flytrap, you can bet if it’s baker talking about Mauser, there’s a 99.9% chance she’s not speaking of a firearm.
Moooooom, I keep a quart sized yogurt container (one of many for different things) in the freezer. When it gets full of shrimp shells, fish bones, etc, I make stock. Basically, it’s a quart of shells, an onion, salt and pepper with two quarts of water. Put it in the stock pot or the slow cooker and simmer for a couple of hours. Strain everything out and use for sauces, soups, chowders, paella or anything else you want fishy type broth for.
I spent my day riding herd on a couple of noobs in the department working on being certified on forklifts and cherry pickers. That, in addition to about half a day worth of my usual irk means that I’s tahred. Nelson is back to his usual playful self, so he’s not wanting to be constantly held.
Hey Taters! Nice to see you in here! Although I still [del]stalk[/del] see you on facebook occasionally.
I was on Warfarin for months and months after my AFib ‘event’. It’s not very spendy, so that’s what ** Wifey ** is gonna do if the doc wants her to. It’s just a nuisance to go in and get tested every couple of weeks.
Just got back from having a tooth pulled and the implant thingee put in.
They told me to take it easy for a few hours. Of course I had to go get the antibiotics at one place, then go to another place and get some yogurt and cottage cheese and soup. So an hour anna half later I’m finally home, ready to take it easy. Good thing too. The anesthetic is wearing off.
Well, I decided to let HRH the Burger King take care of dinner, and got home just before the tunder-boomers that we were promised all day finally showed up. So nice and dry and waiting to try to connect to a “Go To Meeting” site about the soccer tournament in Charlotte in about an hour.
Nice of you to stop by, Taters; always good to see the person N.O.T. was named after…
Bumba, sounds like it’s been an eventful day, medically speaking for the Bumbas…
Nut, glad you had a good trip and welcome back; also glad you have friends that help you out (but a 5-mile walk home…whew)
FCM, you can tell your sister I am on a seafood diet–If I see food, I eat it.
Au contraire, I have not been able to eat fish since I began keeping aquariums at a very early age.
If I must digress, my parents obtained a five gallon aquarium and guppies to explain sex to me. I never made the connection of a male guppy sticking his gonopodium into the whatchamacallit of a female guppy for three seconds, and the result of babies (fry) born live. I was interested in keeping fish, and bought a 15 and a 20 gallon with money from my paper route. At any rate, when forced to eat fish caught in Lake Conway, I was revolted by the smell.
Do you see those tree stumps? They are inhabited by billions of crane fliesthat are just waiting for the tender flesh of small children.
I had a scar where my Father, flinging back his casting rod, hooked my arm and was surprised that flipping the rod forward only offered the resistance of my arm. Small wire cutters and needle nosed pliers cured the problem.
We got a little rain today.
The window was working at the drug store so we didn’t have to go in.
Ripple and my son think it’s hot in here, but it’s 75 outside and going down into the 60s overnight, so I am still vetoing the AC.
The honeysuckle is in full bloom and it smells nice on the back porch.
My rose bush is blooming too, I think the seret to pretty roses is to try to kill the damn bush every year.
I like roses the flowers but not roses the bush.
Da Jungle was struck by lightning. The lights went out. Nobody tried to grope me. I would file a complaint with HR but the one good person we’ve ever had in that department had her last day today. None of the remaining bimbos are smart enough to get the joke.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy (dark actually) with a predicted high of 89 and mostly N.O.S. this afternoon. Only a twenty percent chance of rain even! I did not post last night as you all may have noticed. Yestiddy remained relatively dry so OYKW and I went over to his place to accomplish mowage and stayed there. We crashed early which resulted in me bein’ wide awake at four a.m. Thus, I had some caffeine there and am now back at da cave to finish mornin’ caffeination. In a couple of hours I shall begin mowage of da cave yahd. Rah. That’s the big plan for the day so far. Stouffer’s shall supply sup this evenin’ via frozen lasagna (from a box Spidey!) which I shall thoughtfully bake as lasagnasicle does not sound good.
{{{Taters}}} ::tacklehug:: YAY!!! Like Bumba said I, too, [del]stalk[/del] keep up with you on the book of faces. Glad everything is goin’ well!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Foggy drive in - areas to the west are bracing for flash floods, but our little peninsula appears to be out of the danger zone, so there’s that.
It’s the last day of the month, so we have to do a close-out time card, then one for Firday morning. Then one covering Firday afternoon and all of next week. For whatever weird reason, our pay week runs from Firday noon to Firday noon. Something to do with gummint contracts… Bottom line, it’s a 3-time-card week.
The vet’s office texted me multiple times yesterday - they had to change my appointment from tomorrow to June 13. Not sure why it took 4 texts and 2 phone calls, but it’s all straightened out now. Our vet has gotten extremely popular of late.
We got over 2 inches of rain yesterday, making this the wettest May on record. huzzah…
Leaving for Scotland tonight. I will attemp to check in. BEHAVE YERSELFS. Use coasters. Wait an hour after you eat before you go swimming. Don’t run in the house, don’t slam doors, and don’t touch the walls. These are my mother’s rules.
The whole event is a sort of communally run thing where no-one’s getting paid, and everyone chips in and helps everyone else out. It’s almost enough to give you faith in humanity it is. I didn’t have to walk home though, I stayed an extra day at a friend’s house so’s I could get the sensible o’clock coach that dropped off closer.
So sleepy today though. Car windscreen is now replaced, and it’s extremely tempting to have a nap. It’s just the fact that I’m pretty sure I’d wake up at about 8pm, then not be able to sleep overnight, added to the fact that I have irk Friday morning that’s stopping me.
Hope those in flood areas are OK, we’re getting unusually dry weather here, in one of the wettest bits of the UK. It might be our rain you’re getting. Sorry about that.
Up early, the home remodeling guy (#3 of 4 contenders) is coming by about 8AM so I need to get presentable here in a minute. Still cloudy and only 72F with 40% chance of rain.
Driving to Charlotte, NC tomorrow for a soccer tournament (have signed up to referee 5 games, may get 1-2 more in there) and won’t be back until Monday afternoon. Debating over two routes, one is shorter in miles but also goes around Atlanta, which is something I try to avoid, the other does the ‘great circle route’ to Knoxville/Asheville TN and is about 30 miles longer but it’s probably the route I will take.
So probably stick close to home today as gas tank is almost dry and I’ll fill up before starting the journey.
Now for sustenance and making myself look semi-responsible.
It’s another hot and muggy one. Not the kind of weather I want to be cleaning my house in without AC, but I will have to after work today. Gotta get it spiffy for the appraisal tomorrow.
Then it’s off to Chicago for the weekend. I’m looking forward to spending some time with Romeo without Juliet Jr. and Romeo Jr. all up in our business.
blurf Back at it. I can get a head start on some of the EOM stuff today.
I have a bunch of online training I need to do but my pitiful government computer does not have flash player installed and I need it for the classes. I have a call into the help desk.
I’m back!
Didja miss me?
Didja notice I was gone?
Coasters were [del]used[/del] handed out to appropriate parties in the park.
There is a menswear sto’ in the Greater Suburbia Maul; I don’t know why it’s there because it belongs in Da Hood. I think they do 95+% of their business during prom season; who else wears a purple Zoot Suit in Greater Suburbia? They also sells interestin’ shoes. Want black & white wingtips? They got ‘em. Want blue & white wingtips? They got them, too; & those aren’t even the interestin’ shoes.
::Puts on robe::
::Sits on bench::
I find you guilty! As punishment you will not be getting new footwear on you next b-day; yanno, footwear that matches other parts of your unmentionable attire.
What about log flumes? Since they are wet coasters, they’re kinda like swimming.
So when will your episode of Extreme Makeover air? :o
Would it help if the Mumpers got together & collectively flashed you?
I has a :(. Bruce is in town Sat night, [del]backed[/del] undered by a full orchestra & I won’t be. (I’m not talking a Boss show, but the other famous Bruce who spends time at the Joisey shore; yanno, the scary one.
They’re showing the movie on the huuuggge screen with full, live orchestra on stage below the screen playing the soundtrack.
Attention Mooompers: (see what I did there?)
Can you make Cordova, MD the first wickend in Aug?
