The Labo(u)r Day MMP

swampie I never did get those bizkets. My get up and go got up and went. Would have required a grocery run and I have groceries delivered instead of going into stores where folks lean over yah and breathe on your neck to reach something off the shelf. Baleful stares have no effect, so will have to have the makings sent to my front porch.

Finally figured out to turn my furnace on when I couldn’t find enough afghans to cover my lap. The house was 62 inside. Too chilly for these old bones. Even my meezer, who has fur, crawled under the covers at nap time. I intended to warm up and read but that lasted for less than a chapter.

I am worried about you Mumpers who have those frightening wild fires threatening you. Please let us know often how you’re doing and that you are safe.

Pancakes for supper. Breakfast for supper is the easiest thing when all your momentum has left the station. Well, breakfast for supper or pb on Ritz.

Doing the middle school drop off run in the morning and then going over to my daughter’s house to babysit it so a repair person can come in to diagnose their unrefridgerating refrigerator. Nothing like your fridge going out on Friday when you’re leaving o dark o’ clock Sunday for a road trip to Colorado. I should try to accomplish some of the paperwork that’s hanging over my head but that’s unlikely. Trashy novel it is. They have a Keurig and I know where the coffee is so I should be fine. Have to pack a breakfast and lunch because, well, the fridge is dead and I don’t think the wine cooler holds much solid food. Good on fruit juice though, if I don’t mind a little fermentation.

May be back, may not depending on how warm the covers are. By morning the house should be warm.

Good night. Sleep tight.

Boo

Amazon seems to have a good supply. Prices don’t look too outrageous, either, so far as I can tell (dunno what’s typical for that, since DH and I generally do not care for anything squash-like).

Consensus at irk is that the callers are dumber and nastier than usual this week. The front-line doofuses are a mixed bag. Some are actually getting competent, others apparently DNGAF.

Air quality is slightly better in Sacramento than yesterday, but still not good enough to allow the Princess to go outside. Still haven’t settled on the bird’s name yet. Leading candidates are Grace, Misty, or Pearl.

Sorted, came home, went out, bought cat food, napped. It was a ainy blurfy day.

eek. I’d have the bug out bag in the car, and the cat carrier by the door, just in case.

Chicken boobie ingested (and shared with some of the prettiest kitties, oh, yes they are!) and chillage is ensuing. Curled up in my papazan, in front of a new-to-me TV show (*) and generally content with my lot in life today.

(*) Rick and Morty. It’s right up my alley, I’m surprised I’ve skipped over it all this time.

I found that in a pinch a pillowcase makes for a good enough emergency cat carrier. Had to do that once for a hurried tornado siren. Took the cats two days to forgive me but we all lived the tell the tail (groan).

No preparation/evacuation alerts for the county last night, but 5 or 6 during the day. Hoping for a shift in the wind direction, and less wind, and a freak rain shower. AQI again over 500. Packed and ready should the need arise.

Can I nominate Swampy for Zoom bizkit making demonstration? I think I printed out a recipe with instructions from Mooooom (is there a fixed number of o’s, or is at the moooooood strikes?) but today’s a bit rushed because I have to go to the store between breakfast and before work.

Not very motivated to cook. Make something yesterday (chicken vindaloo) with frozen veg which were not good. Better off using fresh so today I’ll get carrots and green beens. Which I need to add to the list.

My parents are getting some of the smoke from the WA fire, which was man-made. Also saw pictures from a friend the northern half of OR and they have yellow-ish skies.

Stay safe everyone!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Can’t wait to see what chaos the anvil gnomes will bring today.

Just remember to order the right ingredient before class.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 and rainy(ish) out with a predicted high of 88 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse likely. We shall see. No big plans for the day. I took some butter out to soften cause I shall make chawklit chip/pee-kahn cookies this mornin’. OK, I guess that is a plan. Sup shall be what we did not sup yestiddy.

A bizkit makin’ demo? Should I wear a chef’s hat? Should I wear pearls? Should I wear both or would they clash? White or checkered apron? I need wardrobe STAT! :man_cook:t2:

All y’all in the fire danger/evac area stay safe!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Masks required for 2 and over. She has one and she’s worn it in the house, but no matter how much we tell her it’s pretty, she yanks it off after a few minutes. No reasoning with a toddler.

Yeah, it’s real early - instead of pearls, I saw “Should I wear pants?” :open_mouth: As for apron, I vote frilly!

Speaking of early, my bladder woke me around 2:30 - dreaming that it was emptying. Boy, howdy, will that get you out of bed fast!!! Then the rain started - LOUDLY - and I’ve been up ever since. Shortly, I will drive down to the school to fetch Roxy, and another day of entertain-the-toddler-indoors shall begin.

Not only is it pouring with yet another flash flood warning, but we’re under a tornado warning for the next hour. Some crazy weather we’ve been having! I’m a bit concerned about my drive as I have to cross St. Clement’s Creek, and several of the bridges that are out are across that creek. The on one Md 234, which is the way I’ll go, looked pretty solid, so here’s hoping…

Wish I could send our rain out west - youse guys need it more than we do! Stay safe, all!

Happy Thursday!

Mooooooomm is nice Dammit! I’m sure if it felt good she would want us to do it.

Goooood Morning all, dawn is relentless.

Boo

Happy Thorsday!

Cool, humid, and rainy outside. It’s more of a drizzle though, so lawn/fence guy can still put in the posts.

No many at the park this morning. Neither of mine were very active, I think they are still tired from Toosday. Don’t know if there will be a plunge tonight, probably not if it is raining.

I don’t know what is going to happen to Echo when the fence is done. She looks for the lawn/fence guy everyday. She runs back and forth looking out the door, crying the whole time until he gets here.

My schedule is messy today. I need to take the neighbor to his doctor appointment this afternoon , don’t know how long that will take. It’s hard for me to irk when the fence guy is here, I never know when he will need me for something. I don’t know if the plunge is on or not. I think I’ll just not schedule any irk hours. I can still irk even if I’m not scheduled.

Here’s a handy cooking tip: You’ll have the best luck making hard boiled eggs if you turn on the stove.

You’re welcome.

I’ve emptied my little freezer to let it defrost. Amazingly, there wasn’t a lot of ice accumulation in 2 years. With luck, I can reload it in a couple of hours. So yay.

Yes!! Also, his kids are both at least 3 years younger than my youngest. So either he has no notion of what may or may not seem appropriate to other people or something is up. But your comment makes me feel better. I always second guess myself like, “Am I being a presumptuous asshole here?” But I get a weird vibe from him and if the police regularly show up at his house, I’m willing to take the risk of being the neighborhood busybody.

Anyway, up and done with my 3rd cup of coffee. Today is way better than yesterday. I was super careful about what I ate, forced myself to at least take a walk and got in bed early-ish. I’ve been in a lot of pain the last few weeks, so the absence of it is nothing short of luxurious.

Now to mentally prepare myself to hang out with my mom this evening. Every time I see her now she comments on how grey and long my hair is and insists I must go in to get it cut as soon as humanly possible. Woman, we’re in the midst of a pandemic and you’re immunosuppressed. You can be offended by my greys for a few more weeks. Think about it this way: I’m giving you something to be outraged about that isn’t politics. You’re welcome.

So I start at sort, then O(the supervisor’s supervisor’s supervisor) pulled me off to do unload. In a truck with no working fan.(Did I mention the humidity was 278%). I’m sure she does it repeatedly be cause she thinks “dogbutler is hard working and nucking futs, and he’ll get the job done!” Or she could end every meeting, conference call, memo, and email with “dogbutler delanda est.” But then I had to do the mezz, to fix the screw ups. And the package going to

you’re not getting your stuff any time soon.
And since everything was running behind ,they cut the belt off on time. :headdesk: Plus Green line shovled 2 carts of unscanned and missorts to us, 10 minutes after the belt cut off. : double headdesk : Then they sent another cart of missorts and unscanned, 5 minutes before the trucks were to leave. : Godlike headdesk :
Anybody wanna be my sugar momma? I’m not hideous, and I dust.

sari, sounds like Echo has a puppy crush on Fence dude.

Doggio, I don’t understand about half of what you’re writing, but I get enough to know it was not one of the greater work days of your life. Hang in there.

Sari, agree with doggio, sounds like Echo has a teenage crush on the guy. Will be a pain to deal with for a couple of weeks, I’d guess.

FCM, had all that rain last week, it’s yours now…but I agree, the western states could use it more.

Dicey, the “O” content in Mooooomm (extra M’s optional) depends on mood only. And need for attention…

Boo, happy housesitting.

Two soccer practices into the week and I’m fairly sore. Still have today and tomorrow and then coach two games Saturday (and maybe ref, we’ll see how it goes). And then mow the yard Sunday. Blurf.

Ah well, keeps me more or less out of trouble. Take care all.

Afternoon, mumpers! Just a flying visit, far too much to do…and I has Teh Grrrr!

I’m a bad grandmother. I put Roxy in time out, then forgot she was there… :open_mouth:

OK, it was like 5 whole minutes, but still. Luckily, nap time is as soon as the current episode of Gigantosaurus is over. She’s in such a mood today. I know she’s bored, but dang, kid, act your age…

Oh, yeah, she’s 2…

I’m glad I didn’t try to irk this morning. The fence guys are irking right outside my living room window and the dogs are going nuts. I can’t let them out because the gate is gone.

The sun is coming out, so I hope the tonight’s plunge is still on. The other guy next door is going with me tonight. He has MS, so I hope it’s not too much for him.

My mother gave up years ago trying to get me to cut my hair. She thinks if your hair is past your ears, it’s too long. My hair is down past my waist. Not too much grey in there though. Not yet anyway. I don’t know if I will cover the grey or not.
My son’s hair was past his shoulders, now it’s shoulder length, she really hates his hair. When it was really long he got a lot of compliments on it. It’s almost black, thick, with curls.

I hope it’s just a crush with Echo. He really likes her too. He plays with her and bends down so she can give him kisses, then he tells her he loves her too.

One evening at the pooch plunge and I am still sore. I didn’t even do that much, although the first pool has a lot of stairs to get to it.
