I was crazy-busy Christmas with getting ready for arrival of Little Nell and her hubs, but I tried to get on that night to see how everyone was doing. It was weird, like looking out the window expecting to see a forest and finding a blank wall instead.

On Christmas Day, for the first time ever, I logged into Straight Dope on my iPad. You already know the rest of the story. 
Anyway, glad the Dope is back. Need to keep up with the cats.
Yeah it was very disappointing since I had nothing else to do on Christmas Day. There weren’t even any newspapers. I got Wednesday’s Times with Thursday’s. I guess the same thing will happen this week. But I will at least have the Dope.
In that Other Thread on this subject, it was suggested twice that the end may be nigh for the Dope. One of those posters wondered if we ought to make contingency plans for an alternate place to meet-up and re-group. The Board That Must Not Be Named was suggested as a possible place to do that.
Is it time to begin having that discussion?

I think that if a shutdown were to happen, we’d get some kind of advance notice. Many of us have been around a long time, we’ve established a community; and given such things, I don’t think the PTB would be so heartless to just pull the plug without telling us in advance.
Somebody’s gonna have to tell me what is The Board That Must Not Be Named.
