**nellie **- I’m constantly amazed how easily she goes down for naps or bedtime, mostly. Of course, we can tell when she’s tired and we don’t have a “It’s X o’clock so it’s bedtime” rule, tho she generally crashes between 7:30 & 8. Nap time is more flexible - it depends on when she wakes and how active she is in the morning. I’ve had her ready as early as 10 and as late as noon. And she’ll sleep anywhere from an hour to 3 hours. Truly the embodiment of Indecision is the key to flexibility!
The mattress was delivered early, which is fine, since I was here anyway. Just waiting for it to poof out completely before I put on the sheets. I need to make sure the firm side is on FCD’s side.
Supper tonight will be rotissed chickie from Food Lion, smashed N.O.T.s,. and probably green beans.
I may take Roxy to the Marine Museum tomorrow. We shall see how I feel.
Our receptionist is retiring after 38 years, so we had a pot luck today. (We had an ‘official’ send-off last week.) About the only thing she isn’t ‘allergic’ to is spaghetti. I’ve put on 15 pounds (after losing 70) since Summer, so I’m still watching carbohydrates very closely. I went to Trader Joe’s and got my usual Cobb salad. I also picked up their antipasti selection to share. Our Admin, who went on to greener pastures at the end of the year, liked sangria. There was a jug of it left in one of the office refrigerators. I had half a wine glassful (because someone else poured), and then I poured myself a full glass. One of my cow-orkers fried some Italian sausages, so I had one of those too. It should go without saying that I had my usual 3-serving size Monster Ultra Zero. Now I’m stuffed. More than an hour and a half before I head out for my 3-hour commute home. Maybe I need more wine…
No. He is getting a degree in Liberal Studies, but he is focussing on Business Management and Marketing.
He has enough credits to graduate, but he doesn’t have enough 300+ level credits. He needed 10 more, and because he didn’t pay attention to his emails, he was late registering for classes and had to take what was left.
That is why he had to take a compressed class during winter intercession. Nothing to do with Business or Marketing, but a 300 level class that was about health in the 21st century.
This semester he is taking Global Marketing and New Business Ventures. He needed one more 300+ level which is History of Jazz, and his last class is a 100 level, Food Science. It looks like it is going to be the hardest one.
I will be so damn glad when he is done with school.
Then he has to get a job, but there are a number of online jobs he will be qualified for once he gets his degree. Actually there are a few he is already qualified for, but he can focus on school for now.
Should I FedEx you a tent, crackers, smoked salmon, gruyere and whisk(e)y doggio? I hope that you get water and heat back soon.
Yay for sleep butters! You may want to see if your Publix delivers. Better them than you schlepping groceries up your steps.
I hope you’re feeling better metal mouse. Once everything is in its place, you might be able to relax.
I got a lot of stuff knocked out today at irk. Tomorrow will be the big day with a quarter million dollars of inventory that will be written off. There goes a chunk of the Q1 bonus. I got my taxes done at the tax bus this afternoon. I do need to stop back when they’re there Saturday to take my paperirk from last year to actually file. A different outfit did the bus this year and I wasn’t in the system. Makes me wonder how people do it who don’t have a clue.
And you sari gained all that knowledge too. Neighbors made chicken and I threw together some cole slaw and baked beans so supper was good and easy. It’s gonna be strange going back to irk tomorrow but will be a nice break from my unpatient. There is plenty of leftover food and he can scramble an egg. But will he? I can check on him via puppy cams and the retired RN is at my beck and call.
Care giving is exhausting and hard. Anyone who has ever done it, my hat is off to you. Wish me luck. Happy almost weekend.
Today was day of phone calls. Then I walked to grocery store and back. It’s raining. Uber driver told me yesterday the unbroken rainy streak (since 1/1) would be broken today. She lied. My coat has a big hood. I chanted “Pie lesu domine, dona eis requiem” as I walked to give myself a chuckle. Too bad I don’t have a board I could have used to smack my forehead.
Maybe that is why my brain feels overloaded
Oh boy, this is going to be fun. My son has to do some food experiments for his Food Science class. I hope my friends at the dog park are willing to be guinea pigs. Nothing horrible, just taste testing some foods and rating them on a chart. Looks like I will have to be one of them too. Yuck, one of them is testing fruit flavored candies, like jelly beans or skittles or starburst. I hate fruit flavored candies. I made a grocery list, we can get the stuff tomorrow, I’ll clear it with the park friends tomorrow morning, and my son can go with me on Saturday. Maybe some other people will show up and there will be enough. For one of the tests he needs 5 people and there are only 4 of us regulars at the park. I really shouldn’t be a taster because I know what the test is about. He also has to take pictures to prove he did the testing.
If he doesn’t stop telling me everything he has to do I am going to smack him. I keep telling him, one assignment at a time. It’s stressing me out because … well just because.
Yes got the even up and at least both legs are the same length. It’s not pretty but it is doing its job. I think before all is said and done I will have the orthopedic doc take another X-ray and see what he thinks. It’s not terribly painful but it’s black and blue and swells if I use it too much. This was almost the straw that broke the camels back.
Evening all. Red, I do feel better, the work is 98% done on the floors and I’ve got my new computer up and running on the desk.
Got the list of what is coming tomorrow, they don’t have my living room furniture on it (bedroom and office stuff only) so I’ll be calling them first thing in the morning. TV delivery is due between 9-10am, so I did get the new stand inside and did the (very) modest putting together it required. Furniture is due between 2-4pm.
Sari, if I was closed I’d help with the food tasting part–if he could do it on-line, probably a lot of MMPer’s would volunteer.
Easy on the wine, flyboy; you’ve got all the other drivers out there to contend with…
OK, soon off to bed, haven’t been able to get my nappage this week with all the work being done. All y’all take care.
It’s a dark and cloudy 34 degrees outside. Supposed to get up to 45 and not dark later today.
I’m up early to order groceries to pick up later today. I hope the damn website doesn’t switch stores on me again this time. I know now to watch for it.
I really don’t feel like going today, but we need to get this experiment done asap as he has a ton of work that is due next Firday - in all of his classes.
I wish we could do the test online MetalMouse. However, getting him out and to the dog park will be good for him. He didn’t even balk or ask if I could just do the experiment for him. He really doesn’t have to be there, it’s simply tasting foods and filling out a chart. One test is getting a clear soda and putting food coloring in it to see if the color affects how people think it tastes. I suspect two of the three people at the park won’t be fooled by the coloring, they will know exactly what they are drinking. I, on the other hand, will know exactly what I am drinking and I will think it affects the taste. My brain may know the truth but my eyes will still override it.
Kind of like the first time I ate a yellow watermelon. I knew it was watermelon, I knew it tasted like watermelon, but I was thinking watch out where the huskies go and don’t you eat that yellow snow
Stupid I know. The brain knew it was watermelon, but the eyes kept saying, you know a dog pissed on that.
Didn’t do laundry yesterday so I have to do it today. I have nothing left to wear.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 46 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 48 and rain for the day. ICK! I need to go take care of some [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties today but might put it off ‘til tomorrow. Rain + cool = a good reason to stay warm and dry in da cave. Plus I do need to write my Junior Warden report for the annual meetin’ on Sunday. Sup shall be hamburger steak 'n onion gravy, green beans, and smashed N.O.T. The need for comfort food is upon both of us.
doggio hope the plumbin’/heatin’ woes have been taken care of by now.
MetalMouse yay for bein’ almost done.
Butters hang in there. Like Spidey said remember you need to take care of yourself as well.
MOOOOOOM yay for new mattress!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, we shall see what the day holds forth.
I’m pretty sure I can’t blame the new mattress for my two weird dreams, considering my dream history, but it was a less than restful night with several wakings. **FCD **is happy with his side. Mine isn’t as soft as the other mattress, but I’m pretty sure I can live with it. Honestly, the biggest problem was the sheets - they’re 1000 thread count, and they kept slipping down to the bottom of the bed, so I had to keep pulling them up to stay covered.
We just finished loading the truck for the dump. **FCD **is taking it by himself because SIL is still dopey from his sleeping meds and couldn’t deal with Roxy in that state. I’d have taken the trash, but *someone *wouldn’t hear of it - I hope he doesn’t mess up his back.
Apart from that, today is critter fountain cleaning day, and I’ll probably do a load of laundry. I may get brave and take Roxy to Wally World - we shall see.
**Butters **- be careful going to work! You don’t need to hurt yourself any more than you are already!!
**doggio **- hope your domicile is no longer soggy.
Soliciting suggestions - I got a nice brisket from the used meat pile - how shall I prepare it?
Up about 7am and feeling OK. Got the newspaper in and trying to adjust to the new desk (it’s very deskish, but I’m not used to sitting at one, so I’m trying to find the ‘comfy’ position.
Tried at 7am to the furniture place and nobody answered, so I’ll try again about 8am. Meanwhile it’s big bowl o’cereal time.
Mooooommm. interesting, I had a couple weird dreams after getting my new mattress…maybe it’s the mattress demons being evicted…
Sari, sounds like psychology is part of the class; could be interesting.

Happy Firday Y’all![/QUOTYou have the annual meeting on Super Bowl Sunday? Clever! I was a member in a church that did that on purpose, because NOBODY wanted the meeting to run on and on. It sure didn’t, with guys looking at their watches.
I’m up. Got to bed about 4am. I dreamed I was in a coffin. It kinda freaked me out. I got up at 5am. Not much sleep to go on.:smack;
I was cooking breakfast for Big Wrek by 6am.
My big chore today was garbage baghing. I talked the Big Wrek into doing it. Yay!
Pets are taken care of. A load of laundry is washing. I’ll have a snack in 30mins or so and then it’s nap time.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Very damp, and i have a bunch of giant fans(not to be confused with Giants fans) and a small humidifier trying to dry everything out. At least I had coffee today.
Especially good if the OW knows how to load and fire the 3 pounder.
