the middle of winter mmp

Home from the park, there were nine dogs there this morning. That is a fairly big group for early morning this time of year.
I have some guinea pigs lined up for tomorrow.

I got the groceries ordered and we can pick them up at 3:00. I couldn’t find fat free oreos, so I picked a different flaver. I hope the substitution will be okay.
I spent more than I wanted to, but I guess all the extra stuff is cheaper than a text book. I wonder if he can take it as a school expense on his taxes? I’d better keep the receipt.

One load of laundry is ready to be hung on the drying rack.

My son has a big assignment due today, power point presentation for Food Science (which is really called something else - Science, Technology, and Society) and a quiz today in History of Jazz. Then he has to prepare all the paper irk and set up for tomorrow.

Too much stuff for both of us to do today.

Back from the Mart of Wal. I scored big in the used meat dept - some burger patties, and a nice hunk o’poke that is currently rubbed and in the oven, to be pulled later. I also got some ground beef that will become a meatloaf, and I got shoes for Roxy - that girl is growing so fast - size 6!!!

She’s napping and I’ve got a load of unders in the washer. Once they go into the dryer, I’ll clean the critter fountain. That’s a lot of productivity for one day! I’m thinking Salsa’s for supper tonight.

Well, I now haz TV again. Nice looking, but strangely it looks smaller because I still remember the bulky/hulking TV I had for 15+ years, despite the old one’s screen being a 55" and this one being a 65". They connected it to the internet (now that I am wireless) and showed me all the stuff I can spend money on (Netflix, Hulu, etc). I doubt that I’ll use it very much, but you never know… Strange, although I don’t watch all that much TV (maybe 2-3 hours a day on average), you really, really miss it when it’s not there.

And just got two calls in a row, one from the floor guy, he’ll be in about 90 minutes and from the desk people–turns out I have the wrong desk, MY desk was delivered to another address about 30 minutes from here by another crew. Hopefully Wednesday it will all be worked out and the desk I paid for will be here.

And Furniture row confirmed that I will be getting my sectional today, albeit it’s not on the e-mail they sent me. It better, is all I have to say.

And now to get a Digital Optical Cable for the TV soundbar (I didn’t have the HDMI cable for the Direct TV, so the guys did a little shuffling).

Sari, does he just have to prepare a Power Point, or actually present it?

OK, need to be off. Take care all.

For the dogs? :dubious:  :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL for my son.

He doesn’t have to present the** PowerPoint**, MetalMouse, just send it in as an assignment. I guess that is the Technology part of the class.

Time to head up for a shower and get ready to go to the store.

Hope everything gets delivered correctly and fixed and installed and everything MetalMouse.

**FCD **has an appt with the best of the orthopedic surgeons he’s has - my bro’s former roomie. I had to figure our when his last spinal surgeries were - I knew there were 3 in one year, but I couldn’t recall when. Before I called the Dr’s office (figuring they wouldn’t tell me anything because HIPAA) I dug thru my files, and I came across a folder that had many, if not all, of the bills and insurance paperwork from those procedures.

I wish I could go with him for his appt, since it’s in Baltimore, but I’ve got Roxy duty. Regardless, I’m glad he’s finally decided to go - he’s been in pain far too long. Not looking forward to another back surgery, but we can deal.

Ace sent me a 20% off card good for today and tomorrow, so I stocked up on batteries and some other things. Changed out all the smoke detector batteries and the one for the CO monitor. Saved $20!

OK, I was productive all day. Now its time for the MST3K Giant Gila Monster DVD.

Poke has been pulled and sauced. Once it cools, it’ll go into bags for the freezer and for tomorrow’s supper.

Salsa’s has been approved by majority vote.

The last day of January, and another rainy one. I’m gearing myself up for a walk to the gym. (Why do I remember “gym” being spelled “gymn”?)

A Go Fund Me request popped up on my screen, a former student, now a prof at a major university and father of three, has a very rare and often-fatal form of cancer. :frowning: A really good kid who became a really good man. I hate that someone had to beg for money for him, but I won’t go all political here. I wish I could do more than donate.

Beck, that coffin dream sounds awful. I hope nap time brought dreams of lying in a field of daisies.

Sahi, like doggio, I was puzzled, but I thought you meant you were exercising guinea pigs tomorrow. I was wondering how you found collars that small.

Salsa’s was good - we beat the crowd, which was also good. Time now to assume the chill position.

Evening all. My house is now a home again, the sectional and spare bedroom are furnished and all floor and tile work are done. Looks very good, if I do say so myself (and I do). Will get pictures on Facebook when I can.

nellie, have had a few of those Go Fund me from old friends, lost one recently (he was living in Thailand) to cancer. Know I’ll die of something someday, rather hope it’s not that. My goal remains to live forever or die in the attempt.

Cookie, that’s not a bad idea; I’ll check my monitors for type of batteries, unfortunately no 20% discount card.

Last weekend for indoor soccer on Sattiday, then shopping day at Target Sunday for odds and ends I need around the new, improved house.

All y’all take care.

TGIF!

Hell week is over, at least for now. It shall continue for a couple of hours Monday. I’m sitting on roughly $250K of receiving errors that I have to wait on documentation on in order to reverse receipt. Unfortunately, no one at that level was available this afternoon. Sometimes, EoM sucks more than others.

Tomorrow, I need to do the usual laundry, crate cleaning, bed stripping and grocery shopping. In addition, I have to go back to the tax bus to take a piece of documentation that I didn’t know I needed (different company doing it this year, so I had to furnish my copy of the 2018 returns) and to B&N to find a book on unsung heroes of the Civil Rights movement for the little heathens. Once that is found, I’ll coordinate a craft around it. Sunday, I plan to stay in my jammies until about three, purtify and go to the SB party I was invited to.

I irked today for 6.5 hours. My eom is structured such that I can’t pay my vendors until close of business on the last day of the month which means tomorrow. Did I mention I had to rent a vehicle since mine is making a funny noise. Hubs and his son say whoa something is not right here but the dealership says nothing wrong with it. I am so used to the sound I don’t really hear anything out of the ordinary. Since we are traveling back to Miami hubs paid to rent a car for a week. In the meantime I shall buy a new car hopefully. They don’t have the trim level I want locally but I bet they can get it. I will trade my old one in since they are the ones saying it’s fine. Just can’t take any chances on the racetrack that is the Florida turnpike in SW Miami. Got a supposed full size sedan which turned into Mazda CR5 or something like that. It’s a nice SUV but just a little big for my tastes.

It was good to be back to irk. I shall spend all day there tomorrow and heaven forbid Sunday if need be. I need a day of rest but with a sick man there is no rest here. My hubby is a big tall once robust man but he is a little child now. Like a toddler. This too shall pass.

Happy weekend to all you that celebrate.

Dinner was salmon baked with a little kosher salt and tarragon, with lemon butter and asparagus. I had a Pernod with water before and during dinner, and a glass of red wine after. Just got another glass of wine.

Every time I eat fish, I think ‘I want to eat fish!’ Seriously, I could eat fish every day. Only, my fish repertoire is limited. (List available on request.) So I’ve put some beef in a marinade (lime juice, olive oil, cumin, chile powder, salt, pepper, garlic), and I’ll make some fajitas Sunday (probably).

Monday’s predicted temperature is 18 C / 65 F. If this keeps up, we’ll have to mow the grass. In February. This ain’t right.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 56 and cloudy for the day. This mornin’ I shall betake myself over to the church house to do what I didn’t go do yestiddy cause of ick weather. Beyond that, who knows what the day holds. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza, just cause.

CupCakes we are somewhat rogue down at St. Pat’s. The Diocese says all annual meetin’s must be done in January. We do the first Sunday in February because it’s a common worship Sunday (Luteruns and Whiskypalians together) and also first Sunday brunch. This means a bigger turnout which is a good thing for Vestry elections. Our Bishop is well aware we do this and it has never been a problem. Plus I suspect we are not the only Parish that does this.

MetalMouse yay for (mostly) put back together domicile!

Butters good luck with buyin’ new wheelz. I need to get myself in gear on that I reckon, as twuck is almost eleven years old.

DC my back yahd could do with a mowin’, so I know the feelin’.

doggio glad you’re dryin’ up. Did stuff get fixed?

MOOOOOOM corned beef and cabbage is my vote for the brisket.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

**swampy **- it’s not a corned beef brisket, and I’m not going to corn it myself, so thanks for playing!

We had rain overnight but theoretically, it’ll just be overcast today. I’ll be helping **FCD **with the pellet stove install - we’ll be running the air intake and exhaust lines thru the wall which is a 2-people job. And once that’s done, we should be able to fire it up and take the chill off the shop.

This could be a lucrative year for the shop - **FCD **just put in a bid on a job that would buy him a new mill, keep daughter busy full-time for some months, and give him a nice profit besides. Not sure when he’ll find out if he’s gotten it. But in the meantime, his engineering work alone should make it a profitable year. So he’ll actually be paying himself! What a concept!!

OK, end of brag. Other than installing the stove, I have no plans for today. But I suppose I could dust if I get really bored…

Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!

It’s a cloudy 36 degrees outside, a bit chilly.

My sone did his school tests at the park this morning. I walked away, partly to leave him on his own and partly to get the dogs away from him.

The first test was two bottles of sprite, with the lables removed. One had red food coloring and the other had blue. All five people thought the two samples tasted totally different and were really surprised to find out it was sprite.
The second test was with oreo cookies, two of one kind and one of another. Since I couldn’t find low-fat oreos, we used regular oreos and party cake filling. The test subjects had to determine which one was different. Only four people did this test, two got it right and two thought they were all the same.
The last test is using fruit flavored candy. We’re going to do this one at home as he only needs one victim for it. I hate fruit flavored candy so he can do it. He has to close his eyes and hold his nose and see if he can tell which flavor is which.
We would have done it at the park but the dogs were wound up once they smelled the oreos, and my son was freezing his butt off. I warned him to dress warmly. It’s not cold to run from the house to the truck, but standing around in the park is something different.
By the time we all left everybody was freezing. We stayed longer than usual because the dogs were having such a good time.
We have some really spoiled dogs.

So irk is on the agenda for today, and some more laundry, and clean up the mess that is this house. I have boxes piled in the living room because all my Amazon subscription stuff has arrived. The only things that have been put away are the toilet paper and paper towels, and those boxes still need to be broken down for recycling. I buy those by the case, I have 30 rolls of paper towels, enough for more than two years. Each bathroom has about 40 rolls of tp, won’t need to buy any of that for a while.

Congrats on the almost completed house MetalMouse.

Happy new car shopping Butters.

Hope FCD gets the contract.
