The last minute MMP

I am embarrassed to say that not a damn thing got accomplished today. Well, my son washed the dishes, but that’s about it.

We’ve spent the entire day playing World of Soddin’ Warcraft.

This evening’s dinner will be leftovers from last night.

I made a big giant pan of this layered pasta dish for dinner last night. Sort of like lasagne, but I use the corkscrew pasta.

Sweet italian sausage crumbled and browned with onion, garlic and assorted herbs.

Take a big pan. Schmear a little marinara sauce in the bottom. Put a layer of pasta on top. Put a layer of your cooked meat on top. Add cheese. I used mozzeralla, provolone, asiagio, parmesan and a couple of other types. At any rate, whatever floats yer boat.

Schmear another layer of marinara sauce on that. Pour a little heavy cream on top of that. Just a little. I drizzle it around the edges and in the middle.

Proceed to next layer of noodles, meat, cheese, sauce, cream. Keep layering until you run out of room in the pan or stuff to layer with. I usually get about three layers. Bake in a 375 degree oven until you reach melty goodness. Scarf it up.

Oh, I put just a little more cheese on the very top just before it’s done baking.

I’m thinkin’ I should probably do my dang taxes tomorrow. Ugh.

Hugs to those that need them. Cyber aspirin to those with hangovers.

It’s snowing, but not much is supposed to come of it.

Oh yeah, taxes - I need to have a go at them… <sigh>

That sounds yummy, Taters. Might need to make that soon…

I need to do taxes too. Wanted to do them this weekend, but since I’ve frittered away the first two days of the weekend, it might not happen till next weekend.

Don’t worry about not getting much done, Taters. Some weekends are meant for not doing much.

GT

Thanks, gt. It is actually very good.

The whole thing came about several years ago because I was just throwing stuff together that I had on hand in the pantry, freezer, and fridge. It’s a big hit with the hubby and kids and several of our friends.

I am awake. I have managed to sleep pretty much for two days, really. BUT I have no more neck pain. Thank god. Off to grocery store…anyone need anything?

I want ice cream!!!

Yes!! Ice cream, bring enough for us all!

And beer.

Yes! A beer float!

ahem

Dinner’s on over here. I’m making roast turkey with some excellent turkey gravy, smashed N.O.T. which will also be liberally slathered in gravy (oh yes, there will be gravy), and boiled cauliflower smothered in home-made cheddar sauce. Mmm-MMM. That’s some good eatin’.

I’ve retired from playin’ doctor for the day. That’s all’s I can stands, I can’t stands no more. If any more problems crop up they’ll just have to bloody well wait. I even put off a buddy coming by for coffee and talking over some business plans 'cos I just wanna chill after all these headaches.

Thus, chill I will.

After dinner.

Oh, and Gung Ho Bok Choy! Uh … Hung Gay Fat Boy! Huang Chung F… um … uh…

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

swampus, those cheese crisps sound fantastic. I’ll definitely be making those one day.

Rebo, thanks for the recipe, but I’ll need to do my own research into vegetarian stews.

So, I trust you all remember the last girl that gave me the brush off. We went out, she wasn’t interested, etc. Anyway. She’s one of my physics classmates, and I’m starting to seriously suspect that she and our Quantum Mechanics TA are getting involved in a way that’s entirely inappropriate for a student and a TA to be involved. I’ve known for some time that he’s interested in her, but as far as I knew (and she even told me this directly) it wasn’t mutual.

But circumstantial evidence that this is slowly changing is starting to build. I don’t have enough of a case to act on my suspicions, so I’m not going to do anything yet. Not until I have something concrete.

I’m back from dinner with some old friends. Applebees was good for a change( they even have Yuengling on tap), and we go free deserts. We left good tips. My ex-roomate wanted everyone to move to Atlanta. I stopped and got beer and dish detergent, and filled up a lady’s car with gas. Maggie and Lucretia got some leftover chicken fingers, too.

Spats, that’s not good. I thought of a pun last night, but forgot.

FCM, I did my taxes already, and got my refund. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mork, maybe your PC is shouting because of all the hungover MMPers?

Back from the store. Now I remember why I dont’ go on Sunday nights–the store has no food! I had to search for the soup I like (yeah, I don’t always make homemade–sue me), and there were no bananas.
But it wasn’t crowded at all, thank goodness. Tomorrow I go with #2 son to his school, where he can impress me with all his learning!

(he gave me a Valentine signed by your son #2…wasn’t that sweet?)
Off to bed soon, afterall, I’ve been up for a whole 3 hours now–time for bed, soon…
Oh, wait, forgot. <hands over ice cream–Fudge Ripple–to FCM, but no beer on Sundays for MBG…>

So leave out the beef, and substitute veggie broth! More root veggies would be good, too…

School - tomorrow? Not here!

Ha! I fool you…yesterday, the Child said “dad, there’s a 6 of Heineken in the garage fridge, it’s MINE, don’t drink it ok?”

Then, this evening, not 2 hours ago, she drove back to DeKalb…I check the fridge…Ha! And she won’t be home for another week. I do believe one 6-pack looks just like the next, right?

rosie, thanks for the info. about Peapod. I just checked and they don’t operate in this area, but I think safeway.com should be similar.

MBG, stealing beer from your child? What is this world coming to?

Mork, I have a question about the Zire72 that I’m hoping you don’t mind answering. I’m playing my P-tunes through a speaker on a sound soother because the sound soother has a timer that goes off after 15 minute intervals and I listen to audiobooks and fall asleep, so that part works. If I played the audiobook from a straight speaker, the audiobook would play for 10 hours. But here’s the thing: I want to recharge both the Zire72 and the sound soother simultaneously because they both don’t last for very long. Here’s my present set-up. I plug in the Zire72 to an outlet and I cable that to the sound soother. But if I plug in the sound soother to an outlet also, there’s a terrible feedback sound. So I solved that by using rechargeable batteries for the sound soother and changing them every day. This is getting to be a pain. Is there another way to solve the problem? I’ve been told that the feedback sound is due to both the Zire72 and the sound soother being on the same frequency when they’re charging, hence the sound. Any thoughts? Thanks.

As for my day, it was another pretty nice day, down to the 60’s again today, but it was nice. I went to church (a Christian church) even though I’m not a Christian. (Kinda long story that I might tell at another time–this isn’t the long story). It’s a huge church and I asked the guy in charge of the small groups there if anyone would mind if I attended their small groups if I let them know I’m not a Christian. He said that if anyone minds, then let him know because he’s training the leaders of the groups in that church to accept all people. I thought that was pretty nice. So I’m looking into it. A couple weeks ago, I tried going to a Unitarian Universalist church in the area and I didn’t care for the logistics. I had also gone to a UU church in the opposite direction a couple years ago and didn’t care for it. I really love going to church though. . . I love the singing and the quiet time and the reflection and the pastor at this particular church I went to today is very good at persuasion. I used to attend this church for several years a while back so I know quite a bit about it. Anyway, nice time at church.

Heff - No, I don’t mind answering. I don’t think there’s any “frequency” involved, it’s more likely a case of poor RF shielding. Do you have a power bar? If so, I’d plug that into the wall and the two units into the bar, preferably at opposite ends of the bar and see if that helps. Alternatively, if you don’t mind popping into your local Source/Radio Shack or some other electronics bits 'n pieces store, see if one carries ferrite ring magnets (soft ferrites, specifically). Don’t worry, they’re not magnets like the kind you stick to the fridge; they don’t actually stick to metal. They’re used extensively in cabling where RF interference can be a problem. (Look at the cables connecting things to your computers. At least one of them probably has a round bump at one end. The bump contains a ferrite ring) Ferrite rings are great at preventing wires from emitting interference. If you can find one, buy one, preferably larger than a quarter, and wrap the Zire’s power cable through it a few times near the tip before plugging it into the Palm Universal Connector. If that doesn’t work then your sound soother is probably to blame, so wrap its power cable through it. (If the plug won’t fit, wrap it around it, again near the end)

Hope that helps.

Sorry, should have clarified. Yes, “frequency” is involved, but no, I don’t think it’s because the two devices are being powered at the same one. It’s just your friendly neighborhood interference.

Mork, if you mean by power bar, a surge protector with several outlets on the same strip, then yes, I’ve tried that. I’ve also tried plugging one into the surge protector and the other into the wall outlet with the same sound problem. I will check into the ferrite ring magnets at Radio Shack. Thanks so much for your help!!
