Survived meeting. new upper boss is a PHB, and used to manage DM. I guess my chain of command is now a Russian nesting doll of idiots.:smack:

Congrats on the boobies, Paula!!!(I used to know what breasts looked like, but now I have a mammary problem)
1st 3 rounds are on CatDude!
Oh,
[Epic Snoopy Dance]My season tickets are here!!![/ESD]
I guess there will be an Alot of hockey in my future. Maybe I should draw that.
Sleepy-bye cocktail is kicking in so I can feel my neck hurting but it’s not bothering me as much as usual.
What is it about x-ray contrast that makes it feel so weird? Years back, I had some for a CT scan, and I felt it climbing up my arm from the IV in the back of my hand, pausing at the shoulder, then flooding my torso with tingly coolness, then dizziness, then nausea. urp.
The proecdure yesterday also involved contrst but it was injected directy to the spinal cord. Guess technically, it was into the thecal sac and/or dura, rather than the nerves themselves. Felt like a tingly embrace from within as it shot down both arms and I guess it’s what hugging a tesla coil might feel like if it wasn’t apt to kill you.
hmm. cn’t feel fingertips hitting keys anymore. Probably good time to stop.
Nava, thank you for starting that thread. It’s somewhat comforting to read that so many others have the same issues I do. I no longer feel like I’m alone in this dilemma.
You’re welcome, rosie; hopefully as people become more aware of the level and complexity of the issues disabled people face “just” moving around things will go on getting better.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 degrees Amurrkin out and feels nice! Today’s predicted high is 94 and then a cool down is on the way. I mean a high of only 83 on Sattidy!
I took some chikin boobs and laigs out of da freezer last night so they can thaw in the fridge over the next couple of days. I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some good ol’ fried chikin. Thus, Sattidy I shall fry chikin. I don’t do that often cause to do it right takes time, IMHO. Tonight’s dindin shall be smoked poke chops, steamed broccoli and whichever Uncle Ben’s [sup]TM[/sup] rice thingy I decide on. Maybe the N.O.H. one cause it’s always good.
gotti hope the sleepy bye meds worked for ya. I’ve never had stuff done to my spinal cord but what you described is exactly what other people have always said happens. But, good meds, so there is that.
I’ve been readin’ that thread too Nava. It’s one of those makes ya think threads which I guess is good to do sometimes.
Ok, now I go in search of more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Got the funeral suit out last night. A nice, tasteful basic black suit. I hadn’t worn it in a while and, surprise, it still fits rather nicely!
I hate Spanish banks almost as much as I hate American medical insurers, which is a lot.
They’re organized in such a way that if I need anything I can’t do at the ATM I have to go to “my” office. Right now I need a “guarantee of funds” for a certain amount so I can rent that little flat I picked; I have 5x that amount in the equivalent of my checking account, I’ve always paid everything on time. But I have to go in person to “my” office (bringing them information which they already have, such as my VAT paperwork… I pay my VAT through them!), then go in person to a Notary, and with delays and one thing and another that would mean a whole week off work. This is just fucked up.
Congrats, CatDude!! Glad it’s come together the way you wanted! Plus 2 more weeks of vacation, huh?
**gotti **- your comments scare me. **FCD **is going in for a steroid shot in the lower spine, even tho it’s never helped him in the past. I’m seeing back surgery #5 in our very near future.
doggio, it sounds like you need you a SugarMama so you can run away from that whole employment nuthouse. Not that I’m volunteering, mind you…
Hey, Pearl!
Dang, Nava, that really does stink. I’ve been amazed that here, some bank branches are now open on Sunday! Quite a change from the 10-2 hours they had when I was a kid. I never did understand that…
Class today. If my 3 pieces dried enough, I need to trim the bottoms, then set them on the shelf to dry. If they’re not dry enough, dunno what I’ll do - throw some more, I guess. Cool today, cooler tomorrow. If it doesn’t rain, I’ll mow when I get home. And I need to remember to run by the store for a box of crackers. I should write myself a note.
What I really want to do is go back to bed. But what I’ll do is make some sort of breakfast, then shower and get ready to drive to La Plata. And for the amusement of non-locals, that’s pronounced luh PLAY-tuh - Merrylanders of days of yore liked taking names of Spanish origin without the cumbersome pronounciations. Now it’s ingrained, do it won’t change. Same with a church in Baltimore, St. Rose of LIME-uh, not LEE-ma. Stay classy…
The first one involved a semi-feral cat that insisted on chewing on my toes whenever I tried to get in my car. The second was several hundred topless wimmin holding a protest like the one Spaz avoided a couple weeks ago inside an apartment I was renting. The really strange part was that I was very POed they chose to hold the protest in my flat, instead of grooving on the scenery.
Good morning! Not so blurfy today. I think I might have actually slept for five hours in a row! If not, I don’t remember waking up.
When I left the house to come to irk, I could smell the burnt park. It flared up a little bit again yesterday. The mayor is about to pass an ordinance for no smoking in city parks. this fire was most likely started from a carelessly thrown cigarette butt.
Mr Rebo (the truckdriver) drove through Bastrop, Texas yesterday where 25,000 acres burned, and 600 homes were lost. He got some video of it. He said it’s just devastating.
We have a very small chance of rain on Sunday. At least the temps are coming down again - highs in the mid 90’s.
We stay at the Hill Country Hyatt just outside Bastrop once or twice a season. I haven’t checked yet to see what’s happened to it but they’re sure surrounded by rough, cedar-filled terrain. Even passing through on the way to Austin or Fredericksburg though is going to be heartbreaking.
We sure could smell the GW Bush Park the other night and once again the particulate made for a crimson sunset.
The cardiologist gave me a clean bill of health yesterday. My sister just had surgery and they worried her siblings might be similarly affected. Guess not. He said it was okay if I had sects, although why he thought I’d be interested in that I have no idea.
swampy, do you have a recipe (receipt) for the pimento cheese? Nothng better than cheese sammiches and chips. Chips are my fave fud.
Played with my horse last night and made him walk over poles to start building up his weak leg. Then brushed him and gave him carrots. I stayed exact to my Weight Watchers plan yesterday. W00T. One day down, the rest of my life to go. That makes me feel blurfy.

Which was the scary part? That the clinic was playing Heaven 17 music or the “hug a tesla coil” sensation of the contrast medium?
I think there’s a bit of a conspiracy with the insurance companies and the injection people. The epidural cortisone I had about three years ago) turned out to be just a placeholder roadblock between me and the OR. After I’d had it done, the doc actually said something like “Didn’t do any good, did it?” as if he expected it would not be useful, checked it off the pre-op qualification list, then we started to discuss when to have the diskectomy. You know it’s bad when the surgeon asks “How’s next Wednesday for you?”
I’ve got slightly better hopes for the lumbar nerve block that’s scheduled for the end of the month. The plan is that it will turn off the L5-S1 nerves that have been stuck in “OW!” mode even though they’re no longer being crushed or pinched. They just haven’t figured this out on their own yet. Stoopid nurvs!
Having seen the MRIs and Xrays of my neck though… it won’t surprise me one bit if they suggest a disk replacement up there. Maybe that will at least cut down on all the grinding noises when I turn my head. If they do need to do anything wild like that, I just want it done by year-end so I don’t have to pay for it - we’re already quite close to our annual out-of-pocket maximum.
Actually the dull boring kind with mud and stink and all but I did have my keppe on. We had a wedding up there Saturday near Hawley. All the kinfolk got away fine but the Best Man lives in West Pittston. He sort of joked about being glad for the wedding since he really didn’t have any place else to go -------- or other clothes for that matter. Some of us got to talking and we just sort of ganged him Sunday and Monday and put things back together for him - at least back to about 80% or so. Moved from there down to Knoebels and gave them a day of bleaching things out. I’m a vet of Agnes in 72 - lived in Forty Fort right across from where the levee broke behind the cemetery so I know how to use bleach pretty well
(Also being a veteran of Agnes, I now live 218 feet above flood stage on a different river. If I ever have to worry again, arks are going to be involved )
Charles’s funeral was a very nice, very moving tribute. Fr. Bullion (retired Priest from St. Patrick’s) delivered a wonderful Homily. The Shamrock’s (the barbershop quartet Charles founded) performed an arrangement of “It Is Well With My Soul”, actually arranged by Charles a few months back. Also there were a couple of nice tributes by people who knew him well. We sang “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and “Be Thou My Vision” and the pianist played a really stirring rendition of “God The Omnipotent”. Those were some of his favorite hymns. Also, at the end of the service as Charles was being borne from the church the Shamrocks sang “May The Road Rise To Meet You.” It got a little dusty in the church at that time.
I’ve had my turkey and pepperjack cheese sammich so now I should get back to irk.
