gotten all the little nasty boogers.

Flytrap what doggio described is pretty close to the Whiskypalian version. This is the Whiskypalian version of Evening Prayer. The version is Rite I because that’s just the one we use on Wednesday Evenin’s. Holy Communion is also a part of the service because YP likes to include it as part of Evening Prayer but it does not have to be. Anywho, for your readin’ enjoyment. Hmmm… looks like the link just goes to the BCP (Book of Common Prayer) on line. Click on the link for Daily Offices and then you can click on Evening Prayer Rite I if you are so inclined.

And now this…

I know she hasn’t wandered by lately but there it is just in case.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants food. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Blurf, y’all.

Happy birthday Soapy!

There is a mouse in my kitchen. I’ve been training it that the trap is where we get peanut butter crackers. When I’m on my last piece of cracker, the trap will be set. I’m forcing myself to keep to this schedule because the little monster was up on my counter last night and did not flush!

Keep enjoying your peanut butter cracker, you little bastard. Your days are numbered with single-digit numbers.

Happy Birthday Soapy!!!

Blurf. laundry tonight.

Happy Soapy Day!

I have a post-pub lack of sleep blurf. I’ve just had lunch so I think the best thing to do would be to head out for a stroll for half an hour. Looks nice outside, and yesterday I saw a couple of baby dragonflies just outside my building. Yup, definitely not the time to be staying in the office.

{{picu & Sitcky}}

Happy birthday, Soapy!!! The lack of pretty colors and giant letters does not mean I don’t care, it means I haven’t had coffee yet.

Today we have a “picnic lunch” at the office as some kind of employee appreciation bullshit. I like being appreciated, but I would rather it be with money or vacation time. The lunch starts at noon, and I usually take lunch at one–which means if I go and eat with everybody else, the afternoon will seem interminable I have not yet decided what to do. I guess it depends on where they ordered the food from.

{{{picu}}} - I hope your MIL doesn’t suffer.

{{{Sticky}}}

I talked to my mom the other day - my Uncle Mike is having to go to assisted living. He’s 91 and among his health issues is a heart problem. There’s no way he can continue to live in his big ol’ 3BR house all by himself, and his daughters live too far away to tend to him daily. He’s the last living relative of that generation on my dad’s side - he was married to the youngest of my dad’s sisters. She died 20 years ago after a lifelong addiction to cigarettes.

It’s weird to think about a generation being gone. That puts my generation next in line… I’ve already lost one cousin, tho she wasn’t exactly a robust picture of health thru her adult life anyway. But my oldest cousins are in their 70s and the youngest is in her 40s. Dang - where did the years go??

OK, enough wallowing in morose thoughts.

**FCD **has left for his adventure in Roanoke. In fact, they should be leaving the dealership as I write this. Depending upon which scenic route they take, it should be under 250 miles total. I expect he’ll call mid-afternoon to let me know they arrived. Meanwhile, I’ll worry a while.

The main reason he’s going is to ride the Back of the Dragon - a twisty, turn-y stretch of road thru the mountains of western Virginia. I’m glad he’s doing it in a group rather than alone.

Consequently, I’m without adult supervision till Saturday. I will clean the carpets since they’ll have a better chance to dry un-trod-upon while he’s gone. Other than that, I’m going to let my back rest for a few days.

Happy Soapy Day!!! Don’t forget about us!

Time to read the comics - late start today, so much to catch up on.

Happy Thursday!
