The international candy exchange

No rush, Sneezy. I’m happy to wait. Just glad to hear it sounds like yours arrived okay. I just hope the customs people haven’t left you with an empty box

Just a note for those sending to Australia… My package was held up in customs for a few days. They opened the package looking for contraband. Fruit, I think. Don’t want illegal fruit in Australia, apparently. Anywho, that might serve to delay shipment to AusDopers.

Sierra Indigo, I just got back from the Post Office! Cool! We (hubby and I) opened the box in the building! The first victim was the Turkish Delight. It was pretty good. The next to go is the Violet Crumble; I bit off a corner to see what it’s like, and I think I’m hooked! (I put it in the freezer for a few minutes, It’s hot here and it melted a little in the van. Thanks loads, and your box will be on it’s way soon! I looked in the store while we were out, and got some ideas! My husband wants to send you chips and salsa, but I told him the jar of salsa would probably break on the way!

I’m gonna go eat candy now. Before the kids get home from school! (kidding!)

I got my package yesterday! Thanks Hello Lady

Other than all the chocolate being melted, everything arrived nicely.

We’ve tried the fruit tingles, the macadamia nuts, the snifters and the tim tam bar. The Tim Tam is tantalyzingly familiar, but I can’t place where I’ve had this flavor before. Very tasty. I like the snifters, but A. disagrees.

The only thing you sent that I can get here is Werther’s, but they’re one of my favorite candies.

Woohoo! Thanks Waenara, I got my package yesterday! Yum! Looks like one of the post offices opened it to check for contraband and sliced open the Cheesies bag! I’ve even shared a bit with selected co-workers–they’re very happy and me too!

Yeah, I was worried that they’d open the package. I stuffed it pretty full (should have gotten a bigger envelope). I also just wrote “Misc Candy” on the customs declaration. Someone in DoHS probably has a sweet tooth. Glad to hear it held together to get to you.

Congratulations on a successful candy exchange! I got my package and my charge got hers … and they lived happily ever after or something.

Hey, anybody up for a Christmas candy exchange?

I am! I got in too late for this one. :frowning: I’m going to be more on the ball next time.

I’m in!

I had a feeling the chocolate wouldn’t make it. Hope it didn’t melt over all the other stuff. Really glad you got the package ok and you like the goodies.

I just got my package all the way from Sweden!

Imagine me opening the package:

“Ooh! What’s this? Race cars? Ooh! Ooh! Licorice ropes! Ooh!” (repeat until all items are examined)

I hope my partner gets his package soon! Yum! I am snacking on some assorted gummy things right now (including one, which seems to be covered with some sort of fizzing powder, that I like a lot).

One last bump to ask **jabiru ** in Australia, did you get the package I sent from Kansas? It’s been a while. Hope it wasn’t lost in the mail.

Another to ask Hello Lady if hers ever got there. Also to Australia from Kansas.

Gah! Sorry, I got it on Monday but haven’t had a chance to get on here to let you know FilmGeek!

The Nerds had broken free and were roaming the package and the Junior Mints (which I LOVE) were a little melted but everything else made the trip fine. Lots of yummy goodies. Haven’t tried too many of them yet because I’m eating too much sugar but I’m looking forward to it.
We get Wonka candy and Skittles and Mars products here but I don’t buy them often so they were a cool surprise. Some of the other peanutty type bars I had seen around (in specialist confectionary stores) but never bought them so we’ll have fun trying them. And I didn’t know there were sour lifesaver jube-things - surprises all round. Thanks for all the goodies. Hope you had fun shopping.

Hey Sierra Indigo! I didn’t forget about ya, I promise! I mailed you package off today, and it should be there in 6-10 days. (according to the nice man at the Post Office) I should have brought bribe candy with me, though, because he threatened to “sample” some!

I hope you like what I sent, but if you don’t like the marshmallow peanuts, I won’t cry, I sent those because they have been mentioned in a few candy threads.

Anyway, enjoy! I really enjoyed shopping for it!

I shall tell hubby, he’s been hanging out for some candy

I’m sure we’ll like whatever you’ve got in there. Between us we’re not too fussy

Candy came today, yay!

Customs opened it, but they put in a handy little flier saying they didn’t take noffin, honest!

It all looks so good  Some of it, like the skittles and snickers, we can get over here, but it’s still good. I haven’t had skittles in ages  And I’m looking forward to the junior mints.

I just wonder if I can hide it all from Mr. Indigo…

Whew! I was worried there for a minute. When they say 10 days, they really mean 10 days! You oughta share with Mr. Indigo, he can have the Pez dispenser! Enjoy!

Same here! I’ll join from Japan.

Hello Baker. Sorry to be so long in getting back to this thread but, as I mentioned in my email, I’ve been computerless for a few months and then, when I finally got back online, discovered my subscription to SDMB had expired.

Yes, the yummy comestibles arrived safe and sound and were eaten within days of their arrival. I think I told you my son managed to scoff most of the syrup on his pancakes. Perhaps I should have decanted it into another bottle labeled “100% Vegetable Puree” or some such. :dubious:
