Irked, got out about an hour early, so’s I bought groceries on the way home. Since it was raining, Nelson didn’t get his usual Friday afternoon dog park romp. Usually, we do the drive thru after the dog park because he’s in the car. Tonight, I called an order in to the awesome BBQ joint for two smoked poke chops, turnip greens, mac & cheese and hot water corn bread. I’ll have one chop and one piece of the corn bread for breakfast. The BBQ down the street with the drive thru usually gives a pup cup to Nelson when we go there, but the awesome place had enough for both of us.
Well, soccer is cancelled for Saturday, which means for the first time in two months I don’t have anywhere to go on Saturday. What will I do with myself?
Sari, if I start humming Disco duck in the night, I’m blaming you.
spidey, a satisfied customer; how quaint. Happy for you, though.
Well. What a pain. I just had breakfast, which accomplished using my final big “paper” plate. So that means a 65km round trip to Sam’s Club today. Hope I remember to stop at the barber shop for a haircut, one direction or the other. If I get out early enough I guess I can hang at the hardware store for a while, too. Good enough Saturday when my Mighty Crimson Tide has the week off. I expect a long nap during some college football game or the other this afternoon.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 56 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 66 and mostly cloudy for the day. On the plus side, no ac or heat to run and cave windows can be opened up for some fresh air. No big plans for the day. No where we need to go and no where I want to go. I like days like this.
Time for more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, we shall see what the day holds forth.
I woke around 3, read a bit, then fell back to sleep, sorta. I dreamed I was driving thru Leonardtown (it looked different???) then I was on a scooter and an alligator was coming after me. I got away and got into town (still didn’t look like Leonardtown) and saw a gorilla going down the road. So I woke again, rearranged my pillows, and fell back to sleep till a bit after 7.
It’s still raining. Critters have been tended to. Not a lot on my agenda - critter fountain, laundry, and cleaning the pellet stove. I may run errands with my daughter - we shall see how that goes.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of towels and sheets in the wash and the puppy crate cleaned. Fixing to do KP and as soon as the shower curtain comes out of the wash, I’ll shower and begin purtification for the All Hallows Eve Hight Tea.
Doing a little laundry, nothing that really needs to be done.
I need to do my son’s FAFSA, and pick my health insurance. I have to call the vet because I made an online appointment for Ripple’s follow up and the cat’s checkup and they never got back to me. If the appointment wasn’t set it would probably be better to take the cat on Wednesday while Ripple is in daycare.
I forgot to buy Halloween candy so I ordered candy, and dog and cat treats from da jungle. I have to take out some ground beef for dinner, or maybe not.
Little piddly stuff, lots of it to do, but nothing that absoutely, positively has to be done today.
We did get somewhat productive. We went over to JDD’s and Partner’s house to help them pick up and rake up lots of little limbs, pine cones etc. All that is now piled in the alley behind their house for pickup whenever that happens. Really just about an hour and a half’s worth of work for the four of us and their yard is now reasonably back in shape. Yay for that. Now we’re at da cave and all showered and cleanded. In a bit OYKW is goin’ to get some fried chikin and N.O.T. sallit from the Harvey’s sto’. There are some leftover baby lima beans in da fridge that I will heat up. A good N.O.L. shall be consumed.
Irked. Glad to be back. This is the cleanin’ job, after one of the two big messy groups that come every year, this one was all young teens. They’d smeared makeup on the walls, shoved snack wrappers in weird places and liberally scattered hair and hair products all over. It took ages.
It’s gone all chilly here, suddenly, with hail here and snow a bit further North. Time to dig the woolly stuff out the cupboard, make soups and maaaaybe think about turning the heating on.
We have breakfasted, run errands, moved around some furniture, and I’ve started laundry. SIL is hanging with his brother today, daughter and Roxy are erranding. Shortly, I will clean the critter fountain.
It’s barely drizzly out - from the looks of weather radar, we should be done with precip - at least for a while. Onward!!!
Rearraged my closet to move the winter stuff to the center and the summer stuff off to the side.
I have 22 winter shirts/sweaters.
That is way too many, some of them are new and haven’t ever been worn. I wish people would stop buying me clothes for Christmas.
Crying for this city and for the world in general. Been at that Temple a time or three and know some former members. Words escape me. We’re heading for our church shortly and ---------- my emotions are a lot different than I would have predicted yesterday.
We et N.O.L. and then achieved nappage. Any need for sup will be via forage. 'Tis 64 Amurrkin out with a predicted low tonight of 47. I guess we can haz Fall now.
Exhausted, as always.
Went to a Clarinet Day event today but could only stay for the first presentation. Then had to get some shopping done and was so tired and achey and brain-fogged that just about the only thought I could hold onto and wasn’t confusing was that “casserole” means a different thing in English and French.
Still a bit tired now (though had a nap and a coffee.) I’ll try to get myself to practice the clarinet.
Went down to the Soccer fields anyway to turn in my soccer equipment and talk to the folks that were there. Then went shopping, ended up buying some pasta bowls (dishes, not the food) and some new Pots and Pans (the old ones will go into my Purple Heart donation pile).
Walked through Petsmart and the local shelter had four dogs on display. Three of them got to get out of their cages and get walks, so of course I had to give the 4th one a tour of the store (no, I’m not getting a dog; I love them but I’d do a lousy job of taking care of them). But it was still fun.
Have consumed dinner and am now packing my ancient CD’s and 3.5/Zip floppies to be sent to recycling centers (eco-friendly rat).
Sari, amazing how much stuff we have that we hardly if ever wear; I had to move everything out of my main closet during remodeling and I’m still throwing away or donating stuff I’ve found there.
Nut, teenagers and old folks tend to share one thing in common; we’re not the cleanest people you’ll ever meet (teenagers don’t care and old people figure they’ve done their share…)
