the middle of winter mmp

here tis the middle of winter … and im ready for it to be over … and it doesn’t help its been actually almost 70 degrees here i know ts gonna get cold and possibly rainy
so i say bring on the permanent warmth …
anyways here we go

FIRST!!! … and I agree. even in the sunshine state… I dislike winter.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 47 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 60 and cloudy for the day. I do believe we got rain overnight. Today I need to take care of some paperirk (ICK!) and need to take care of some errands. OYKW has an appointment with the eye doc and then an appointment to talk about his 401K. Fun times ahead for both of us. Sup shall be my famous Eyetalian chickin, side matter TBD.

{{{Pearl}}} ::tacklehug:: how ya been? We miss you!

Shades I agree about Winter. Even though we have relatively mild ones, I have never liked Winter. Then again, I am a Summer baby with a July bday. I lurves Summer!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, I suppose I should tackle the paperirk stuff I need to get done as well as purtify myself and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is such a bother sometimes!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

*♪ Every…party needs a pooper that’s why we invited youper, party poopers!♪♫ *

I’ve only gotten on snowshoes once, I’ve only shot snow once, & that was at night. I haven’t even had the opportunity to shovel my driveway yet. More winter, please! Take it outta next Fall.

For those of you grumblers, remember that Spring (training, kinda-sorta) begins in 2½ weeks when pitchers & catchers & fully begins a week later.
Rat (& others). Captain Murphy, the ‘LAWyer’ was a real person. Anyone familiar with the Ig Noble Awards & the Journal of Improbable Research has probably already read about him. It really is fascinating.

**shady **- if I can make a small request - when you start an MMP, could you please make sure MMP in the title is all caps? It makes it easier for me to find. Thanks!

And good morning! We had a glorious sunrise and I’m about to get some breakfast for Roxy. Dunno what she and I will do today. Too cold for the playground, especially since she won’t wear a hat or gloves. I don’t have any errands to run. Maybe I’ll make her a fort here - she seemed to like it the other day when I draped a tablecloth over a couple of chairs. We shall see.

Daughter has class tonight, so she won’t be home till after 7. SIL works tonight. **FCD **and I will wrangle Roxy till then.

And here we are - the last week of January!!! Happy Moanday!

Winter in in N. Ali-bama is cold and rainy, shady. rained all night and still could today. 10-day forecast says it’ll be in the 30’sF at night and the 50’s during the day, which is tolerable but hardly comfortable. We might get some sun today, but most of the time will be cloudy and dreary. Bah.

Good morning all, sitting waiting for either the wall-patch guy or the floor guys to show up, with my luck they’ll make it at the same time. If al goes according to plan (HA!), everything should be done by Firday.

Not much else planned, we’ll see what the week brings.

Afternoon, mumpers!

Winter over my side of the pond has been mostly wet, sometimes windy, generally dreary and altogether something I want rid of. It’s raining again today, I am at home all week since my doc signed me off work due to being a bit of an emotional wreck. I’ve got a stinky cold/cough so I’m quite well medicated but rather sleepy.

Today I have dealt with some correspondence I picked up at mum’s flat last week, so I had to put proper clothes on and venture outside to the post box. For the rest of today, I am attempting to put sensible words together for an essay on performance management. I am halfway through an Institute of Leadership and Management qualification so I have to write stuff. Later there will be a project and presentations and all sorts of joyous undertakings!

Other than that, I got nuttin’

I’m in no. Illinois where winters suck. Cold and snow. Except this year it hasn’t been too cold (it’s above 32 during the day!) and Saturday we got 3 inches of snow which has been the most snow this winter. It was slushy and I was happy putzing at the barn. Ariel got a new winter blanket for the days when the temps are single digits but I hope she doesn’t have to wear it.

I like days without sunshine. Sunshine means it’s cold. So keep your sunny days (but N.O.S.)

My tummy feels funny like I could barf. It started last night. I may have to pretend I’m sicker than I really am and leave work early. Hey, I’m the boss!

Happy Moonday!

It was a brisk and cloudy 39 degrees at the park this morning. It felt good when I first got there, but by the time I left 2 hours later I was getting cold.
Supposed to get up to 45 later today and the sun has been trying to come out.

My son is flipping out. He has come to terms with actually going to class, but now he found out there are a whole mess of presentations that have to be done, both individual and group.
His 100 level class looks brutal.
I had noticed that many of the 300 level classes are actually less irk than the 100 and 200 level classes.

I don’t know what I am doing today.

The PNW is trying to make up for a very mild start to winter by sending in front after front of rain. It’s okay, as we need to make up for the shortage of water. The ski resorts are happy. But it sure makes for gloomy days. Today we also get a bonus of wind with the rain, starting around noon-ish. Glad I got my walk in already.

Sold my Taylor guitar, which is both good and bad. Sad to see it go, but I just don’t play it any more. The guy is coming over tomorrow with the cash; cash is good. Already patched the holes in the wall where it used to hang.

Also got rid of an old hand-made telecaster that had a bunch of problems. I had it up for $100, but the guy who came over pointed out all the problems with it and offered $50. I gave it to him for free. His wife and he have been dealing with her breast cancer and chemo, and he’s up at all hours of the night looking for things to do to keep his mind off of it, so this will be a challenging project for him.

Feeling a little less gloomy today. I think I shall go to irk for a half day tomorrow. We are off to Miami for a Dr. appt on Wed and Friday is the last day of the month so I need to go to irk. We got a cola that will appear on the next check. It’s 2.89% so not too shabby. I need all
I can get. Between this and my 3% I got a while back it does add up.

Happy new week all.

Howdy all. Sitting around as the wall folks have cut out and replaced the drywall where the (old) termite damage was. Only the wall and floorboard was damaged, the wood inside showed no damage at all. Just waiting now for the first coat of paint to dry, once the second is applied they should be done. The floor people called and said they would be late today (apparently the previous job had a couple of snags), but no sign of them as 1pm local approaches.

At least the sun has appeared and the day looks pleasant (I might even be able to get out of the house and enjoy it).
Cookie, sound like you make good deals, and deal goodly with folks.

Sari, hope he doesn’t try to drop the class. Life is nothing else but challenges, he needs to confront that (choir, meet preacher…)

wet one, I can and have handled snow; but like you I hate the slush that inevitably develops around the streets and sidewalks.

boo fae, that sounds like a whole lot of nothing! Be well and hope the writing flows easily.

butters, glad you’re feeling a bit better. Irk may be irksome, but sometimes getting back in a ‘regular’ groove can help things along.

All y’all take care.

Roxy had a 3-hour nap followed by a light lunch. Then we went to visit Grandpa in his office. She had a turn on her swing, after which we walked to the mailbox. A schoolbus drove by when we were at the end of our drive.

Back at the house, I saw a box had been delivered for FCD, so we took it out to him. Now we’re watching the Pink Fong video she loves so much. OMG, it’s torture, but she likes it.

Supper will be pasta bake. And vacuuming has been achieved, so I accomplished something.

I want snow dammit. Cold and damp and ice I detest but to kick through fresh feet of white packed stuff ------ now that is winter.

Still talk at Da New Jungle about changes in shifts and lots of various TPTBs passing through. I am still holding any concerns for the most part and staying way clear of panic mode.

Thinking about dinner. The OW likes to eat later on Moandays so I am thinking some sort of canned soup. Just not feeling the need to fuss; just consume and settle down.

Took my son to school, have no idea how I am going to pick him up. He says he’ll start walking towards home and I’ll try to find a place to park near the school.
Tonight all they will be doing is going over the syllabus and dividing into teams.

When Sah-son was little he loved Bambi. He watched it so damn many times that I could recite all the dialogue along with the movie.
Hope Roxy never gets into Pokemon, it will make you crazy.

Friend1 thought I and another friend of hers were so mean because we bitched about our sons being into Pokemon. At one point I had forbidden my son to even say the word Pokemon in front of me. Then he’d say, you know that word I’m not allowed to talk about? Well, in today’s episode… Friend1 thought we were horrible, how could we not care about our son’s interest, how hard is it to listen to them talk about what they liked?
Then her grandson discovered Pokemon.
She said OMG somebody please shoot me now and put me out of my misery.

There are two routes that I walk: Through the neighbourhood, around the little natural park, out to a main road, down to the beach, up the beach, and up the hill (2.1 miles); or I do laps around the neighbourhood and park. The latter route is ⅔ mile per round. I’ve been doing three laps, then down the hill and up the hill (2.1 miles total). Yesterday I did six laps minus the hill for a four-mile walk. Today I decided to go somewhere different. Down the hill, and down the beach to the intersection where you turn to get to the state park. The round-trip was just over 3.6 miles, and it took an hour and twelve minutes.

The pasta was yum. Roxy had 2 servings - not big ones, but still, a lot of pasta for a little girl. And there’s enough for her Mama when she gets home from school.

All our tax documents are rolling in. I fear we’re going to have to write a couple of big checks. Dammit. We’ll be better prepared next year. I hope.

The OW scored leftovers from work and I went with that instead. The pepper and mustard chicken was TERRIFIC!!! Not as hot as I expected but the gravy/sauce/whatever was to die for.

Hi Pearl!

Mooooom, do you ever get anything in large cardboard boxes (like appliance sized)? My guess is that Roxy would love to help engineer her own fort/playhouse/space station with the help of a grownup to handle the cutting chores. She’s about the right age for a playhouse outdoors too. Disclaimer: my dad and grandfather built a playhouse for us kids on runners with scrap lumber when we were little. Over the years, it served as a play spot for all of the neighborhood kids. Once we had outgrown it, it became a shed until one of the neighbors who used to play in it got a grandchild, so it moved across the street, got a new roof and is serving as a play spot for another generation.

Twas a bizzy, productive day. The old bat called out and sales order guy bugged out early, so I was 2.5 people on a Monday, when the weekly reports have to be done. I managed that with only irking a half hour over.

Sis in the Chicago burbs sent me a couple of old studio pictures. The first is one of my mother’s father, his brother and sister when they were small children, so around 1910 or so. The other is a cabinet photo of a musical quartet made up of all women (cello, viola, violin and piano), but I don’t recognize anyone in it. I’m guessing it was a souvenir or a promo photograph.

I made it to Portland. I’m exhausted, which is probably good because I have to go to bed early so I can arise lark-like before dawn for my 7:30 appointment tomorrow. I hope the Uber driver can find the particular OHSU building I have to get to, as navigating when you can’t see too well is more of an adventure than I want that early. Then I get an entire day of tests, including the one I call the Clockwork Orange test. If I hear Beethoven, I’m running.

You’re all going to hate me, but I like winter. That is, I like winter in the PNW. I like rain. I think this time of year is cozy. Sun and heat are not good for the ol’ lupus. Speaking of rain, my city has had rain every single day this year. I AM glad it’s lighter later now, as walking in the dark is always iffy for me.

I have to figure out what I’m doing for dinner. This hotel doesn’t have room service, just a posh bar that serves overpriced but precious little appetizers. I need to find someplace that delivers.
