Sigh. We had some sort of freak wind in the back yard tonight that smashed our patio table. The umbrella was in the table, so we guess a wind caught it just right and the tempered glass went “boom.”
Now the mystery is if we can get new glass or if it’s better to just toss the frame and get a new table next year.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 65 Amurrkin out and niiiiiiiice! Today’s predicted high is 94 but tomorrow’s is only 83.
gotti I’d go for gettin’ a new table. Should be some sales on now or soonish as places want to get rid of Summery type stuff. I had a glass top table shatter like that once. I was standin’ next to it. This is a thing one does not want to be standin’ next to when it happens.
mmmmmm’s I second pizza.
I clean but I don’t alphabetize spices. I’m all devil may care with my spice cabinet.
Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, gropes, noogies, how you doin’s as needed.
Now I need ore caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. At least it’s Firday!
It’s a frosty 47°F at FairyChatEstates this morning. Gooooooood sleeping weather. Too bad i’m awake. On the other hand, being awake means enjoying leftover quiche for breakfast. Oh, how love thatquiche recipe - it’s so easy to modify, and it always comes out perfect!
Since it’s going to be a cool and beautiful day here today, I’m going to mow the yard and make a run to the trash/recycling center. I may do some other yard work - depends on how much energy I have and how much I care. I also have to salt and mix a batch of water. Our new sterilizer came and we’re going to install it tomorrow. That involves draining and removing the sump, which we’ll combine with a water change.
Speaking of weird dreams, mine last night involved my mom hosting a big party (nothing weird about that) to which she invited Stephen Colbert (I doubt that she knows who he is.) He showed up in no shirt, sporting a mullet (the haircut, not the fish.) And he was a real jerk to everyone - even more obnoxious than his character.
Mom’s house (which looks nothing like her actual house) was located on a waterfront lot, much like the place we had on the lake in Florida. In the yard next door were several HUGE constrictor-type snakes - I’m talking 30’ long and a foot around. And in a tree near the water in the yard (pretty much the sycamore that was in our old yard) there were tons of lizards. Oh, and I was naked in the entire dream, and no one seemed to notice or care. And no, wasn’t drinking last night.
I don’t alphabetize my spices - they live according to how often they’re used, or how tall the container is so I can find it easily. Since I’m the only one in the house who cooks, it works out fine. The salt and pepper are right up front where **FCD **can find 'em easily. The rest he doesn’t care about.
**mmmmmmmmm **- pizza sounds good to me. And a hot fudge sundae. And some cashews.
swampy, do you get ore caffeine from mined coffee beans??
I don’t think I’d ever be able to alphabetize either spices, records or books. My sal de ajo is right next to my ajo picado, my pimienta and my pimentón are right next to my cayena. As for books and records, they get classified by subject, size and, those which are from a series by order within the series; records from the same artist are in chronological order.
Now that I think about it, having similar spices together is akin to how we were taught to order things in chemical labs: by type, not alphabetical order.
My spices aren’t alphabetized either. I have two lazy susans in my spice cabinet, and they are placed on them as to how often they’re used. See?
Ahh, Firday. My project is finished for the moment, and I get to surf all day and not stress out. Plus all the loud people are off today. And I get to leave early! Yay!
I plan on defrosting my little fridge/freezer over the weekend, since I hardly have anything in it. What few yogurts and stuff I have I’ll put in the community [del]germ incubator[/del] fridge until Monday.
I love my spice cabinet. It’s one of those pull out cabinets like Alton Brown has. Not alphabetized (really, people do that? I feel inadequate. Again), but I love it.
Went to DDS to get impression for temp crown. No one warned me that Novocaine and drilling (well shaping) would be involved. Not pleased and I’m sore today.
HEE! Soapy. I saw DDS in your post and thought, they do dental work there too??? DDS (Department of Driver Services) is Jawjan for what most of the rest of the world calls DMV.
Another devil-may-care spice stasher here. Most of our herbs and spices live on two two-level lazy jennifers* and we just give them a twirl to find what we want.
Yes, it’s a dangerous kitchen when the cinnamon is next to the oregano, but I haven’t made cinnamon-flavored lasagna yet.
It’s unfair that all of the Susans of the world are eternally branded as lazy. I’m sure women with other names can be equally lazy, so let’s spread the pain a bit.
Well, enough goofing off for me. I did manage to get dressed, and I guess I may as well get the grass cut, since the yard work fairy blew me off again, the bitch. Then to the convenience center. Then I can knit in peace.
I am doin’ front desk duty until noon. Right now all the lines are busy. I think whoever’s talkin’ should keep on until noon so I don’t have to answer the phone.
My spices and dried herbs are organized sort of by color and use. Sweet or baking stuff is sort of lumped together, and savory stuff is lumped together. I have far too many and need to cull them. They’re set up on two lazy susans. One big one in the way back corner on my counter and one in a cupboard by the stove. Plus, I have some in the pantry on the shelf. See what I mean about needing to cull them. I’m sure some are far too old and need to be tossed.
Today is my husband’s birthday. I need to make a couple of stops after work and then I can home celebrate his day with him. I don’t know what he wants to do. He’s usually pretty tired by Fridays, but we’ll do whatever he wants.
I suppose I should dig into my work stuff. So far, I’m the only one here in my little branch, and I’m enjoying the quiet and solitude.
I’m taking a moment during my lunch to pop in. I actually ate something for lunch for a change. I had a craving for meat, so I grabbed some salami, cheese & crackers.
Later this afternoon, I’ll be headed out to grab cleaning supplies to get the bathroom in shape for the plumber tomorrow. I really should just get a sandblaster instead.
Today’s going to be annoying. I have to drive up to my friend’s work to pick up my water bottle and earplugs I left at his place last weekend, stop at the grocery store because when I told mom to get vegetables for soup (udon) she bought carrots and bean sprouts (?!), and make dinner. At least dinner shouldn’t take too long.
I gave the night sleeping thing one more try and it WORKED!! I took a full dose of sleeping pills and went to bed at 3am. I just got up at 11:10 and I feel awesome. The headache I’ve had for over a week is finally gone and my eyes are (literally) wide open. I feel energized and motivated to do the school work I’ve been avoiding all weekend. I’d love to sit on my porch in the sun and work but neither of my porches ever get direct sunlight.
I think the full dose of pills helped but I think the weather is more responsible. While doing dishes last night, I noticed a glorious cool breeze coming in the windows so i opened up the entire house. By the time my sweetie got home from work at 9:30, the house was 60° and refreshing. When I woke up a few minutes ago, the first thing I noticed was the fresh smell and the bracing 56°. It feels GOOOOOOOOD!!! Yay for FALL!!! :D:D:D
Welp, my sweetie has to work a UConn football game today so he wont be home until very late so dinner will be whatever I feel like - probably PB&J. I suppose I need to go feed the psychodogs and then get to work on my school work. Lots to read today. I have 4 chapter 2’s to read before I can start writing.
That was awesome! You sing well and I like the song. It must be great being able to make people laugh like that.
Have a splendid day everyone!
