So, a funny thing happened to me this week…
Monday night, I got all ready for bed, stepped out of the bathroom and… right onto a dog toy. My foot went that-a-way, and my leg went this-a-way. There was a “snap” and my ankle sort of did a flop thing. Pretty much an NFL highlight reel moment. One ambulance ride and several hours later the ER doc confirmed that I had a broken ankle.
So surgery tomorrow, 12 weeks in a cast, metal plate, screws, up to a year to recover, cats and dogs living together (oh wait, that’s how this started). And somehow, according to my pre-surgical ECG, I’ve had a massive heart attack in the last 2 months without noticing. I’m hoping that was an error in the test. Just wahhhhhhh!
Gotti Glad the Green Monster is gone!
Sunny,
Glad you’re gonna be OK, though.
Certain shades of green go well with lavender . . .
I had the worstest insomnia last night. So why am I still up tonight? Shouldn’t I have crashed shortly after work?
Not if you’re overtired.
Holy crap, sunny!!! You’ve actually lived one of my nightmares, altho mine involves tripping over the actual animals, not just their toys. Get better safely!!!
**gotti **- glad to hear all went well. May your recovery be as uneventful as mine was, meaning totally!
**sari **- have you ever had a normal, boring day in your life? Dang, woman!!
It’s still raining and it’s supposed to rain all day. We might see sun tomorrow, which would be nice for a change. Today’s big cleaning adventure involves both bathrooms. So that should be fun, right?
I’m not going to shower till it’s done - that way I can clean the shower and myself at the same time.
Beyond that, no plans. Maybe run the dishwasher. It’s all a crapshoot!
Happy Thursday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 and alleged rain. We shall see.
gotti glad the gallbladder yankin’ went well. Here’s hopin’ for a speedy recovery!
{{{Sunny}}} dang! Hope all is better soonest.
Sari sorry about all the phone woes. Hope it’s all ok soonest and whoever did it does rot in jail.
Today is irk from home day. YAY! I shall spend a fairly large part of it “on-line learnin’” as I am woefully behind in that cause, well, usual irk stuff keeps gettin’ in the way, hence, the irk from home day. So my commute is to, well, where I am right now.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeien and to feed rumbly tummy. I shall also purtify. One must purtify even if one intends to go nowhere. I think it’s a rule.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Blurf.
I’m sitting at the laundrymat around the corner, the dryer having finally conked out. Airman thinks he can fix it, and he’s usually right, but he hasn’t had the time to do so. So I’ve spent early mornings at the laundrymat to wash and dry our clothing. Fun times.
The really big project that made me disappear for a while is finally over. I had to spend a few minutes on some final emails, but it’s really and truly over. Of course, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I signed up to do this again next year.
Irk is still going well. I got to do a lot of OT the past month or so, making for some nice paychecks for the next few cycles.
Other than that, nuffin new to report.
Up, caffeinated, off to work. Raining again today.
Two words: Christmas cake! ![]()
Bobbio, can I, uhhh, borrow, yeah, yeah, borrow your [del]coasters[/del] CD’s when you leave?
Do we need to rename this to the HWP - Horsepistol Ward Post? ![]()
Happy Thorsday!
It’s cloudy and cool.
It’s also go to armpit day. I realized if we go tomorrow I’ll be cutting it too close. I have to irk until 10:30 and my dr appt is at 1.
Dayum Sunny! Glad you are okay.
FCM I live for normal boring days.
The phone stuff has been handed over to the fraud department so I can forget about that for a bit. It can take up to 10 business days to get back to me.
I have to take pics of my caller id of all the calls from collection agencies and send that off to the lawyer. Supposed to have been done yesterday. I also have to get a list of the numbers I’ve blocked.
I suppose I should apologize to OAOASO for jumping all over his ass yesterday. He’s pretty pissed at me, not that I really give a fuck.
I am busy “on-line learnin’” Ok, I’m sorta readin’ along (turned off the annoyin’ talkin’) and takin’ a stab at questions, then goin’ back to see what I got wrong so I can answer the questions right. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!
Prepare to be impressed. Not only did I clean both bathrooms, but I scrubbed the floors on my hands and knees!!! Just like our ancestors!
Then I showered, so I’m clean, too. Whew, I hate that chore, almost as much as dusting!
**swampy **- that’s the way I used to do on-line training also. Most of it was so idiotically obvious that I could get away with it easily. I definitely don’t miss that part of work.
My bosses (DoD) are on us to finish up our annual on-line training by July; doesn’t matter that we have until 30 September to get it done, having those 100% completions give them bragging rights..or something.
But they haven’t got any better since you retired, FCM.
I think I am going to do it. I am going to take a substantial (as in, more than I paid for my house) amount of Mutual funds and savings and open an Annunity for my retirement. Besides being the biggest investment I have ever done, it is also a declaration that retirement is coming and money i have been saving for decades is now going to be committed to that end.
I find it both exiciting and a little bit terrifying.
And I still have my &(*^%^&% lawn to mow…(/nonsequiter)
Metal Mouse, you will continue to have the lawn to mow. Stoopit grass and/or weeds don’t care if you’re retired or not. Mine is too high now, but it’s still raining and far too soggy to attempt mowage. I’m inclined to declare that my entire yard is a nature preserve and just quit bothering with it!
Just made a run to Food Lion for some N.O.T.s - I’ve thawed a corned beef flat and I’m going to roast it with carrots, onions, and the N.O.T.s cut in chunks. Yummy supper in store. But first, I’m finishing the last of the leftover sketties. Yum.
{{{sunny}}} Do we get to sign your cast?
The service engine light came on in the truck again. This time, I couldn’t even get the heater to kick in this morning. I scheduled a new thermostat for tomorrow afternoon. There goes the money for a weekend trip.
I’ve got the corned beef and veggies cooking away in the oven, the dishwasher has finished its run, and I paid a few medical bills that required checks. They need to get with the 21st century and have on-line payments! I not only had to dig out the checkbook, but I had to find the return address stickers and some stamps!
It’s so hard to be me!!!
What with “on-line learnin’”, calls from the PTB, and checkin’ up on participants to see who has done what with the “on-line trainin’” and preparin’ a semi-nasty memo to the ones who have not accessed “on-line trainin’” in the past sixty days, I have been a somewhat bzzy bear. Plus also, I have turned last night’s leftover Eye-talian chikin into an enchilada casserole. Thus dindin shall be Mexican/Eye-talian fusion cookin’.
It is pouring down hard here! And it’s only in the low 60s out, so the damp and chill really reaches deep into your bones. brrrrr!
I need to crawl under and afghan, or maybe change from shorts to long pants. I miss the sun.
