The Mandalorian Season 3 [Open Spoilers]

I had faith. Well, 90% faith.

Operation Necromancer: Is that the Empire? Or Palpatine?

General Hux’s dad is apparently the point-man on it, so I assume it’s Palpatine/Snoke.

“We need a code name for our super-secret evil project, so that people won’t figure out we’re trying to resurrect our dead leader…”

I could credit this segment of the Imperial Remnants with the arrogance needed to ignore security considerations like uninformative codenaming.

“We call it ‘Operation Necromancer’ because we give zero fucks what anyone figures out about our intentions.”

What is with the mandalorians and really big beasts?!?

Grogu finally has a good part this week. They must have gone crazy watching this at the Star Wars thing in England.

And of course a new IG-12 Grogu toy is sure to be released next week!

I just saw episode 4 “The Foundling” and it was horrendous, like a teenager wrote it. And from what I see from the comments in this thread about the episode, people here didn’t like it too much either.

Are the following episodes better? I’m trying to see if it’s worth continuing

Keep going, you must. It does all piece together.

Yeah, that’s probably the worst one.

Grogu running around like Bruce in Hulk armor barking out Nos and Yeses made me lose it. I don’t know if I was laughing or crying or both. I had such a maternal “my baby’s all grown up” feeling that I was just beside myself entirely. I had to pause it to compose myself. My actual child, on the other hand, had a strong emotional response to Vizsla guy sacrificing himself at the end. “HE HAS A KID!” This show has us bonding and projecting all over the place. I’m so sad it’s almost over for the season.

I am not a contrarian. I almost always like everything that is well received.

My wife and I didn’t even like this episode. I mean, we just don’t know what this show is anymore. We LOVED the first two seasons, but this has just been nothing for us.

I’m kind of at a loss for words. I had seen that tonight’s episode was very well received, but my wife and I are just not feeling it.

It was kind of dull. Maybe we aren’t paying close enough attention? I know who Djin is. I know who Bo-Katan is…though I don’t get why she is essentially the lead(or co-lead) now.

We were just kind of confused and disappointed.

Maybe we need to re-watch this entire season.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes

I get the impression that a lot of this season doesn’t make sense if you’re not familiar with the Clone Wars animated series. Dave Filoni has basically made everything he’s done since Clone Wars a continuation of that story arc, and Mandalorian is no exception.

Bo-Katan is Mandalorian royalty, and rightfully queen of Mandalore, but her role in planetary politics is a long and complicated one. Her older sister Satine, who preceded her as ruler, was a pacifist as were most Mandalorians at the time, whereas Bo-Katan was a member of Death Watch, a revolutionary militant sect lead by Darth Maul (who survived the events of Episode 1) and Pre Viszla (Paz’s cousin, I think?) The result was several long and bloody civil wars over the throne which eventually ended in Gideon forcing her surrender, taking the Darksaber from her, and then the planet getting Base Delta Zero’d. The Children of the Watch, the sect Din Djarin is a member of, is some sort of offshoot of Death Watch, which is now extinct following the purge of Mandalore and the deaths of Viszla and Maul (the latter at Obi-Wan’s hands in 2 BBY).

They named themselves “the Shadow Council”.

Subtlety has never been the Empire’s strong suit.

And those yes’s and no’s were all voiced by Taika Waititi no less.

People forget that The Death Star is a bit on-the-nose.

It’s because she’s got the talking pillow now.

My response: “How is this all ecologically sustainable?”

Also - when the giant burrowing monster comes at you from underground, is underground the best place to go hide from it? And why don’t these things fall into the giant caverns that seem to be all over the place?

Have you seen this one? The voice commands make this one for the Mando fetishists.

That was a highly entertaining episode but going with the “defeating Moff Gideon” ending three seasons in a row is kinda lame.

“Arc villain” is a thing.
