Howdy Y’all! Home from all the feastin’ and doin’s over to the church house. We done good with figurin’ out about how much food we would need. A good crowd attended and apparently really enjoyed the feast and music etc. I actually ducked out a little early cause I’d been there since eleven-thirty this mornin’ and so am tahrd. Now I shall chillax with some Netflix. Also some cookies. I need cookies.
Talky hooray for overlyboy startin’ to be on the mend!
Congrats on 4 decades smoke free cookie. I know from personal experience how hard that is.
I was productive in the studio this morning, then took Nelson to the 'Boro for a playdate with the former neighbor dogs Kobe (retired SDPD K9) and Snoop (120# mastiff), along with their current neighbors, Lilo (ChiPin) and Bandit (chiweenie). Beverages were consumed and a good time was had by all. When we got home, he got a bath. Fat Mo’s fixed a patty melt for supper.
SWMBO asked if we could go to Drayton Harbor Oysters for oysters and beer tonight. I went for a 2.14-mile walk, then took a shower. SWMBO suggested we go to Paso del Norte instead. fin e with me. We haven’t been there in a while. I had 3 hot wings and half of a shredded-beef taco salad, and she had huevos rancheros. I had two Grande Cadillac margaritas, and she had two grande blackberry margaritas. As I was paying the bill at the bar, two women about our age like my The Who roundel T-shirt.
Evening all. The Olive Garden has been visited and dinner with Salad and Breadsticks (I swear I go there for the salad and bread, the food is only so-so), so I am stuffed. Awaiting the Coast Starlight (AMTRAK) to appear on the Virtual Railfan camera, will be riding it on the 13th of May from Seattle to Portland post-cruise. Want to check out the train makeup (hey, gotta kill some time anyway…)
Red, glad Nelson plays so well with others, even dogs much larger than he is.
FCM, You have the meats!
Cookie, I have pictures several generations old that need organizing, probably never will get them done, they sit in a large storage bin that I can pretty much ignore.
swampy, glad the doin’s went well and the food held out. GWT good night’s rest now.
OK, need to finish internettin’ and head onward to bed. All y’all take care.
sari I am so sorry about your Mom’s cancer. You are right that she has to make her choices.
cookie, congrats on a good anniversary. I quit smoking a couple of weeks after I retired, couldn’t be throwing those perfectly good cigs out.
talkie It’s great that overlyboy is walking, I know that has to help. I’m not a medical person or anything, but I’m guessing the muscle spasms are because his muscles were used to the way things were and are struggling to find their way now. Is he allowed a hot pack? That might help somewhat.
shoe Agreed, would love to see pics/vids of these doggos. For some reason I have Patrick Warburton doing the voices of both the K9 and the mastiff. Then maybe Kristen Chenowith as the ChiPin?
I ate well today, along with a 10 hour day in the shop.
sari Fuck cancer. So sorry about your mom.
Off to bed time for me, Got another full day in the shop tomorrow. Much plywood to be thrown through the table saw. Huzzah. I tried pondering how far I’ve pushed things through the table saw. I came up with on last Sunday I did a half a mile, at 8 feet at a time. So over 15 years doing this…
Hosted my sister’s birthday dinner. It was at a restaurant. Inside a restaurant. I haven’t done that since the before times. It was strange, but old habits kicked right back in. I do wish I’d had my ear plugs, but I’ll remember next time.
We sent all of the old family photos to a scanning service, and got everything moved to digital. I’m not saying that you should throw things out if you’re not comfortable with that, but it provided some peace of mind.
Don’t do that. Seriously, don’t do that to yourself. I once got mind-hooked into thinking about all the paper I have shuffled over the years and was at about a ton before getting so depressed that I got drunk.
Today hubs and I went to a local craft fair. It was mostly quilters but I wanted to buy a couple of the microwave bowl cozies I’ve seen so that was fine with me. I was disappointed that I couldn’t find any local AZ stuff for this year’s Secret Santa, but I bought a small loaf of jalapeño and cheese bread to console myself. Hubs got a business card from a handyman.
We sometimes lose track of what I’ve brought home from the surplus produce, so I cleaned out our fridge drawers. Our housekeeper’s bunny is almost 10 years old and doesn’t get old produce anymore, but I did find some carrots for bunny. Housekeeper got a tub of cream cheese and a tub of cottage cheese because she loves it so much. The woman cleans hub’s bathroom, you better believe I’m going to do what it takes to keep her coming back!
My BFF is an empty nester and is going to turn the bedroom next to theirs into her dressing room. She’s planning to make it girly and frilly to emphasize that it’s her room and not a nice spot to store drums. (Her husband is the singer in the band, he doesn’t even play the drums, but there are three complete sets being stored in their home. This is not sparking joy in her life.)
She’s coming over tomorrow to look at patterns and discuss colors so I can make her a lacy, girly piece to hang on the wall. GG really likes her because she knows to sit quietly and wait for him to make the first move. She’s bringing her husband so he can drink some of hub’s beer while we gab.
GG likes the husband too, but the guy is a singer in a punk rock band and makes a living as an industrial plumber (plumbing large buildings and warehouses under construction) so tends to forget that he doesn’t need to project his voice when he’s in a small gathering. This works out great for deaf as a post hubs, they seem to have a great time together.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 74 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization, I have Verger duty, followed by a trainin’ session for new Acolytes (a brief session, cause I’s still tahrd), followed by back to da cave for much sloth. Any need to feed will be via forage.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
But where do you live? Very good for you and much better to have a garden. Now I, in England, London, have turned my grass lawn into a big flower bed full of spring flowers and I like that better.
metal mouse, shoe and sunny, Kobe is a GSD and scary smart. His sib Snoop is the mastiff and intimidated by small dogs (he was raised with an elderly Yorkie who was the boss of the house). Nelson tends to go all Scrappy Doo on big dogs until he gets to know them, but gets along well with these two. Their current neighbor dogs are lively sweethearts. Lilo was there for their last playdate and she can match Nelson’s energy pretty well. Bandit is a new addition to her house and but a 7 month old puppy who is absolutely adorable. I don’t often take playdate or dog park pics (usually too busy visiting with the humans there), but will try to remember next time.
Up, caffeinating, had a bite for breakfast (not very hungry, but needed something to go with meds). In a bit, I’ll begin the Sunday chores so’s I can mess around in the studio the rest of the day. I’m glad that we got outside yesterday, since winter decided to make a visit today (35F this morning).
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean and wath some hockey… hic hichic hichic hic hicHORNK - Alex Catt

We pretty much get the Soup-Salad-Breadstick meal every time. Honestly, I can’t recall the last time I ordered an entree there, mainly because it is so mediocre. And since I’ve found I can buy the dressing at Food Lion, we don’t even crave the salad any longer.
You, my dear, have mastered retirement in record time!!!
Having assisted FCD pushing many a 4X8 sheet, I have to say I’m properly impressed you do it alone. Even with the table extensions he’s added, it’s not safely a 1-person job here. But if he made the table bigger, he couldn’t have fit the lathe and the mills and the router table and the plasma cutter and… well, the rest of the boy toys…
I would love to turn swaths of our grass into flower beds, but I don’t want to remove trees, so that would limit what flowers would grow, and spousal unit wouldn’t have it anyway, despite the fact that I do most of the yard work. (He hates it and I don’t mind - sometimes I actually enjoy it.) If he had his way, our lawn would look like a putting green, but we have neither the time nor the finances to maintain such an artificial yard. I figure if it’s green and can be mown, it works.
After a loverly day in the 70s yesterday, we’re starting spring by not getting out of the 50s. No biggie - I have a day of laundry ahead. I need to rest up for tomorrow morning. SIL has a Dr appt about an hour away so I need to be at their house at 7:30 so I can take Roxy to school at 8. That will mean bundling both of them in the car, dropping her off, then taking Toby back to wait for his dad to get home. He’s having a pre-surgical CAT scan and with luck, he’ll finally get his knee fixed on Apr 5. This is the surgery that was supposed to happen in December, but various insurance issues kept pushing it farther out. Poor guy.
So, bottom line, much chillage today except when actually running up and down the stairs with laundry. And there have been a few more weird dreams - one with swampy (I don’t remember any details) and another with a woman telling me I need to keep my flight status current (I haven’t piloted a plane since late 1978…) My brain truly goes strange places when I sleep. It didn’t help that I kept waking all night and finally got up around 3 to play a bit on my tablet till I fell asleep again. Such is life.
Morning all, pills taken and paper retrieved. Only 40F now but due to get near 70F and not a drop of rain and plenty of brightness. Might even take a walk as this is my day off from the gym. Probably watch some basketball instead, but we’ll see.
