rigs that’s just dumb. Then again it is the Department of State…
We did dindin. Not too shabby! Beef tenderloin, asparagus, wild rice and a sallit. Tomorrow has been decreed to be pizza day. Fine by me. After all I do get the princely sum of $37.50/mo lavished upon me from now on.
I’m sure mmmmmm’s is in England by now. In case you see this, prayers and good thoughts still headed out to your dad and your family!
Today was quite insane. GM threw a guest out of the hotel today for being a nuisance, a suspected drug user, and abusing the night auditors. One of my former professors at Pirate U is going to be checking in next week and I hope I get to see him. Army Boy has his first test in his math class today and was having a mild freakout before he left for class. Army Boy’s brother, Computer Whiz, borrowed Roommate Andles’ bike to ride to work this morning and wrecked on the way home trying to get out of a car’s way. He’s fine, just scraped up his arm and tore his work clothes. And now Pandora thinks I want to hear Nickelback on my hard rock station.
I cleaned the carpet and the bathroom, got a haircut, and went and bought a swampy pack of toilet paper at Wally World. Now I’m cooking dinner and pondering witch movie to watch.
rigs, that sucks. Prednisone is one of my least favorite drugs.
swampy, you could always change into the tube top for the reception.
spaz that is an insane day. My condolences, and I’ll email you a Yuengling if it will help.
Nava, the usual bar is showing the World Cup, and has imported some Furriners to make it like over the Pond. I might go and watch, or I might help some friends house sit and drink tequila by the pool. Decisions, decisions.
doggio what could possibly be better than tequila by the pool! Oh and thanks for the idea for the after weddin’ attire. I mean it will be awfully hawt!
Hope you get things sorted, rigs. Government bureaucracy is never fun to deal with.
A knitting question - when the pattern says a gauge is 16 sts, 21 rows = 4 inches, does that mean that after knitting 16 stitches and 21 rows, the result should be a 4 inch square?
I think so, but I also think that taters or some other MMPer is the Knitter Extraordinaire.
He kept his second Pred down. I actually TALKED to a real live person at the Klucyznksi Federal Bldg this afternoon. I had to wade through about 15 minutes of phone tree, but I got a human in the end.
She pulled up the data and turns out the letter is completely wrong (which makes me get all paranoid about Homeland Security and shit like that–there’s their file and then there’s the info they let us know…)
The birthdates don’t jive. It has nothing to do with us being his parents at all. No shit the dates aren’t the same, since the first Passport was incorrect, but [del]we went to Europe anyway because we didn’t have time to fight the good fight[/del] because his birth certificate was wrong. Once we got back from the EU, I contacted the hospital, which had filled out the effing form WRONG (the birth was charted correctly, thank god), sent a letter to the state with a NOTARIZED copy of the medical record etc and got an “amended” BC. And “amended” BC consists entirely of them drawing a line through the date and writing the correct one on top of it. :smack:
But the Post Office Lady said all they would need is his prior PP. I should have overridden her, but didn’t. So here we are.
I have also cut the front yard today, made cookies and dinner. I’m in my jammies and am DONE.
Nope, I’m not the knitter. That’s** taxi **and FCM.
I did absolutely nothing today. I did take a reaaaally long nap. I must have needed it, although the nap was filled with strange dreams that didn’t make any sense at all.
Yes, Haze, that’s what it means. What they don’t tell you is that you should actually knit a swatch that’s a bit wider and longer than 4X4 to get the true gauge. Here’s an article that gives some instructions. And a whole dissertation from knitty.
Did you know that it’s about to be World Wide Knit in Public Day? You get to pick the day…between the 12th and the 20th.
Hope the passport issues get straightened out quickly rigs and that his asthma stays controlled.
I think you should apply for that job anyway, Taters. If nothing else, it’s good practice for the job you really want. And if the PD is a mess, then they may not want as much experience as you think they do.
Sounds like a crazy day,** Spaz**.
More good thoughts headed out to mmmmmmmm and family.
My new pedometer came today. Yay! And I already tried it out. Seems to be pretty accurate, too. Double yay!
Thanks gt. I just knit a gauge for a baby blanket by double-stranding some cotton yarn I had and it seems the gauge is more or less correct. But I don’t like double-stranding the yarn. Would it matter if I just cast on double the number of stitches? (I could use different yarn, I suppose, but I really like this particular yarn - very soft and comforting. And the wool yarn I have is a bit scratchy and I can’t knit with scratchy wool in this weather without melting into a puddle of sweat, lol.)
I’m trying to be productive today, after a week of lounging around and sweating unproductively. The heat’s lessened a bit. Hopefully it’ll rain tomorrow.
On the other hand, I’m already out of bed, and swampy’s tube top sounds Bear Force One-worthy.
The building we’re in has gone for the “industrial” school of design, with metallic stairs outside painted in bright colors and big shiny conduits (also outside); there are no individual offices. We don’t have American-style cubicles, it’s a more-open design but each person with his own desk. We have huge windows, which as anybody knows are a requirement when you’re in as dark a place as Seville  Seriously, this is the kind of area where light from outside manages to find its way into lift wells, why do we have all this glass and all the fluorescents on? The team’s WAG on the lights is that, since we make electricity (solar plants mostly) and the electric company will only buy so much, the offices are lit with the leftovers.
Happy Friday, everyone! I have a minor bit of blurfage today but nothing like yesterday’s levels.
Last night was a very idle night, I did a load of laundry after I dropped coleslaw on my trousers at lunchtime (necessitating an emergency wash) and had a bath, microwaved leftovers for dinner and then slobbed on the sofa watching “Supernatural”.
Tonight is groceries night, then maybe a film or something, anything to avoid exposure to football! The weekend has very little planned, except the usual errands and a trip to the garden centre to buy compost and tubs to plant all the stuff I’ve been given recently by friends.
I spent way too long last night working on bracelets and have discovered that my jump rings aren’t strong enough and I will most likely have to special order heavy duty ones. BAH! :dubious:
I hate it that every bank, loaner and whatnot in Spain assumes everybody is employed-by-others.
I just used one of my bank’s e-banking to change the payment method on my CC. It has to be approved by a person (this is new) and of course they want to see my last three payment slips. There ain’t no payment slips, you assholes! And you should know it because I use several products which are exclusively for the self-employed! Learn to read your own computers! AAAAAAAAARGH!
If it wasn’t the bank that’s got the freaking mortgage I’d just be switching everything over to the other one, whose e-banking is completely smooth (including “one-drop-down-menu and a click” to change payment options on CCs).
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated and ready to face the day. I have promised my services as errand runner, as needed for the big doin’s tomorrow. I’m such a good friend!
Rebo I hear ya (or rather them!) about the cicadas. They’re out in full force here too.
I told my friend that I’ve had several suggestions for the spandex shorts and a tube top for tomorrow and explained the idea of changin’ into it for the reception. I got rejected again. There’s just no pleasin’ some people!
