The Long Lost Jack Batty

Jack, maybe if you ask Zoggie real nice, she’ll start paying attention to you again. Or I could ask her for you – I always like to be helpful.

[Hi Jack]

Just a note to let you and the Missus know that Daisy Dog and Zen are taking to each other like old school chums. They will play for half an hour at a time with much gusto and the wrestling and the sprawling and the hey, hey, hey … glaven. Piewacket the cat has even managed to get over his initial trepidation and is now taking playful (as opposed to the previous “rake-your-eyes-out” type) swats at Daisy. She will even oblige by backing up to the cat so that her voluminous tail can deploy as a feline punching bag for the Wackity-Puss.

Fortunately, she has caught on just as quickly about the one verboten zone in the house. After a nibble at the cat’s dish and a sharp admonition from yours truly, she remains circumspect as to further experiments with the strange but tasty fishy flavored feline food on the floor.

As a pet owner I am obliged to compliment the both of you on Daisy’s disposition and demeanor. Rarely have I seen such a well socialized dog. She let out nary a whine when it first came time to bed down in a strange house last night. I am now sure that she inherited a smidgen of Chow-Chow because of her reservation about barking and other audible displays. She is already protective about the property and any strange noises outside, so I am pleased to announce that she is pulling her weight from the get-go.

All around, an outstanding specimen of the old Heinz 57 Variety pound puppy. You should be very proud of her training. I now appreciate more fully your hesitation to leave her in hands other than your own and how much you probably miss her. Please accept my oath that she will be spoiled rotten by the time you regain custody of this splendid pooch.

[Bye Jack]

Sorry about the situation, yet congrats on the new job.

BTW, the offer still stands.

Aw shucks, I wub you guys.

Zenster, I have full faith in you as temporary guardian for Daisy-Dog. And I have full faith in her not to be too much of a pain in the ass. I’ll see you this weekend with the rest of her stuff.

Sue - offer being considered. I may take you up on it for a visit type situation. Thanks mucho. But please no “I’m sorry”'s. I appreciate the sentiment, I really do, but Mrs. Batty and I are going about this in an intelligent and rational matter, and we are both in a pretty good space right now. All will be well.
ToddlerNym doing better? I hope.

Hey Jack,
I’m extremely glad things are turning around for you. zyzzyva, you’re one cool guy for helping the man out. Of course, you were cool anyway, but this cinches it. You know how to get a hold of me if you need anything, Batty. Congratulations and good luck.
