The **I'm Sick and it Sucks Club**

This past week I’ve been coughing, my sinuses have been blocked up and I’ve been miserable. I just got off the phone with one of my SD friends and she’s sick too. It seems a lot of people are sick now or have been lately. My friends are sick, my boss, my dad, etc… So I’m starting a club for us sick people.

What do you have to do to be a member of my exclusive club??!

Easy. Get sick, or be sick.

All members of the I’m Sick and it Sucks Club get a free bottle of “virtual” Nyquil and a big box of kleenex. <sniff> <sniff>

No Nyquil for me, thanks. Got anything for an upset stomach?

I’ve been queasy all day, and in the bathroom a lot. Not throwing up–the other thing, you know?

My husband had this thing on Friday. My son was throwing up on Tuesday. My stepson, his older sister, and my own stepmother are throwing up today. A friend at work was sick Saturday, her SO was sick friday, and their son was sick Monday.

There’s something going around, I’m tellin’ ya.

With all the stuffiness in my head, I wandered through Tuesday and Wednesday like a zombie. I only feel kind of yucky today, so I’m hoping I’m on the upswing.

The day after Xmas I came down with a migraine. I get 'em all the time, so it wasn’t a big deal. Usually once I get some sleep, they go away. This one didn’t. It was worse the next day. Intense, throbbing pain in my left temple almost continuously. I couldn’t eat anything, or it would come right back up. I couldn’t even drink water. By the evening, every time I moved, massive waves of nausea hit, and the pain was excuciating. I finally called a friend to take me to the ER. Got there around 10. The pain was so bad I had tremors. They took their time with the meds, of course. First I got an IV since I was dehydrated, with some kind of wimpy pain reliever. Didn’t do a thing. Finally, some Demerol. It hurt so much going into the IV I wondered if the IV was hooked up right. But then it kicked in. The pain was still there, but I didn’t care. After a while, I got some more Demerol. Got home just before 2 and went to bed. This morning, though much better, I still had a migraine. But I could eat some soup and drink water, at least. Took a couple of Darvocet in the afternoon, and the migraine’s finally gone - now I just have migraine hangover.

It has not been a fun week. :frowning:

My 9-year old son spent most of Christmas day sleeping, when he wasn’t barfing. :frowning: We went to Chicago to visit family, and he had been looking forward to seeing his grandparents for months. On the way home, I came down with the stomach flu. I spent all 600 miles trying not to puke in the car. When we got home, I nearly yakked all over the front porch, as hubby turned the key in the lock.
What a loooooooooooooooong trip!
About ten days ago, I finally was able to get an influenza vaccine shot. There wasn’t enough serum available to get one any earlier. It takes at least two weeks for the vaccine to offer any protection. Too late. I’ve got the flu now. It’s running rampant in our town.Fever, chills, sore throat…etc. I hope that the vaccine will at least shorten the duration and severity of it. I’m in a high risk group because I have chronic athsma.
Can I join the club? Can I? Can I?
I was going to start a sickie thread of my own, then I saw yours. I can’t talk right now, so I’ll be on the boards a lot. It’s a good thing we can’t transmit * this* effing virus via the internet.
I’ll take some of that Nyquil, please. I might as well get loopy. I need an excuse for posting all these smilies.

::tosses Persephone the phenegren::

I just got over being ill. A whole damn week down the drain. I’m still congested.

comforting hugs to all those in this thread

I have had a couh so bad that it has started a gag reflex when I cough too hard. I have been sick for two weeks. -sniff-

Thanks, Mauvaise, but what’s phenegren?

I must have some sort of flu or something. Besides being in the bathroom for most of the day, whenever I belch, it tastes really ucky. Like eggs.

(Oh sorry, was that TMI?)

It’s an anti-nausea/anti-emetic (?sp). Good stuff when your tummy’s upset.

I have an ear infection in my right ear, bronchitis, and a sinus infection. I’ve been sick like this for a week, and went on Zithromax yesterday. No difference today, I’m hoping tomorrow’s better.

guzzles the virtual NyQuil

I’m not sick, but I do love Nyquil. It works like a charm.
I won’t join your club but I hope all of you guys feel better. ~Lisa

Sinus head here, day six. Two sickly toddlers with productive activity at both ends, not getting much rest.

Discovered spouse’s small stash of ‘cold formula Alka Seltzer’, which brought relief. (Haven’t had a decongestant in about 4 years due to baby production or nursing, so it was a quick high, too.) Went to the store to replenish the supply, and the goods have been recalled. CFAS contained PPA, which was pulled because it was giving dieters heart problems, IIRC. Pity.

I have been home the last three days witht he worst flu of my life. I was certain I was dying. Last night I had a temp of 102.5, and was about to go to the ER. I decided to lay down a bit, because when I moved I got nauseaus. I ended up falling asleep, and slept all night. Today I feel much better, and have no fever. The only thing that bothers me now are all the muscles I pulled in my gut from puking my brains out.
Feel better folks.
Rose

I have been home with a fever, stuffy head and a nasty cough all week. :frowning: I have been in great spirits, just not in any physical condition to take advantage of that.

It sucks, but it will pass! Hope everyone’s feeling better soon!

[sub]takes a shot of nyquil, uses 3 kleenex HONK ouch! tucks the box under his arm and curls up for a nap[/sub]

~¿~ ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz…

Ooh, ooh, me!! I woke up 2 days ago with little red bumps covering my face. After sobbing to my mom, I called out sick to work, thinking I shouldn’t deal with food if it should happen to be contagious. My mom seems to think it’s an allergy. I’ve had a really awful cough for the last few weeks, the kind where my throat’s completely bare from hacking so much. It’s starting to bring up blood. Not a good sign. Today, I woke up with a runny nose. Constant sniffling, raw nose, the works. As the lady at the bank so bluntly put it, “you look like shit!” Ah well, maybe some good Florida air will fix me right up!

Pammipoo,
Have you seen a doctor? Perhaps you should.
I hope everyone’s feeling better today. I have a 101 degree fever, but don’t feel as bad as I did yesterday. I’m just gonna hang out here some more and suck up the fluids till I get over this crud.
Now my six-month-old son has it. He’s happiest in my lap when he doesn’t feel well, so he’s “helping” me post.

Got more Nyquil? <hiccup>

I’ve had the stuffed head/sinus thing for about 2 weeks now. I start to feel better and then I get worse. I finally called the doc for a prescription and he gave me an antibiotic and a prescription for “Allegra”. I took one of the “Allegra” yesterday and it made me feel better right away, then I got really light headed and jittery and then I got sick. Yuck. I’m going back to Nyquil.

I’m dealing with some sniffles, clogged sinuses and a headache. Not terrible, but no picnic either.

The first rule of Sick Club is DO NOT TALK ABOUT SICK CLUB.

Ugh, I had a coughing fit when I woke up this morning. Really sucked. :frowning: I’m still all congested and not much better.

The second rule of the sick club is DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE SICK CLUB!

I’m sick - In the head. I have BPD. Depression, suicidal ideation, uncontrollable urges to hurt myself. My meds make me ill. I’m nauseous 24/7. Insomnia from hell.

I got a break from it all around Thanksgiving. I got that really nasty flu everyone else seems to just now be getting. I picked it up on a trip to Boston, so all of you on the West Coast just now getting it can pretty much blame me. I was so miserable for almost 2 weeks that I forgot all about my head during that time.

The only good thing about it was that I sucessfully gave it to oldscratch. He just flew out to Providence, RI. I’m sure that it mutated while I had it, so all you on the East Coast who had it in November will probably get it again.

Hey, I’m doing my part for the second of the Four Horsemen.

BTW, anyone in the Boston area should depart town Jan 28th - 31st. I’ll be baaaaackk…
