So you’re wasting time, browsing the net, and then, you see it. It’s the stuff of your dreams, the gizmo you’ve been waiting for. Maybe it’s a combination toenail clipper/joy buzzer, a platinum hat-rack, a life-sized rubber statue of Harrison Ford, or a brain implant that connects you to the Straight Dope via telepathy. It might be weird, expensive, impractical, silly, frivolous, ugly, or all of the above. But darn it, you want it.
What (real) must-have items have you come across that you’re probably not going to get, but want to?
Mine’s fairly tame- I was looking up cat figurines, when I came across this guy.
I’ve always wanted the “Video Glasses”. The ones have have the video & audio RCA plugs. The ones I really want have the additional feature of a “pass-through” port that allows one to hook into an XBox/PS3/Wii/etc and allows you to connect a second pair of vid-glasses to the first. It is supposed to present the two-player split screen video as a single screen to each of the two players.
Did that make sense? One game-box, two-player game, each play is looking at his own view of the game.
One of these would be nice. Wildlife is always too far away and the light is always bad. But at $7600 and 12 pounds(!), I’d have to be a professional photographer to justify it.
It was this thingy, a toaster that also makes a poached egg (and has a tray to warm up ham/sausage/bacon using the steam off the egg) so it all finishes as the exact same time.
Then I realized I had a Macy’s gift card leftover from the wedding presents AND it was on sale…
OMFG it is made of pure awesome!! Even my husband, while making fun of me for my love of appliances, admits it’s pretty cool.
No, no. You don’t want one of those. They have a minor flaw of the wings pulling off. I was one of the last people to do aerobatics in them before the FAA put a stop to it. Not sure if that status has changed, but either way, if money is no object, I’d suggest an L-39!
Then, after getting some experience in that, move up to a MiG or a Sabre!
There’s a fix. Noogle & Black Aviation offers new, stronger wing spars and a rebuild to like-new condition for a mere 40 kilobucks. The linked aircraft doesn’t say if it’s had the repair, but it’s in the price range for a repaired aircraft. There’s a T-34A without the mod and with a 225 hp O-420) for about half the going rate.
I used to want an L-39, but… Nah. I just don’t have the desire for one. (Now an A-4 or a T-38… )
