The Last of Us - tv show discussion

Meanwhile Ellie found a bunny and a deer? moose? in her 15 minutes of searching. Not to mention the place they were at last time, that those people knew about, was FULL of monkeys. I don’t know how edible monkeys are, but it’s better than human.

But eating game gets boring after a while. They mixed it up by having Mexican night on Tuesdays, Chinese night on Thursdays etc.

Was it ever explained if the fungal infestation was edible by humans? I know it’s dangerous but what if it tastes like portobello?

Well, eating infected wheat is what got them infected in the first place.

Yes, this. Rigging up some kind of greenhouse arrangement doesn’t require overly-specialized knowledge.

And as several have pointed out, Ellie found game after a very short search.

I was left with the impression that these people–leader-man and his lieutenants–were, to some ugly extent, getting off on eating their companions. Which would entirely fit with the character traits of Mr. ‘Force Myself On a 14-Year-Old.’

Especially if you know where there’s a college full of helpful books.

But there’s monkeys in the college, and all we have are armed hillbilly christians and a terrible secret.

I’ve been watching this series and it’s not bad. I’ve never played the game, so there’s not that mental interference going on. As an undead vehicle, it’s not bad. At least they’re not terminally stupid, like in TWD. The acting is solid, and the tension is good. A couple of eps were dark to the point of not being able to see anything at all; hate that. The only bothersome thing for me is a nitpick: they never seem to run out of ammo.

The preacher was also using the lack of food as a way of control. It was basically a cult. Notice how everyone got a couple spoonfuls of food and he got a full plate?

David ran out of ammo shooting at Ellie. That’s why he resorted to the cleaver.

I guess “native of where”, but there were far more than 10 million natives in the N and S American landmasses.

I did.

Interestingly, HBO chose to run episode 1 of their 2018 miniseries “Waco” (about the David Koresh cult) right after this episode.

Of course the 30th anniversary of the real-life events is coming up soon, but even so: a bit on-the-nose!

Noses are considered a delicacy.

Yep, that was indeed the entire first game compressed into one season.

Excellent.

So they think they need two seasons for the second game?

Either that or much longer episodes.

So not the ending I expected.

Excellent season. I do think the pacing as a bit off for a season of television, but they either needed odd pacing, to invent plotlines, or have combat filler or something.

Super happy with both leads. Some people were shitting on Bella Ramsey because she doesn’t look like game Ellie (who is also conventionally attractive) but she killed it. Has a season 2 been confirmed? I’m looking forward to it, but I imagine it’ll be a 2-3 years out.

The actress playing Ellie’s mother Anna on the show is the actress who did the voice of Ellie in the game, and she actually looks like she could be Ellie’s mother in “real” life.

She also had a bit part in The Avengers, and was on Growing Pains as a child.

My wife and I remembered her as Patterson fom Blindspot.
