Since the FTA went through, Aus Post have been really mental-nasty about trying to send biscuits/sweets through the mail to the US. My mum tries to do it on a regular basis, because she’s got some friends over there that she hooks up with the Tim Tam lovin’, and the last couple of times she’s had to visit a couple of different Post offices in order to get them accepted in the package. Just so you’re aware.
If those who are interested could send me an e-mail with their country, that would be great (e-mail in profile). I’ll give people a week or two to notice the thread if they want to participate before I start matching people up.
I must have missed this part… I would be most delited to get Mint Aeros, Flakes, Crunchies, Blackcurrant Liquorice drops, Clove drops.
I wish we could do another exchange for regular groceries. We’re down to our last canister of Bisto granules! The world may end!
Seriously, hook me up with a Brit- The Scotsman can advise me on what to ship over.
On preview: I’ll send you another email, Ultraviolet. This is going to be so cool!
Buh. Got distracted with a call during my other post, didn’t finish it.
I’ll bite. I’ll do trades with US and UK peoples, if anyone wants anything. Hubby’s from the UK, and is really pining for some real jaffa cakes. You just can’t get them over here.
Oh man, I just finished my last Kex.
I’m interested, and you don’t even have to match me with Low Key. ( :smack: I just now got your user name!)
I will drop an email shortly.
I’ll give it a shot. Chocolates preferred, though if Regal Crown Sour Lemons still exist (and they may not), I’d love that.
USA
I’m in. I’ll eat anything you crazy kids send me! Unless it’s licorice…if you send me licorice you can burn in Hell for all time.
Anways, I’m in the US, the northeast US to boot, so I have access to the beloved, the perfect, the melt in your mouth treat known as maple candy. There might also be other stuff I can get that’s unique to the north east, but I probably don’t know it’s unique to the north east, cause I’ve been here my whole life and wouldn’t know it can’t be got elsewhere.
Ohh, I jsut thought of something I think is a New England/North East US thing…Necco Wafers. Do you know what I’m talking about? And can they be got elsewhere? And, the important part here, does anyone actually like them?
You can get them anywhere in the US that I’ve ever been (SE, Miidwest, California). British people have never heard of them, nor their chatty cousin, the Conversation Heart.
I like em fine, in a gross, chalky kind of way.
OK, so they are still find to send overseas, then.
And yeah, I will eat them if they are around, but I’m not going to go out and buy them…I mean, aterall, they’re made from bone meal and earwig honey.

earwig honey?1111!!!1111
For whoever gets me, I like all kinds of sweets. I exchanged candy with washte (who appears to have left us, btw) a few years ago, and loved the fruit flavors available in Britain. I also am fascinated with children’s breakfast cereals not available in the US. Send me an email if you want more details.
Really?
My mother recently sent me a package from Australia filled with Snakes, Red Frogs, Fruit Tingles, Redskins, Cherry Ripes, Violet Crumbles, and Cadbury Fruit and Nut. She made no mention of any trouble sending it. She does live in a country town, though, and knows quite a few of the people in the post office.
By the way, all of my sweet-tooth American friends loved the Fruit Tingles.
I’d like to do it again!!
I exchanged with Anonymous Coward last time and it was very fun! He included a coin and a note which I didn’t think to include.
I’m in the USA.
Email sent. This will be a fun project to do with my nephew (9 years old). We’ll each pick some of our favorites to send. Then share what we get in exchange.
I don’t have any preferences, I’m open to anything. I like the funny names of the Australian sweets.
Count me in. Like Baker, I’ll try anything that isn’t banana flavored. Or strawberry-banana flavored. Or kiwi-banana flavored…you get the picture.
I’m in! I’m Australian. I’m not too fond of licorice or cherry flavoured sweets, but anything else is fair game.
Just FYI, i think it’s unlikely that any American would send licorice to an Australian. Half the licorice on sale in the United States seems to come from Australia in the first place.
Well, this is just the problem mum’s had in suburban Adelaide. I think it really depends who’s on the front counter on the day you try to send the things, but it’s happened more than once, so I think it’s something they’re going to be trying to crack down on. But I’m still going to join in anyway. Seems like a fun idea
