The light at the end of the tunnel & other advice MMP

Well, I’ve been to South Carolina this year, but not this week; got one row with two numbers on it, but that doesn’t make me any money.

Guys from the contractor arrived early to put on the doorknob and hang the mirrors for the last bits of my remodel project, so that is finally closed. Everything took longer and cost more, but I like what hath been wrought.

2 out of 3 Sudokus done. Life is good.

Sunny, get that stove looked at; it strikes me as a wee bit dangerous.

ruble, dentists and meat cleavers…

Midget, get something you like and nibble at it during the day; hardly eating may be a symptom. but it can do you damage and we don’t want to see you damaged, my dear.

Blurf No lottery win for me either, dammit. Irking as usual. I have yet another meeting to attend this afternoon on my way home. I asked and got permission to be off tomorrow to try to use some leave. I don’t know if I will actually take off tomorrow or not.

Blurf

I was wondering. A weevil team seemed like the sort of thing I could get interested in…
Not much happenin’ over here today; it’s sunny but not too warm, looks like we might get the first frost before the end of the week, so I went and cut a big bunch of flowers at the allotment, bring 'em in before it’s too late.

Skool irk’s plodding along, when I run out of distractions.

Voted. Me and thousand old people were at the polling place.

I didn’t win either. :frowning: I had 0 out of 6.
Too bad. I was planning on buying a senator or two.
Wifey says no. They just mess everything up.

Filled out my ballot yesterday and dropped it in the official ballot drop box over at the police station, excuse me, ‘public safety’ building.

Going to a charity auction tonight. We sure seem to go to a lot of theses things, but seldom buy anything. The auction items, at least for the silent auction, will be 60%-70% bottles of wine, anyway. We have more wine than we’ll ever drink now. Oh well. It’s at Golden Valley Brewery,so we’ll be able to get a good dinner and some good beer. They used to make a wonderful curry there until some idiot decided it wasn’t ‘hot’ enough and ruined it. The BBQ is still good though.

Happy Hump day!

Howdy Y’all! I grocery shopped, came back to da cave and stored every thing, and then went to Sam’s for some stuff and got the propane tanks for the grill re-filled. We grill a lot, but y’all probably already figured that out. Round these parts we can grill all year long.

Sunny definitely get the gas smelly stove checked out.

We unexpectedly sold our house late last week.

No, really. On a whim we contacted a big property investment/home flip company that’s been advertising a lot 'round here lately and they made us an offer we couldn’t refuse. So we didn’t! Now we gots to get off our hienies and find a new abode - on the quickish! Can’t go too far, got an aging mother and in-laws to tend to, but it is a chance to find a “rest of our life” home on a little piece of land. Maybe a small pond…

Should be an interesting few weeks!

Holy cow, DrJ!!! I thought we’d made some quick real estate decisions, but we never sold a place on a whim. Good luck with your search! Just out of nosiness - whereabouts are you looking?

About an hour-ish east to southeast of Atlanta, a bit farther out than we are now. One can still find reasonably priced land out there.

ETA - not really a whim, as we had talked about putting the house on the market. We just didn’t expect to go from soup to nuts in a weeks time. Hadn’t really been looking at replacement places yet.

No bugatti veyron for me :frowning:

Annoying day.
I think I am going to call an exterminator for the squirrels. My nephew can’t come this weekend, he is studying for a test to get a license to sell insurance.

Ripple is not quite right in the head. He was chewing on chicken stick (chicken jerky on a rawhide stick), when he heard me upwrapping a cough drop. He dropped the stick and ran over to beg for a cough drop.

Howdy Y’all! We have supped and ‘twas good. Leftoc**over pepper steak gets turned into my version of Philly cheese steaks tomorrow. Two for the price of one sups. Howzzat for adultin’!
Doc congrats on the house sale! Y’all lookin’ for new digs around Lake Oconee perhaps? Nice area.

Awww…but I guess that now I have to remain his sugar mama. :stuck_out_tongue: Had I won, you would have had a place for all of your hockey memorabilia.

Happy birthday bat boy!

sunny, I think I’d replace that stove pronto.

Countdown for EoM has begun. I’ll likely irk a full day Friday instead of my usual knock off in the afternoon end of the week.

I just got a call from the humane outfit in the old hometown that I’ve volunteered with. The animals from shelters in the Florida panhandle are arriving (they’re a disaster relocation shelter) and they need dog walkers. I’ll likely volunteer a few hours over the next few weekends.

Speaking of disaster relocation, I watched about three military transport planes circling our airport when I came home this afternoon. When the USAF deeded the airport from the old Stewart AB to our town, it was with the stipulation that it could be used to move aircraft from disaster areas during crisis. We got them after Harvey, Florence and Michael, so I suppose that they’re evacuating for Willa now.

Happy Birthday Bat Boy!
The shelter here just took in a bunch of dogs from S. Korea. They were rescued … well we just won’t go into that.
I think they aren’t up for adoption yet, they need a lot of work after spending all of their lives in cages.

If I didn’t have a cat I’d get another dog.

Nut you do know that spidey is the lesser of two weevils…

Pretty slow day, only had one girl show up for soccer practice (but with her mom, 9-year old sister, and 3 year old brother, we had fun kicking it around for 40 minutes. Did clean up my granite countertop so it’s nice and pretty. Rain from Willa is expected tomorrow and into Firday, so the older kids practice may end up cancelled.

Allowed the King to do the grilling tonight (they’ve finally got decent french fries again). Also bought some bread and bacon (because who needs anything else?).

Sari, is there something in the cough drop that Ripple likes? Or can’t he resist getting something that you are having?

Red, I thought you were up Nashville way; Stewart AB (now a commerical airport) is on Long Island, as I recall. Am I confused (the answer is yes, just want to know how confused I am).

Dr. J, hope you read all the fine print on that sale document; but have fun house shopping!

Happy B-Day Batboy!

I’m alive!

I cleared the front and back yards of leaves when I got home. Daughter made supper and I cleaned the gawd-awful greasy mess she made. Somehow, I got a stiff neck plus I’m shaking bits of leaves out of my hair. Good times…

Gonna crash now.

metal mouse, I am in the Nashville area. Stewart AFB left town in 1971, but it had been here for many years. Sewart Air Force Base - Wikipedia I live down the street from it. Tennessee National Guard uses part of the former base and there is a nice greenway around it.

Home from work. Another of the few good managers is gone in addition to the one we knew about. Details are lacking but as we put it — he has been sent away to the puppy farm.

(It goes back to about a year ago when two good ones got canned. As it was put to us “they decided to explore options outside Da Jungle”. I looked at a coworker and said “Yeah – and my dog Ranger went away to the farm with the other puppies. I knew when I was three what dead was and I can smell it now.” The “puppy farm” became a standard line under our roof.)

Worked, went to Canes Corner. Home and chillin’ now.

Congrats, Doc!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BATBOY!!!

We used to say that they were spending more time with family. :stuck_out_tongue:

To elaborate on my stove, the issue is that the knobs on the burners just spin with the slightest breeze/person walking by. Most stoves you need to push in to turn the burners. I probably should address it with the builder. I hate it. I want it gone.

Akiko is of the opinion that she should not have a bedtime, and is staring at me with big puppy eyes from her crate. I feel her pain, but she shall remain in her prison for the nonce.

your daughter cooks like my cousin……….seems canned soda is expensive even shastas up to 3 bucks
