The Memorial Day MMP

My brain just screeched to a halt on that one. I’ll have to look that up. Everyone knows that’s a West Coast thing. :stuck_out_tongue: (Yeah, I know, they’re not)

You know what I used to call a 3-hour commute? A day that ended in “y”. :frowning:

Sunny: Va earthquake

I felt it at my house - thought it was a big-ass truck driving by at first.

The only other earthquake I recall was when I was in Sicily and Etna was erupting. I woke thinking someone was kicking my bed, then I decided it was a dream. Next morning, I noticed stuff from my closet shelf had fallen to the floor, and I figured out that the earth had moved.

Good times, good times…

I have felt minor earthquakes here that were centered off Cuba.

We get them in MD.
The first one I felt was in nothern MD. I knew it was an earthquake but everybody else in the area thought the proving grounds was testing bombs again.
Then we had one when I lived in the armpit. At first I thought it was the wind, then a truck going by, then I yelled at my son because I thought he was jumping in the house. When he came running in my room with a wide-eyed wth look on his face, then I knew it was an earthquake.
We get tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, just about everything, we just don’t get them often and usually not as bad as other areas.

Around here with three rivers and all the valleys ------------- it can get very silly very quickly. There are over 1000 bridges in the area and every main travel route has at least 3; some as many as 10. Take out a bridge on two different routes and everyone goes right to

PANIC!!!

and just sitting in traffic. I would rather end-around and keep moving. A coworker who uses the McKees Rocks Bridge went Plan B ---- West End. She sat in traffic for over an hour. Seeing Plan B wasn’t much to look at I went right to Plan G and around Emsworth (a nice dam place to live) to 79 and down 79 to 60. It wasn’t really faster but at least I was actually moving and could chart my progress.

On other fronts I have most of my crap for Cook Forest packed and ready. I volunteered to work a double Sunday and 4 days after Cooks is the convention in Virginia so I may be in and out the rest of the month. Be sure to insult Flytrap regularly for me.

Like I really need to request that.

The rest of the month  You’ll be missed. Have fun!

Home and off to get my hairs done. I need a cut and color today. First, I have to mail a package. Plenty of time as hair appointment is at 430.

Away with me.

Flytrap, I’m only doing this by request. :stuck_out_tongue:
Another wickend away for me. Bossman was kind enough to let me sleep in tomorrer & show up late/with the ‘normal’ folks. That means I get to sleep in all the way until…6am, which will be the late day for this weekend.
[del]At least[/del] Unfortunately, Sun PMs activity has been weathered out so it won’t be a 18-19 hr day for me…& less stuff I need to pack into the car tonight.

Home. Trying to decide what we want for supper. I’m leaning towards pizza delivery.

If your misfortune had happened to Dogbutt, I’d point out that he could buy the pizza on his credit card.

dammit

No one wanted pizza. **FCD **ate PB&J. Daughter and SIL just went to get a burger. I fed Roxy her bottle. Now I need to decide if I’m hungry. Mostly, I’m tahred.

You know how I always say rain/tstorms/apocalypse? Well, the apocalypse happened today. I was without broadband for almost EIGHT HOURS!!!111  It’s all better now though. We et box lasagna for sup and it was good with leftovers to be consumed tomorrow. I got a hair cut and went to :eek:WallyWorld:eek: this mornin’. OK, I didn’t have to go to :eek:WW:eek: but the haircut place is right next to it, so I did. There was some excitatement in the parkin’ lot just as I finished gettin’ shorn. There was a car with smoke comin’ out of the hood and a man inside slumped over the steerin’ wheel. EMT’s, sheriff, and fire showed up and got the car unlocked and loaded the man up in an ambulance. Hope he’s OK.

You worry me, but if you need more things to do, I’m sure we could come up with something.

I hates that. I’m glad the worst is over. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dr visit went well
My thyroid is doing well
and my triglycerides went from 217 to 105
cholesteral went from 150 to 127

low carb diet is working

Had ground beef cooked with stewed tomatoes for dinner.
I am craving tomatoes, but I am afraid to eat them raw, so stewed will do.

Ripple went crazy while I was gone, I don’t know if it is because he misses me or he just wants to go for a ride.

I sometimes eat PB&J with pecans and sliced banana.

I was in a 4.7 quake when I lived in Indiana. I was at irk tending bar when the light fixtures began to sway. One of the regulars hollered :Shut me off! Shit’s startin’ to move." :stuck_out_tongue:

I knocked off early today, grocery shopped and took Nelson to the dog park. I also picked up one of my friends’ son from work at six and delivered him to his house (one family vehicle and a schedule conflict with a brother). Since I was in the next town over sans dog, I stopped in for Thai takeout. It was spicy enough that I was force to drink a beer with it.

I can’t believe I’m crying over a scene in a Disney film. I’ve already turned it off.

I was channel surfing and came across the Disney Channel playing a movie called The Good Dinosaur. Heard of it, never seen it. The green dinosaur is sentient, and is accompanied by a mute cave boy. Dino seems to be separated from his family, and tried to explain how he misses them. Sets up five sticks, and draws a circle around them, saying “Family”. Then the caveboy sets up three sticks, and knocks two over, covering them with dirt. Dino looks at him blankly, then knocks over the largest stick, and says “papa” and puts his head down saying “I miss him”

I’m sixty three years old and I started bawling. I miss my own father so much, and iit’s almost four years since he died. The last views I had of him were so awful, laying there unmoving in the hospital, but looking like himself in his coffin the next week. I’ve got to get over this, but how?

This is only the third time I’ve ever outright cried for a movie Sorry to bother you with this, but I wanted to vent. Please don’t think I’m stupid, but I feel like it just now. I think I’m going to go out for a beer or two.

I’m 62. My Father died when I was sixteen. A while unconscious in a hospital bed.
You don’t get over it, it just gets better over time. I was in a bad way for about twenty years. I was an adult when Mother died. It was much easier.

Aww Baker. Vent and cry on our shoulders any time. I have never heard of the Good Dinosaur but shall search it out.

**GROUP HUG and Rosie’s Sig **

Well, I was invited to the Redborhood next weekend for the ACM awards since someone backed out & there’s an extra ticket & hotel space, but I still need to get there & I do have plans for next Sat night. However, iffn you’ve got a credit on Southwest…

I picked up my part of breakfast for Sunday morning; 7-7:30ish back in the hotel room. I’m bringing Cinnamon Toast Crunch & champagne that will be sabered open for mimosas. Someone else is bringing Honey Nut Cheerios.

What? It’s after the race & we’ll have been up for hours (:() already.
Ran into a police stakeout in the parking lot.
I waited for a guy to pull out & there was a car behind me, so I real quickly backed into the second angled space to get out of the way; the first was a handicapped space. When I got out & looked I was almost on the blue line. There was a plainclothes cop in an unmarked cop car behind me; he waved. When I walked back to him & asked if he wanted me to straighten out he said, “I’m here for something else, I don’t care about that.” I didn’t stick around to see the deal go down.
