The Joys of Having Grass in the MMP

Still hoping City Mac finishes the data transfer to the new backup computer today. Otherwise no computer until Monday. Trying the iPhone…

Made a fish fry for dinner. Coleslaw on the side. Did a lot of sorting and tossing today (again).

Peace reigns again! Daughter’s whole tribe were here when we got back from Oxford. SIL’s car had to go in for service and he needed to borrow our truck. So they brought supper, I bought ice cream, and we had a nice visit, a nice meal, and a nice parting. They just left, so we can chill.

We got the first coat of zinc on the prop and skeg, and we’ll do a second coat on Sunday. We installed the bimini with a fair bit of cussing. The dock lines are onboard and ready for when we go in the water. The bottom should get painted this week. We’re supposed to go in the water on Apr 1, and we’ll bring it home on Apr 2. I’ll take FCD over on the 1st, and he’ll spend the night, getting everything ready. The next day, we’re hoping someone will babysit Toby (either SIL’s mom or a friend of theirs) so only 4 of us will drive to Oxford. Then SIL will bring my car back home. Long range forecast is for a really nice day - fingers crossed.

Tomorrow, I’ll make a run to WalMart for a few things we’ll need for the crossing. I’ll also feed my azaleas and do a few yard chores, plus there’s some laundry to be laundered. And who knows what else… too tired to think about it now.

I just need chillage.

Evening all. Rain stopped as scheduled around 11am, so went swimmin’ in the afternoon, got my 1,000 yards in along with whirlpool and sauna so that took a nice part of the afternoon. Got a new BCBS (Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance) card in the mail so have replaced the old one and also had my Cheeburger for dinner. Tomorrow may be soccer (cancelled for today) and the gym, we’ll see how it goes.

FCM, sounds like the boat is coming along, hope all the plans come together.

Oopsie, sitting quietly watching your dog have the zoomies is just about a perfect afternoon, isn’t it?

Butters, finding a car place you trust and like is very important in settling in; glad you hit it off the first time.

OK, haven’t worked the Firday puzzles yet, so need to get on that if I want to finish them before Sattiday. All y’all take care.

Ooof, just got back from the shop at 7 PM, having left the house at 8 AM. Got a lot done on the project, but still don’t have the information I need to complete it. I’ve been asking for details for months now. Like, I’m supposed to build a false front for the curved stage, but no one can tell me what the curve is. Or how big the openings on these TV enclosures need to be, or even what they look like. At this point I’m just going to make shit up.

But, it was a lovely day and I had the loading door open. I’s tired. I think it’ll be just two more weeks of 7 days in the shop, so yay?

Housework, laundry and grocery buying is complete. Nelson got a short romp at the dog park and the Captain fixed supper because of a gnawin’ and a cravin’. Now for playing in the studio.

I had a headache after work and had to take a nap.
I enjoy Gentleman Caller’s visits very much, but he is really interfering with my ability to get any sleep. Last night was worth it but I was really payin’ for it today.

Anyway, I feel human again and am heating up some chicken nuggets for dinner. Currently snacking on a rice cake (butter delivery vehicle) and vanilla yogurt (mini M&M delivery vehicle) and contemplating some quality TV time.

metal mouse what happened to wake and bake and shake?

VanGo I’m sorry that the clients are being poopy-heads. I hope you get your info soon. In the meantime, did you eat? We worry. :worried:

shoe so long as you are enjoying GC’s visits, then a little lost sleep is a fair trade in my book. I was going to ask about butter delivery, but I figured it out, so yay me?

The bank, naturally, after getting through all of our paperwork, etc, etc, will not honor the rate lock sheet. I’m sure that’s not legal, but what am I going to do about it. Today I spent time with hubby and time with mortgage person, and then I took a nap. I think we have found a solution, but won’t know for sure until Monday. Sweet Maggie McGee, dealing with banks should involve hazard pay.

No idea about dinner. Kinda hoping the kid asks for pizza. Oh yeah, I got a box of food in the mail AKA Home Chef. I need to unpack it and put it away. My daughter and I have been cooking meals. I thought I’d give this another shot to see how it goes. They certainly have more menu variation than I can manage.

Pop-Up Clown did dinner tonight (I love their fish sandwich), with They of Many Flavors providing dessert. For hormonal reasons, I needed World Class Chocolate ice cream. Same DoorDasher brought both items, so he pretty well cleaned up on tips with me (he did a good job and it was one of the worst traffic times of day, plus how outrageous gas is, so he deserved it).

Finally got the last document we needed for tax purposes, so now need to get on that soon-ish, but not tonight. Poor sleep lately and allergies are going nuclear. Between that and other disturbances, not the happiest of girls today.

I got my hair trimmed. My stylist, who’s become a friend, is moving to the Deep South, as his wife is attending college there. I’ll miss him. It’s hard to find someone who understands my troubled hair, plus he’s a good guy. His mom will be my stylist. I do like her. Hope she understands my rebellious , split-personality hair!

Then I walked to the gym, where I did a grueling two-hour workout and burned off 1,000 calories, near as I can figure. Then I walked to the grocery store so I can make spaghetti sauce this weekend. Would you believe they only carry ONE brand of tomato paste, and then only in the little cans? Weird.

I got a notice from the IRS. They helpfully applied my $56 2021 refund to the $7,000 they think I owe and which is, they say, “DUE IMMEDIATELY.” So now they’ll owe ME $56. I don’t know who the head of the URS is, but judging by the goldbricking, I’m betting it’s First Name: Beetle, Last Name: Bailey.

I have not heard from my daughter, which means the house thing is still up in the air. Ugh. Nail-biters are only fun at the movies.

My sister, who had knee replacement surgery in January, is done with PT and doing great, except the KR leg is now an inch shorter than the other, despite the “custom-made” artificial knee. She’s getting a shoe insert, but I’m wondering how common this is. @FairyChatMom, did FCD have this issue? Anyone else ?

The clerk who gave me the hand sanitizer was an old guy, and I sure hope he wasn’t flirting. (“Here’s some partly-used sanitizer! Gaze lustfully upon my jiggly belly under my stylin’ red vest and you’ll be putty in my hands…or in Aisle 6, next to the caulk.”)

Yeah, but I bet when you do sleep, you sleep reeeeally well!

Make it up over a sandwich. Mangia, mangia!

Whoa! 10 football fields! “I am Iron Mouse” indeed.

Oopsie, anyone whose heart isn’t lifted by watching a dog is in real trouble. They’re the best!

sunny, hope the bank hassle gets worked out.

Hugs all around, and an extra one for Boo, who is probably underhugged.

Thanks for the concern, guys. I actually had 3 meals today, plus most of a 2 liter of Dr Pepper. Now will retire to the couch with a Twinkie or 2. But sadly, I forgot I ran out of wine last night, must make do with a GnT. Hmmm gin and twinkies… Could make for an interesting combo

oopsie Gotta love dogs.

Happy Firday!

Was a foggy morning at the park. All the dogs seemed lazy. Lucy’s dad took Echo out of the park for me as a new dog was coming in as we were leaving.

My mother got the news today that it is cancer. She goes to the doctor on Thursday to see what her options are. As I expected they would, my sister and Niece1 are pushing her to get chemo. I told her she is a grown woman and she can do what she wants.

We’re going down to visit on Tuesday, I’ll talk to her about the will then.

Howdy Y’all! Been home a couple of hours from kitchen duty over to the church house. The corned beasts are perfection, if’n I do say so myself. Tomorrow will be more cookin’ and gettin’ ready for the hoardes to descend and feast. We shall have music tomorrow. I got to watch the rehearsal whilst the beasts were cookin’ away. Lots of Irish music mixed in with some other stuff, plus some audience participation stuff. Soon I shall betake myself to bed, cause I’s tahrd!

Taters Happy Doperversary! Also, yay for Polar!

Oopsie sounds like a perfect afternoon out in the yard with the doggo!

shoe glad to know Gentleman Caller is a good distraction. I find my own Gentleman Caller (even though he actually lives here) to be quite the good distraction as well.

Just about! But she’s 13, so there wasn’t much actual zooming. Heh. There was, however, a moment when a fat squirrel decided to run across the yard, and it underestimated how fast the dog can be: it was pretty fun to see the exact time when the squirrel realized it needed to put on some speed in order to avoid becoming a dog toy! And I hadn’t heard Bailey’s excited squeaky “chasing a squirrel” bark in a while, so that was really nice, too. We wound up being outside for about an hour. When I felt like going in I put the chairs and table away and brought everything inside, and just as I was thinking about how to entice her into the house she walked across the yard and right up the back steps. I didn’t have to call her or anything! Good doggy!

That’s what I had for dinner, too! Plus some mandarin oranges, and a 100-calorie pack of dry roasted almonds. And a teaspoon of honey mustard for dipping.

For the past couple of nights I’ve had the urge to make sugar-free instant pudding, even though I’m not actually hungry. I think it’s just the ghost of my sweet tooth. If this keeps up, though, I’m gonna have to make some and maybe eat a tablespoon or two.

I tried Freshly a couple of years ago. I liked that I didn’t have to cook or assemble anything, and all I had to do was pop the trays into the microwave. But the portions were a little too small for me, and I wasn’t crazy about many of the “here’s a healthier version of this comfort food” substitutions, so it wound up not working out. But I think a meal service might be worth trying again once I’m 1 year post-surgery: I’ll max out at 8 oz per meal, so small-ish portions won’t be an issue anymore, and with my carb/sugar restrictions the “healthier version” things might actually be perfect. I have my eye on a service called RealEats, where I can customize every meal. I’ll look into it more in November.

:blue_heart:

Big news. My daughter called. If I give (not lend–can’t be lend due to legalities) them some money, the house is theirs. It’s an amount I can do. The lender pitched in a few grand (not added to their mortgage, just a gift), and the realtor cut her commission. I know they’ll both still profit, but it was darned kind of them. My daughter is so moved. I wish she could count on her dad for money, but he gets irate when asked (even though he’s better off than I am) and flat-out refuses. Poor him. He misses out on so much.

Sari, I’m sorry about your mom’s news. I hope she gets to be captain of her own ship. She’s blessed to have you for a daughter.

Sari I’m sorry the news about your mom isn’t better. F*ck cancer.

swampy I like this idea of moving St. Patrick’s to the weekend. I could either celebrate twice, or just the once but with lots of time to enjoy. Win-win!

Thanks, I am. The woes of being a solo divorcee in a Covid world.

{{{{ hugs back atcha! }}}}

Sari, I’m sorry to hear about your mom. Cancer just plain sucks no matter what. Give her all the support you can, and that’s all the advice I have, really.

Nellie, glad things are working out for your daughter and the house!

Currently, our electricity has been out for about an hour. I don’t know why. PG&E is estimating another hour and a half. We do tend to have frequent outages here, but they seldom last more than a few minutes. Thankfully our phones were both fully charged.

All this talk of wills makes me very thankful for my family. When my mom passed, her will was pretty simple: everything gets divided three ways among her sons. Nobody fought over anything. A couple of my nieces wanted some of her furniture and my brother and sister-in-law took a few small appliances. Most of her stuff went to charity in the end.
She had wanted to set up a college fund for her great-grandchildren but hadn’t gotten around to it. My older brother (the kids’ grandfather) asked my younger brother and myself if we were ok with setting aside some money for this before splitting the rest, and we readily agreed. We also gifted Mom’s car to one of my nieces. My older brother - the only one who ever procreated - was the one who lived nearby, and got stuck with most of the end-of-life issues with both our parents, so it was an easy decision to agree to these small gestures.
All three of us came away with more than we had before, and I can’t imagine jeopardizing my relationships with my brothers by scratching for more.

And as I was typing, the power came back on! Yay! Guess we’ll go finish that episode of Succession now.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

This is the correct response. And you have the unanswered emails, etc. when they whine about it.

Gordie doesn’t do zoomies anymore, but Attention Deficit Dog Theater is always fun:
I have an itch
Wait, is that food?
Tail!?!
SQUIRREL!

I’m still waiting for my parents to send their updated will. But as long as I get the beer mugs, the rest of the family can fall on each other like wolves.

That’s good news, nellie!

Up for my bio break, polishing off the last coupla niggets. I took a multivitamin before bed, and - possibly related- woke up feeling much less run-down than before.
