**doggio **- how good is your apt management about fixing stuff? Hope it doesn’t take too long. PS - Roxy doesn’t share her blueberries with anyone! And we have about 2 acres of woods in the back yard, so we pretty much never see dog poop. FYI…
**nellie **- you forgot the upside of using a white cane - you’ve got something ever handy to beat people with! That’s gotta count for something!
Today is new mattress day! When **FCD **gets up, I’ll strip our bed. Then when SIL gets up, he’ll haul their mattress to the truck for dumpage and I’ll help him move our mattress to their room. That’ll give me a chance to pull up our foundation units and vacuum under the bed - I think the last time I did that was when we bought this mattress a few years back.
I’ll also launder the bedding, including the mattress pad, since the new mattress won’t get here till late today. It just occurred to me that it could come at dinner time. Dammit. I need to plan around that. Plus I need to run to Food Lion for milk. So full day ahead.
FCM, good luck moving the mattresses around, they are the most clumsy things to move of all furniture items.
doggio, hope the water gets fixed soonest…that can mess up a lot of other stuff.
Butters, hope are the medical and driving stuff was worth it.
Up about 6am this morning, not feeling well at all, not sure if it just tension from all the work around the house the last two weeks or if I’m catching something, will take some aspirin and dristan this morning and see if that helps.
Called Office Depot yesterdsy to call off the desk delivery for today, but got a call center in Bombay and could hardly understand the lady speaking too me. Still haven’t heard from the delivery service, I have a bad feeling it’ll show up today. Just have to work around it.
Today is a day of major blurfage over here. However, I have managed to be a little bit productive so it’s not quite a lost cause. I was over at mum’s flat yesterday to shift a few more boxes of stuff to the charity shop, we had emptied her china cabinet of ornaments and left them in the communal lounge so that anyone who wanted something to remember her by, could take whatever they liked. I went to collect up the left bits and pieces, and there were very few which made me happy.
I also had to go to the crematorium to collect her ashes, while I was there I saw one of the girls from the funeral director’s and she asked if I could call in at some point. When I did, she gave me a box with a memory book in it - it’s a while ring-binder with the front cover duplicated from mum’s funeral service booklet, and inside it’s got sections to keep photos and cards. Really lovely idea so I will fill it up with good stuff.
Today I have dealt with some officialdom, and finished the last three sections of my performance management essay. That is quite enough adulting for today, the sofa beckons for the afternoon and then I have to pack for tomorrow’s trip to Budapest for a weekend of shenanigans with friends.
Cupcake, I will keep my fingers crossed for the Dean, good that it was caught early and hopefully there will be a good recovery.
Doggio, I hope Gordie doesn’t think you’re trying to tell him something by turning his home into a bathtub!
Hugs boofae. Losing my mother was about the hardest thing ever.
Today shall be sloth. I made my unpatient breakfast and he is now down for a nap. I am propping up my foot. The maid was here yesterday so there isn’t too much to do. I forgot to get laundry detergent last night which was one of the major reasons I went into the store :smack: if I do venture out that is something I need to do.
Dead mattress in truck for trip to dump (it really was in bad shape.) Our mattress now belongs to daughter and SIL. New mattress will be delivered in 6 hours or so. As soon as Roxy goes down for a nap, I’ll launder the bed linens.
I came into the orifice today, and our cubicle area is barricaded by trash bins. There’s a (used) pee-pad on the floor. The poopy is sleeping in her carrier.
wet one, how do you clean Ariel’s blanket? I would think running it through the washing machine might not be practical.
There are blanket cleaning services in this area. One service even picks up at the barn. There are horse people who have big @ss front loader washing machines and they do their own blankets. But I have a regular size machine and a horse blanket wouldn’t fit.
Back from a quick grocery run. As it happened, my preferred TP was on sale, plus I got an extra $2 off by using the kiosk, so yay! I’ll go back this weekend and get another couple of packs (limit: 2 per purchase)
And I’ve started the laundry. Roxy is still sleeping. SIL will leave in about an hour. All is quiet here.
Not a bad day today, it is 37 degrees and the sun is shining. Much nicer than the 21 degrees at the park this morning. The days are warming up a bit as it is supposed to be in the 60s on Moonday.
Nothing special going on today. I need to do some laundry, I’m out of clean clothes.
I also need to do some proofreading for my son. It never ends.
Also have to find out about some jazz concerts, one of his assignments is going to a concert and writing about the experience. If he was actually in Frostburg, there are concerts on campus. One of the people at the park told me there is a bar in town that plays jazz music. I doubt that counts as a concert though.
I think he is going to struggle a bit with this class. One of his first assignments was listening to a piece of music. The same music played first as jazz, then as the blues, then as rock, then as metal. I had no problem telling them apart. He did. I can hear the difference, but I’m not sure how to explain the difference, other than the instruments being used. I don’t like jazz that much, smooth jazz is okay, but I hate horns, especially bugles and trumpets, they hurt my ears.
I’ll take this class with him though, it can’t hurt and maybe I’ll learn to appreciate jazz a little more.
Hope your plumbing gets fixed soon Doggio. Must be the time for plumbing issues. A guy at the park has a leaking pipe under his kitchen sink, and my downstairs toilet has a problem. It takes hours for the tank to fill.
I woke at 4am and didn’t get back to sleep. I’m feeling in need of a nap.
b) I’ve seen the pictures. ALL the pictures.
I am not excusing the way I misspent my youth but in interest of full disclosure I was a tramp and reasonably open about it. So most of the girls I attracted were likewise tramps. I cleaned up quite a bit before I met the Old Wench.
Hey, good point! I could also wave it at kids and yell at them to get off my lawn. I mean, I don’t have a lawn, but I could stand on someone else’s lawn and brandish the cane. Sort of a public service.
Roxie seems like she’s really good about taking naps. What a blessing! My kids started resisting naps at around her age, and it took real work to settle them down. Yet another way Roxie is a sweetheart.
Haven’t heard from doggio since he told us about the plumbing issues; should we be sending out an SOS? Or sending him a meal of SoS?
boo fae, glad you got through the deal with Mom; it’s never easy. And enjoy the getaway to Buddha’s Gants.
Butters, sloth is underrated and never should be one of the 7 deadly sins. Sloth away!
Well, the desk came today anyway, but the guys delivering and the flooring guy worked together and we got it all done. The problem (and Murphy insures me that there is always a problem) is that only 3 out of 4 parts of the desk were delivered, so I have an “L” instead of a “U” desk. Guys put together the rest of it and got me hooked up to the phone/wireless and then helped move the new TV stand into the living room.
Tomorrow I should get all the remaining furniture and the new TV/Soundbar, so by Firday night I can begin living in my whole house again. Will post pictures on Facebook once I get my new desktop hooked up and in operation. Only thing remaining is the bookcases and china/momento cabinet which the neighbor’s kids will help haul in from the garage, perhaps Sunday. Glad I’ve done all this, but glad I’m unlikely to ever do it again (of course, if I live to 95, ya never know…)
From anyone other than you ----------- but the rest of us have things called “friends” who took and saved said pictures. Trust me – I didn’t bother taking any myself.
